Could you guys give me any sort of possible release date? Like, in the next few months? The server will likely start in 2-3 days but I may add the mod in the middle as the server will be going on for around 5 months-1 year+.

i really ant them to release a version, even if its buggy, i get that they want it to be the full thing released all at once, but its been 3 YEARS now and everyone is sick of it
I think the notion that people expect us to finish the mod before release is ridiculous. Open Alpha (which isn't that far away) will consist of only half of the content that we ultimately want to be in the project. The storyline wont even be fully implemented.
Closed Alpha testing is ongoing and rather successful as of right now. We are about to begin getting the DWCM into the hands of the rest of the Closed Alpha testers that are currently in the skype chat within the next few days.
Noone is sick of the waiting than we in the Mod Division are. Joe and I have spent a large part of 3 years working on this and Emir has been invaluable over the past 6+ months that he has joined the team. We all want it out as soon as we can, but we are not going to risk our project's integrity by releasing a halfway functioning piece of trash. Closed Alpha testing is the final step we need to take before the first public version can be released.
The fact that people are so demanding, as if DWCM were our jobs and only responsibility in fact only works against the public. I don't respond to people like this because of the simple concept of respect. Why would I choose to show someone respect when they didn't show me any in return. My mantra over the last few months has become "We are not slaves, we do not OWE anyone anything."
And to a certain degree that is and is not true. We owe the kind & absurdly patient people of the iKingsSGC & Mod Division community who have stuck with us without complaining. Those people who have true faith in us will always be my first priority when it comes to the projects. Which is why I am so excited to finally be able to fulfill that 3 year old promise in the coming weeks/months.
How can I become as cool as you iKing? I mean you have been working very hard on the Doctor Who Client Mod, and it will be amazing. There are also have been multiple mods you and Mod Division are working on, and they all look really good. I also have seen your Hogwarts server reviews, and it does seem pretty impressive. If you don`t mind me asking, how did you get so good at your projects?

jeez, this was just an idea, i am excited too but i thought it would be cool, just because you have a cool sonic screwdriver system you could release a small bit of. And it would not be a not functional piece of trash, it would be a prototype
Good mods take a long time to complete, people. The L'aigle mod open alpha took 3 years to make as well and it is one of the best looking mods in Warband. Patience.
in my humble opinion.. this is abit much, i MEAN who cares, it took it time, so what, I am just as mad, and want to kung fu IKING so bad,, but you know... wouldn't solve anything, also I think hes taking this date thing too seriously, he wont tell people dates due to the fact, he is worried the mod might be delayed and people will be mad, but I disagree.. I think people would feel better if they knew the date.. and if its delayed its delayed, but then at least we'd have some sort of guide.

