The puzzle blocks mod adds a few new blocks to the game. Used together, these blocks can be used to create all sorts of puzzles that were never before possible in Minecraft. The main block can be pushed across different types of floors, changing how it moves across them depending on the floor beneath it (e.g. The block stops on solid floors, but moves until it lands on solid floors or hits a wall if pushed onto icy floors). Through friction (or the lack thereof), gravity, and a little creativity, these blocks can be used to create puzzles from those very simple to ones of mind-blowing complexity. Watch the videos below!

Okay... Why?
Minecraft, although a sandbox game, has been lacking in anything of a puzzle aspect. We've had limited interaction with redstone circuits using things like levers, pressure plates, and buttons, but these tools are relatively simple to use, and anything that's truly puzzling requires a completely custom map, existing mods, or the breaking of blocks. There aren't many (if any) truly challenging, easily-constructed puzzles that don't require the breaking or placing of blocks by the player.
I was playing through Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time when I came across the sliding block puzzles that we're all familiar with; pushing and pulling blocks to get them to end up on pressure plates, which in turn activate something in the room. The blocky nature of the environment gave me the idea to recreate the puzzles in Minecraft. Instead of letting the idea die in a suggestion thread, I decided to take up Minecraft modding and have this be my first project; I've been progressing relatively well, and hope to see this mod flourish.
That's cool, but what's inside?
In the current version, I've included:
The main block that you can push around.
A standard floor. Purely aesthetic as of now; I may or may not add something to it.
An icy floor. The puzzle block will slide across this floor until it falls off, hits a wall, or is positioned above a normal block.
A detector. When the main block rests on top of one of these detectors, they will give off power to redstone circuitry.
What do you have planned for this mod in the future?
By the time this mod is finished, I plan on having:
The option to have a color-coded main block, which will only activate detectors of the same color.
Other ideas. ...which still need to be thought up.
Is it glitchy?
These are the known bugs:
Placing a detector in a space directly adjacent to another detector will crash the game.
As shown in the first video, sometimes when the main block falls and lands on new ground, it will put out a clone of itself in item format.
Crafting: Right now, I use debug crafting recipes. Smoothstone and dirt.
3x3 Dirt makes the push block.
3x3 Dirt with Stone as the center makes the floor.
A row of dirt, followed by a row of stone, followed by another row of dirt makes the Ice Floor.
A row of dirt followed by two rows of stone makes the detector.
I have an idea!
Feel free to post suggestions. I'm glad to have new ideas and opportunities to test out my code.
This would be interesting when combined with AdventureCraft.
Doesn't AdventureCraft have a glove that can push any block one block over?
Oh, shoot. Looked AdventureCraft up after you said that. Looks like a pushable block's been done already. My bad. It doesn't seem to have sliding mechanics, though... Perhaps I can focus on this aspect? Seems that AdventureCraft only has the pushable block and the trigger.
Maybe a magnet face. You would place it on one face of the sliding block so that the block will travel in the direction that the magnet face is on, regardless of ice or regular block. Additionally maybe make it slide on normal ice.
Also, how do you craft it? I can't find it in TMI.

Added crafting recipes. Just debug stuff atm, sorry.
its a bucket fill in-depth commentary on modern consumerism's over-exploitation of positive human emotion via minimalistic figures seated in a retro-aesthetic.
It's "jum bo dee es six tee for", NOT "jum bods six tee for" or "jum bo dee es six for". What the heck is a jumbod, anyway?
