I've been following this amazing mod...and if you don't mind my 2 cents here
AFAIK, the progression for a foot soldeir is warrior->knight->paladin. I dont' think it should be that simple to get a paladin.
I suggest having a tier 3 or 4 building..like a cathedral, temple of Light..Order of the Flaming Sword os something similar..and once oyu have that building you can UPGRADE a knight to a paladin (for a fee). Thus you can't spam paladins as they require knights.
F'course, the warrior progression should be changed (since you have to fill that empty slot now)..like:
recruit/soldier/squire -> warrior/swordsman/veteran -> knight
As for what powers a paladin should posses (to justify how hard it would be to get). I really don't know.
Holy Strike? (extra damage to demons and/or undead)?
Increased resistance to fire/damage?
Starts Imbued with Light (auto-ressurects once)?
Can bless his allies?
regein a bit of health for every demon/undead killed?
Additionally, another building that gives yo uanother possible upgrade path...you cna maybe upgrade your knights to cavaliers (modeled with a horse) or swordmasters (think conan the barbarian)..and since they draw from the pool of knights jsut as paladins, you can't spam either.
I agree about the Paladins, that would definitely make things more fun and interesting without being to easy.
My kingdom ruled for 10 minecraft days, and then took a decline. The kingdom was broke, and forced to sell good armor and weapons for coins. Citizens aren't paying enough tax, we don't have enough coins to last any more. There also has been a sudden monster outbreak, I recently enetered the bakery for a bite of food, and a creeper and skeleton were waiting. While repairing the bakery, I heard another explosion. The men I set up around, the kingdom were missing/dead, and only one paladin, of 4 survived the gates out front. We are out of resources and can't rebuild. This is the downfall of my kingdom. It will probably be conquered by monsters, soon, so I will die fighting. THIS IS SPARTA!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I just arrested my baker for having an illegal armed bomb in her attic. She resisted arrest and took the death penalty. My elite bomb squad failed to dispose, resulting in destruction of the bakery.)
FIrst, are the quest stats supposed to tranfer over when you start a new "Conquest"? Because mine do, and it makes it a little annoying when I just want to restart the world.
EDIT: Nevermind, I found my answer. But, in future updates, can you get this to auto-reset the savefile?
Second, I found this while strolling through my completed kingdom. It is a mage and a priestess. I saw them in front of the church one day, and thought little of it since that could have just been coincidence. I came back the next MC day to find them exploring the Mage's tower (I keep doors open so the guards can kill things). I went away for about an in-game week and had lost all but those two guarding the city. I found them, together again, in a small flower garden. They did not want to look at me, so I had them line up for the below picture.
My only conclusion is that the Mage and Priestess got married, and have taken their early-marriage arguments out on the poor zombies and creepers.
(In spoiler tags, because it is huge. I will take a smaller one if anyone can shrink it. Also, I actually do not know if this will work, so someone tell me please.)
And yes, I bought all of that in my hotbar. Yes, it was expensive. And that is not all I bought.Thank you Indian village (located nearby!).

are you sure you are using the newest Ver 1.2.0
once you have your own city started not the guild house you start with, the builder will have more options to build more items build them all then you can go to tier 2
your peasants can mine for you and collect wood for you click them they will tell you how and it only cost you a tiny bit 2 items

As of this update citizens will work for you if you give them wood tools (axe on pickaxe only).To get higher then tier one you have to build ALL the buildings in the first tier it keeps going like that until you reach the max tier for your version.For installing Twilight forest mod I never tried but someone may be able to help you.

I'm giving my citizens axes and tools but they don't pick it up.. Is there any special way to do this? Do I have to place tools on their house's chests?

if you are using 1.2.0 you click the people and they say give me a pickax and an ax, you have it in your hand then click them with it, if you don't have 1.20 installed they will just start following you

just look in the mods folder the Kingdom mod Ver number is on the file itself make sure when you place the new ver in the mods folder you delete the old ver and then delete the kingdom.props file from .minecraft

Move the entire ZIP Folder into your ".minecraft\mods" folder.