We don't know any dates. Our time to develop is controlled by what our schedules are like. This is not our #1 priority in life so we have no clue when things get done. Emir and I are working on getting the Closed Alpha ready for distribution to the whole Closed Alpha test group. This will happen in the next few days.
You guys know when we do something the day we actually do something. It's not pre-planned. Free time for Yofreke and myself is so hard to come by these days. I just started the spring semester and am getting accustomed to my new schedule.
We don't know how long the Closed Alpha will go on for. We need to make sure there are no more critical issues or blockers (things that prevent normal use of features) before we can even consider releasing it to the public.
Kung-Fu me all you want, the code aspect of things are not handled by me and beating the living crap out of me won't change anything. isteinvids is doing the best he can being the only programmer actively working on it, yofreke helps out when he can.
We are in the home stretch and alot of it is flying by the seat of our pants to get things done and ready for the public. First impressions are everything, and if we do not do this initial Open Alpha (DEMO, DEMO, DEMO, DEMOOOOOOOOOOO) correctly things can go very badly. BTW, I Did the parenthesis of (DEMO) just to really hammer in the fact that Open Alpha is essentially a demo version just incase someone below didn't get that from the hundreds of times I've said it in the last month.
yup, you should see how he reacts to a recomendation to realease a demo
You do realize that the first public version, the Open Alpha, is essentially a demo version right? Maybe you should see how I react when people don't pay attention
In all seriousness. Please, by all means if you wish to have it out sooner all you need to do is:
1) Buy out Yofrekes contract attached to a 6 digit salary and have him quit the job of a lifetime as the rising star of a multimillion dollar tech startup in silicon valley
2) Pay my entire tuition fee so I don't have to spend most of my free time fixing iDevices & doing freelance graphics work in order to pay my 12 thousand and counting dollars of student loans.
3) Pay isteinvids a yearly/hourly salary that is indicative of the man hours he puts into the mod each day.
Please understand that while you may think video games and mod development is all there is to life, real responsibilities take precident over developing a Doctor Who based mod for Minecraft, no matter how much we love doing it.
Noone on the team is disputing the fact that 3 years is a ridiculous amount of time for this project to come out to the public but it is what has happened due to *gasp* real life responsibilities. Go figure, life over video games, whodathunkit?!
If I knew about this three years ago before you even announced it, I would have warned you not to even tell a soul outside of your modding team about it until it was ready for the public, but I'm too late. Than, you would not have all these people telling you to release it. Honestly, I'm on your side. I wish people would leave you alone about it, you'll release it when you feel like releasing it, they need to get over that and stop rushing you. You have better things to do than argue with them, and no matter how many times you say it, they keep arguing. Again, 100% on your side.
To, be honest, I have acted a tad.. out of hand, and for that, I am sorry Iking, wasn't trying to be nasty, I had a brutal honest a opinion. I shouldn't of said it, however, I didn't like how you told everyone on the forums, and it wasn't even true... not allowed to call you a liar on here, due to rules, but I am saying sorry. any harm caused...I have been supporting you since day 1, and got abit angry about somethings, again sorry.
Based on my experiences, a large percentage of mod consumers are ignorant and expect mods to be finished within days, disregarding the modder's personal life and the fact that they don't have to work on it daily.
Finally, on the laswe give you a sneak peek of the TARDIS Chameleon Circuit in action!
Whats going on people of the Tau'ri? Today I conclude the 12 Days by showing off a very early version of the Chameleon Circuit GUI & Chameleon Circuit in action.
Before we begin I have to remind people of the fact that because this is a very early version of the system there will obviously be visible bugs that will of course be fixed as time goes on.
Ok. so it was important for us to design an easy to use interface that allows you to quickly change the design of your TARDIS exterior while still maintaining the fact that the Doctors TARDIS has never had a fully functional chameleon circuit in the entire history of the show.
In the very first alpha version of the DWCM the Chameleon system will largely be unrestricted allowing you to change design at will. This is partially due to lack of time to fully develop the system and the lack of a storyline that requires you to repair the system before you can use it.
So as you can see the system is fairly straight forward with a large view-port showing the current exterior in use. Below that a brief paragraph with information pertaining to the exterior you have selected To the right you have the icon list containing the various different exteriors you have to choose from. And of course on the bottom left the select button.
Obviously, pressing the select button will change the exterior design. Eventually the system will be improved upon allowing it to occasionally automatically change to an exterior upon landing. But in true Doctor Who fashion the Chameleon Circuit isn't always 100% reliable and whacky things can happen.
The whacky things you may be seeing right now in this video however, are not the whacky things in which I speak. At the time of recording there is currently a bug with the Transcendental Dimensional Windows when you change the exterior. I don't know if this will still be an issue when I get to recording the video footage so, if its not....ignore this....and....yeah.

That's it for this day in relative dimensions. Please remember to vote on the poll which can be found at the link in the center annotation above or at the link in the description box. Head on over to Xmas.iKingsSGC.com to keep up with the rest of the remaining 12 days of Christmas in Relative Dimensions counting down to New years! Roll the Outro!
We'll be able to switch the TARDIS' looks? Sweet. The yellow TARDIS(I don't really watch Doctor Who, so I'm not sure how it's called) looks pretty neat.
Regardless, keep up with the mod, you're doing a fine job! I got no clue how you haven't snapped with all the negative nancies and trolls here...
