What's going on all you I a new intro catchphrasers! This TheiKings "Daily" Report and I am Obviously TheiKing. Today I am going to be Announcing the Doctor Who Client Mod comic book series!
Doctor Who Client Mod .....the.... comic book? Yes, you did hear that right. DWCM is coming to you in an all new form....in those beautiful halftone dot's that make up comic book pages. Raise your hand if you know what a halftone is!
I cannot go into much detail about the DWCM comic series right now as it is still very early in production but I can tell you a few things about who is working on it. There is myself, TheiKing you all know who I am so lets discuss the other guy.....Sir Sasquatch of The iKingsSGC Forums Sasquatches....Sasquatchi?! I will be doing the story, scripts and panel layout & coloring while Sire Squatch will be doing the heavy lifting of illustration on the project.
We are still in the early early EARLLLY concept development right now. Trying to nail down the aesthetic style we are going to go with. You can see some of these concept sketches over at the iKingsSGC Forums Thread for this video. You can get to that by clicking that annotation at the top of the video or the link in the description box. The character style we decided on is AMAZING! boxy characters done right!
The story will be comprised of many different elements of DWCM. Not only will it explore the stories that you can play in game in the future but it will also go in-depth and provide backstories & go where we cannot go in the mod. We will also explore past (and future) Doctor stories so there will be no Blocky Doctor left behind.
I am very excited to finally be announcing the comic. It has been something squatch and I have been discussing for around a year. The major hangup was production costs and without having those nailed down I was very cautious about putting the time and effort into producing the full color comic series. But as luck would have it I work at a print shop where I can not only get a discount off the final cost of producing the comic books, but also take a hands on approach while the books are in production and ensure that every last book that comes off the press meets quality control expectations.
These books will be available to anyone who pledges on our revamped Patreon campaign at a specific tier. We are also toying around with the idea of launching a kickstarter for the DWCM Comic series (suggest titles please?) to cover the majority of production costs and ensure we have enough books for anyone who wants the first issue!

Doctor Who Client Mod Open Alpha Release! #DWCM #iMine4WHO Thread Last Updated 4/1/2016
Welcome back to TheiKings "Daily" Report everyone. Today is April 1st 2016 which means that it has been 4 years, 4 months, and 9 days since DWCM was announced. Oh, also we are now in Open Alpha which means....you can download The iKingsSGC Hub & Doctor Who Client Mod!
After many years of dedication & an almost unbearable amount of failed release dates we are FINALLY ready for you to being testing DWCM as it enters it's Open Alpha phase of development on today, April 1st 2016. Over the years we have reached many points where we thought we were ready for an open release only to discover that there was a game breaking problem that we needed to address. This is not one of those times!
Last week I shared the comprehensive Stages of Release - 2016 Update with the iKingsSGC & Mod Division community. A week before that I totally revamped the entire look and feel of the iKingsSGC. All of this was an attempt to get ready for today, April 1st 2016.
The last few months have been particularly trying for not only myself but the entire team. After isteinvids and I decided that today, April 1st 2016, would be our deadline we doubled down on our attempts to make the April First deadline a reality. Lack of time due to real life responsibilities was major hindrance and some of us were forced to work on development assignments that we loathed. We pushed through all those obstetrical because we wanted to get this labor of love out to the public, albeit without the vast majority of incomplete features that have been shown over the years.
It is extremely important to keep in mind that DWCM Open Alpha is NOT IN ANY WAY a finished product. Open Alpha is comprised of as much completed and stable features as we could safely fit in without compromising play-ability or the user-experience. We understand that as of today, April 1st 2016, it has been several years since we announced this project and many of you will be expecting a grand complete masterpiece. DWCM has been re-written from the ground up several times after being decimated by updating to current versions of minecraft. The decision was made to leave out unstable, incomplete or just plain ugly features to make the user experience a favorable one. Many of these features remain in the Closed Alpha version and will continue to be fixed or redone. Many mobs will be getting complete model updates. We also made the decision to remove several work in progress planets that we are not ready to reveal yet. There will be some incomplete planets in the alpha that you can travel to The Grim is one of the most complete.
Now that disclaimer is out of the way let's discuss what IS in DWCM Open Alpha. Basically Open Alpha is everything you could possibly hope to get out of a TARDIS in Minecraft. Every core TARDIS feature you are expecting and even quite a few that you're not like the TARDIS Artron Power System (T.A.P.S) is in the Alpha. Basically DWCM Open Alpha is exactly the Doctor Who Experience you have been wanting from us in Minecraft, just with a few of the things you've seen over the years still in testing. Everything you will want to test like TARDIS Flight, Time & Space Travel, Bigger on the Inside TARDIS, The Time Vortex, Physics, Sonic Screwdrivers, Chameleon Circuits, TARDIS Desktops, Modeled Console Rooms & Cutscenes & the beginnings of a story system are all in game. Oh and did I mention that there the Official DWCM soundtrack volumes 1 & 2 are in game as well!
Now let's talk about how you can finally get to play DWCM starting today, April 1st! Installing the Doctor Who Client Mod on Mac OSX, Windows & Linux is extremely easy. Here are the steps you will need to take
Open The iKingsSGC Hub file & wait for it to install.
Once The Hub opens you need to log in. Enter in your Minecraft account details and click play, this will unlock access to the DWCM Open Alpha for your account.
There are two ways you can select a mod to play. Either in the login bar you can click the text that says select version or you can directly goto the Mod's Tab. In this case when the Mods section opens you will see a few options. One will be the DWCM banner & the other will be if you want to intall vanilla minecraft. Eventually there will be a wide variety of mods you can select from this list.
To play DWCM you would click the DWCM Banner & you will see the Open Alpha graphic, click that. (Closed Alpha Testers & Mod Division Staff have additional versions to choose from. These are hidden from anyone without access to these versions.)
Once back on the main page you will simply click Play again & The Hub will bring up a graphic of everything that it is installing!
