I have this in a modpack I'm building for 1.10.2, but I can't understand flying the dragons - I know it used to be using the R and F keys to ascend and descend, and I went to check keybindings but couldn't find any controls for Dragon Mounts. When I try to fly a dragon now I only go up a bit from using spacebar to jump and then it starts hovering - I couldn't even get high enough to clear a village on a flat plain :/
You could try using the WASD Keys aswell to fly forward, backward, left and right.
I could move fine on the horizontal, it's the vertical up and down that was presenting problems. I tried looking up and holding W to go forwards but it didn't make the dragon go any higher, and the only way to get to the ground again was to dismount and wait for the dragon :/
Then use R Key to Fly Up and F Key to Fly Down.
If these Keys don't work, check the controlls if another Mod uses these Keys allready.
I agree, would be great to see this mod shine once more and get these bugs sorted and fixed. Personally, I'd love to work on the mod for it's betterment, but I have no coding knowledge whatsoever. Wish Barracuda would allow others to do the coding for the ports and bug fixes, so the mod stays continuously stable as the game goes through it's versions, like a small mod dev team of sorts. That way he wouldn't have to do it all himself, and he could be a kind of supervisor of sorts and would only have to approve of any changes and post the mods files to the page for us to use. I dunno, just seems to me like this would be a more viable solution for him as it would free up time for himself and his life, while also keeping the mod updated with the current version. At the end of the day though, it's still his mod, and he retains every right to do whatever he wishes with it.
I recently downloaded this mod and it's fantastic!! I'm loving the dragon models and flying about my worlds! I have, however, encountered a slight issue. The world that I'm playing on right now has a lot of cliffs and overhangs and caves that I would like to fly through/under but whenever my dragon goes underneath these surfaces in flight, he immediately lands. When I try to fly again, all he does is jump very high. this seems like a bug. I've been making do with it but it would be nice to fly freely without having to stop and jump my way from underneath a cliff haha
Tried that - could not even find Dragon Mounts keybindings in the controls.
There should be a category called Dragon Controlls and with 2 Options called Fly Down and Fly Up.
Otherwise if you can't find it, what version are you using since i'm just using the 1.7.10 version and i can't tell if things have changed in newer Versions. (thought i don't think that would be the case)
indeed, i agree!
someone with more time on their hand should take over and make it shine once more.
i remember back in the day, when i first tested the mod, it was a coupple patches before the dragon could breathe fire.
i talked to the author about many things, about the dragons anatomy, walking cycle, Leg positioning, etc.
the mod was the burner back then, but now it has worn out and its time to let the mod shine in its potential beauty one more time.
someone HAS TO keep it up.
but not just clutter it up with unwanted things (like mojang does with minecraft right now for example), but have more attention to details, refine things to fit with the quality of today, more interactions with the dragons, just ... more love to the mod, its hard to explain that, but you know what i mean,
"its always the small things that make things better"
-the firebreathing can be easily done, just particles that are clientside and phase through all blocks, but just very few of them can set blocks on fire, to prevent server lag.
-dragon beeing able to ascend and descend when flying instead of staying at the same altitude.
-biting animation when attacking.
-maybe a claw swing / tail swing animation depending on the position of the enemy, but thats a bit too far fetched, i admit.
-a running animation, besides the already existing walking animation.
-dragon beeing able to pick up enemies and drop them from far up.
-dragon beeing able to search things for you or even carry, by having an inventory.
i am certain, these things have been suggested ages ago and many times, but i thought it would be worth mentioning them once again.
these are exactly the things that dragon mounts have been missing! Soo hope they get added!
When I try to right click the dragon egg, it just disappears, and if I try to spawn the ENder Dragon in with the spawn egg, it doesn't spawn but you can hear the sounds. Help, this is a glitch
Do you have Ore Spawn mod installed? Because I had the same issue, and it was after installing the Ore Spawn mod. Try removing other mods if this wasn't the case, and keep trying to spawn them in a test world. It is because something is impeding the Minecraft engine from rendering the entities.
Hey I was trying out the 1.10.2 version and I can't find any eggs in dungeon chests or any chests at all I tried adding "B:eggsInChests=true" to the config file but it didn't work what do i do?
Make sure that you are in a world, or chunks in a world that were created after changing the config. Also make sure that you restarted your game. That's all I can think of. If all else fails, then something is wrong, or it just means the eggs are rare.
The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
In version 1.10.2, once the dragon is rideable and its tamed and saddled up, you cant move it at all, it stays stationary, there aren't any key bindings for the dragons in the controls. Has anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it?
Hey man, fantastic mod, really well rounded off and well constructed, well done!
However I can't help but be disappointed by the underwhelming speed of the dragons. They just don't feel like a dragon should when they're that slow. Compare them to the Elytra and the speeds you can achieve with it, it's becoming hard to enjoy the dragons flight as much as I would like to. Especially with the newly added ability to fly WITH your dragon, side by side, that is until you pick up a bit of speed and leave your dragon in the dust. How amazing would it be to be able to do some sort of tag team aerobatics with your dragon, jumping on and off How to Train Your Dragon 2 style? Unfortunately this is hardly a reality as the dragons simply cannot keep up.
Now I'm no modder and, as such, I'm not aware of how difficult it would be to raise the speed of the dragons without causing issues, but if you're looking for something to improve upon, could I ask that you have a go at this? Maybe you could some how tap into the code (? I don't know the lingo all that well) of the Elytra and mimic the way it picks up speed as it falls and the way it leans into turns. That would transform the flying experience into something truly amazing! But again, I don't know how hard that would be to implement, so do whatever is within your limits.
it's really nice to see this mod still getting updates. however, i think that the R and F control should come back, and also, it would be pretty cool to be able to "upgrade" your dragon (for example, make it fly faster, give it attacks, etc)
