hello i ned help on this mob i downloaded the forge thing and this mob but cant fing the mob in versions...........plzzz help me:(
It isn't in the versions....mods don't make separate versions. Put the mod into the "mods" folder in your .minecraft (if the folder isn't there, make one). Then, switch your version to the version of Forge you plan to use, and if the mod is the same version of Minecraft as that version of Forge, you're all set.
Where might I find instructions for adding the dragon mounts mod to a minecraft server? I'm not very versed with this... it's not a hobby of mine, I just run a generic minecraft server for my kids and the neighborhood kids. I do have forge installed, and have dragon mounts mod working on the client.. just doesn't work on my server... I see the following error:
Mod Dragon Mounts is missing the required element 'version' and a version properties file could not be found. Falling back to metadata version r41-1.7.10
1) Go to the location of all your Minecraft Server files
2) Use Forge Installer and install it to that location
3) Drag the DragonMounts mod into the mods folder
4) Not sure what else, that's actually pretty much it
Additionally, everyone else who wants to play on the server must have Dragon Mounts and Forge installed, making it a bit of a hassle unless it's a small group of people who play on it.

Because why not put the RPG test thing on my signature?
It is just a small group, getting it on the clients is no problem. So minecraft is installed to C:\minecraft\, and I have the dragon mounts mod in the mods folder. It sees it when the server launches, but I'm still getting this message:
Mod Dragon Mounts is missing the required element 'version' and a version.properties file could not be found. Falling back to metadata version r41-1.7.10

Oh yes, make sure they also have the mod, that ends up usually being the problem. And also make sure you all have the same version of mod, forge and game!
I LOVE this mod and I have been using it for a whole year. I really want to enjoy this mod but there is a glitch I have trouble with
Wherever I fly my dragon, there is a spot where he stops to wait for chunks to load. Once in a while, he stops, then goes, then stops, and goes, and it keeps going on and on. Is there something wrong with my chunk loading? Does this happen to anyone else? It would be a pleasure to know why and how it happens.

That happens a lot when going very fast and loading new chunks. Basically, the game is having trouble keeping up with the speed you're traveling at when loading new chunks.

It's a problem that happens any time you ride something while loading new chunks, the same as with Creative mode (where technically you are riding something, rather than flying independently). For some reason, Minecraft has more difficulty loading new chunks when you ride something to them rather than going by foot.
And, as Scottnov said, another part of it is the speed. The faster you approach new chunk territory, the more chunks it tries to generate to keep up. The result is a direct relationship between speed approaching the chunks and the time it takes to load said chunks.
Sorry for my bad english, i used Google Translate because English is not my default language =D
Hey BarracudaATA, could you backport r40 to 1.6? It is because my friend can not tame a dragon because of the bug that dragons are property of the owner of the server (me)
This is a pretty cool mod. But I can't figure out how to edit it, or see Minecraft's "vanilla" code. I have some ideas to try making a "Dragonriders of Pern" style mod out of this, but I'm still new to modding. I'm using Forge and Eclipse, if that helps. Does anyone have some advice?

I am hosting a LAN world with this and my buddies dragon ported to me when it grew up. Now he cant seem to tame it. Fix? version 1.6.4
LAN did not work in 1.6.4, as I believe Feernando recognized. However, it's unlikely that r40 or r41 will be backported. There are far too many net changes to Minecraft for it to be an easy task. Barracuda had quite the bit of trouble updating the mod to 1.7 in the first place.

Check out the modding tutorials by EsvDefcon on youtube. He'll show you how to get your workspace set up just fine. Other than that, the source code of Dragon Mounts is available in the OP, so you can use that as a starting point.
I've stumbled on this news article, which features a very early screenshot of the modified Ender Dragon model this mod is using. Looks like they thought it's a screenshot from vanilla Minecraft.
This mod is really helpful and simply awesome! The only problem I am facing is you said to tame you type '/dragon tame' if the dragon says 'This dragon doesn't follow your commands' but it does nothing. Is it just me? If it is, is their a solution? But again, awesome mod! Btw I am using this as part of the Attack Of The B Team modpack
You need admin server rights to use that command, which is normally the case in singleplayer with cheats enabled.

As Master_Hill_ already said, Forge for 1.6 uses a completely different workspace environment and the vanilla code changes between 1.6 and 1.7 are pretty big, so it would be way too much work, sorry.

If you want to hear my advice: learn the Java basics first. If you try to learn Java (or programming in general) and Minecraft modding together at the same time with absolutely zero previous knowledge, you're going to have a very hard time.
Trust me, Barracuda's right on this one. I tried to jump straight into nodding after a quick tutorial, and couldn't even get a block to texture properly. It pays to take the time to learn the basics.
Well now I just feel silly. I couldn't read the DragonMounts files because I didn't put them in the right folder after installing the Forge src, and the Minecraft src files I was looking for were right in front of my nose the whole time. I definitely plan on relearning java before messing with anything. Thanks for the advice!
They just lagged out of the fence,so a bug lol. I'll report that!
