We are planning to make a mod for minecraft. Basically this mod is inspired by the aether mod (and other great mods), and the thought of learning java through making minecraft mods really is nice. So we decided we would do a mod for our server and for other people, basically on our soon-to-be-released server called Tanice, and also build a couple of adventure maps along with the mod.
So yeah, you might have guessed it - The name of the mod is Tanice.
1. About the modders
You may call me Ice, and obviously call my friend Tanis. Basically we are just two normal school kids who have a love for programming and coding, and thought that making a minecraft mod would be a good start to our programming future. Well, we still have studies and exams, but we will try to write as much code as possible in our free times.

3.Background story
100 years ago in the planet of Tanice, the Eclipse cult fought the citizens of Tanice. Unsurprisingly, the unarmed citizens lost to the evil Eclipse cult. The Eclipse cult, on winning a easy victory, felt that Tanice was not enough. They wanted more land. More power. They wanted to rule other kingdoms. Other planets. Other worlds.
A organization put together by years of hatred against the Eclipse cult was formed. They were known as the Resistance. The Resistance did not want their planet to fall into the wrong hands. With a mysterious group of nomads called the Snow Leopards, they fought and fought for their planet.
The battle continued, and people fell, one after another. The gods of Tanice, the spirits of the Wind, Rain, Cloud and Earth decided that this had to stop. They summoned an enormous meteor that turned Tanice into a flaming planet. Almost all the people in Tanice were killed, while those that remained ceased the war immediately. The tragedy that took place in Tanice has now landed the planet into shadow...
4.Tanice
Tanice is a planet cloaked in shadow. It has become impossible to walk upon, due to the high temperatures on the surface. Special equipment must be worn, not only to protect themselves from the scotching temperatures of Tanis, but from the lack of oxygen on Tanice.
On Tanice one can expect to find places previously inhabited by the citizens of Tanice, abandoned as long as 50 years ago. The inhabitants of Tanice has now hid beneath the surface, and should you chance upon one, you must beware. If the person was from the Eclipse cult, may luck be with you. However, there are other helpful members of the Resistance and the Snow Leopards.
In the midst of the fighting, a strange phenomenon has lead to a rip in time and space, causing a portal to open up on the surface of the overworld.
5.Infomation about the mod
Tanice will be split into several parts, since it will be so big. (Projected to be the next biggest modding project in minecraft history)
We will keep adding new things to the mod, and we would split in into several chapters. Here is a list of all current planned chapters.

Exams are underway. Probably in about a month's time we would go into "full focus" for development of the mod, but till then, stay tuned!
Used Terms Mod : A modification to or a plugin for Minecraft designed to change, add or remove content, created by or hosted by with written permission the Tanice Mod Team Tanice mod team : The entire team that made the Mod, including Ice, Tanis, Aloise, Michael. User: The person downloading, installing or using the Mod.
Liability
The Mod is provided without warranty and therefore the User of the Mod takes full responsibility for their copy of minecraft, their savegames, their computer and any other damages caused by the Mod. At no point should the User blame the Tanice mod team for their lost game files due to misuse of the Mod.
Use
The User of the Mod may download, install and play the Mod on their computer.
Redistribution
The Mod and derivative works may only be redistributed with advance written permission from the Tanice mod team . It is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN to make money from the Mod and/or derivative works (selling, adf.ly, sharecash etc) and the Tanice mod team may claim damages or otherwise rectify the situation.
Derivative Works / Modifications
The Mod may be decompiled without permission for private purposes. Distribution of these modifications and / or derivative works require advance written permission of the Tanice mod team and may be subject to certain terms.
As of now, our team is assembled and ready to go. We won't take in any more team members, but we could do with some advice time to time.
NOTE:
This mod will not be considered complete until we are bored of developing it :biggrin.gif:
Try to avoid the usual pitfalls - Equipment that's identical to what we've all seen before, and the like (Especially Diamond+).
Aim for compatibility where possible.
In tune with that, try to keep the use of blockIDs from getting too heavy; I (and others) already have pretty notable mod-loads.
For guns and grenades, I'd personally prefer weird Arcane-tech guns over High-tech guns. Alchemical pistols seem more in keeping with potions and enchantment than Ak-47s.

I don't think we have a problem with that since the first part of the mod does not really focus on equipment and stuff. We would most likely make some tools and equipments that are unique to each faction.
- Aim for compatibility where possible.
Actually, I'm not sure if we could do that. Just think of our mod as a "bigger" aether when its fully complete and you'll see what I mean. Well, we would not recommend playing this together with other mods, it might or might not spoil the fun of playing our mod since many many stuff will be added. (Maybe some ultra strong weapon that will kill our boss in a few hits, for example)
- In tune with that, try to keep the use of blockIDs from getting too heavy; I (and others) already have pretty notable mod-loads.
Probably add damages to the block so as to reduce the use of blockIDs (Like in wool) but again, most probably we would not recommend playing this together with other mods, it might or might not spoil the fun of playing our mod since many many stuff will be added.

Sounds cool. So do you and your friend (s) have an expected finish date? Oh and hopefully you're not making this for 1.8.1, or any version pre-1.0.0, as almost everyone is updated to 1.0.0 now, so it wouldn't get NEARLY as much attention if it was for a different version of MC.

It's full of slime and furnaces and fireballs and magic gems and explosions and lightning.
