Poll: The name of that mod should be different from Ships&Boats and Ph
We have agreed with Eagle_Orion, creator of PhysicsCraft, and Shereis, to join forces to make a mod featuring physics from PhysicsCraft and also the rendering and block interaction facilities of Ships&Boats.
That shouldnt have taken so long im really falling asleep now. Before i sign of, here are two variations:
1) Thick chain
2) Thin Chain
I made it so the bottom is designed to look like it is still connected to the next segment(chain block) without any variation in shape bu connecting to the top of the image.
Do you really think sirentropy is so desperate for attention as to go ask those people to include his mod in their mod package? I don't. I think that they should be asking him. I've never heard of a modder asking for their mod to be included in a pack, unless it was made for that sole purpose.
Why would he choose that mod package anyway? It's one of the tackier ones, in my opinion.
Pirate ships sound interesting, but if you live on your ship a constant threat like that could get annoying very quickly. They should have a lowish spawnrate. Also sky pirates.
Ghost ships are waaaaaay too creepy.
Trade ships, eh, I could see them having sailors onboard who would attack you if you try to steal from them. Would also be great if they attacked pirates.
What sirentropy already has on his agenda seems more important to me, though.
lol ghost ships for the nether then? on the lava. . . i know he busy with other stuff, i just had to put my thoughts down before i forgot

I would prefer bigger links (2 instead of 4 per image). With bigger links it would look nicer if you add a little shading
Also please make sure the background is transparent and not white
Btw, if i may ask...
You, sir request many models textures etc, but when will all that stuff be added? D=
I asked you for more models, since you said you were bored and wanted to do something.
Of course all of the models will be added to the game at some time in the future
I also have other things to do, so models will be added to the game gradually.
Could you please send me the model of the Anchor? That one will definitively be in the next release

Ok, sure. But the background is blank. Wait, WAS that the eraser i used? or did i use a white pencil tool
I'm trying to figure out how to deal with the above problem. I could save the block positions belonging to the ship before anchoring, so it can be restored. However, if the player modifies the ship while in the normal world this method wouldnt work.
I guess I will have to let players anchor the ship only if there is enough space for the ship to anchor and not being in contact with any other normal world block. That way, when lifting the anchor, the ship will be built again the same way as if you hit the bottle. Finding whether it's a brand-new ship (that requires a shipyard) or it's an anchored ship it's easy.
Anchors seem to make the mod much more usable. I will move them to #1 priority for next release
Glad to hear they're a higher priority now!
And could you perhaps have an option in the config to pick and choose which blocks count as normal world blocks when recreating the ship? That would help for mods like Tropicraft that have new dimensions that use new, different blocks for their oceans.
If I understood correctly, your idea of anchoring is that you have to be at a certain distance of a landmass, so the anchor can stick to the ground (in case of airships) or the seabed (for regular ships and subs). If that's the case, I like the idea of climbable anchors.
The idea is that when anchoring, ships must automatically align before going back to the normal world. This is because of technical reasons (it is very complicated to make sure all of the blocks are correctly rotated if the ship is not correctly aligned). Since all of the ships will automatically have the capability of aligning, I see no good reason for stabilizers.
I'm aware that it's impossible for a ship to rejoin the world without some kind of realignment. The suggestion was for scenarios in which one might want to realign their ship to the world grid without needing to turn their ship back into normal blocks. One might need to get through a tight-ish space, or have a plan to use (for example) RedPower block breakers to create a hole in the ground to hide an airship. There are scenarios like this where simply turning your ship with the manual controls might not be enough. They shouldn't be a high priority by any means, (unless they can be easily done,) but Stabilizers could indeed see a realistic use, and should be considered.
Now that I think about it, the pumps could be reworked to require Stabilizers in order to maintain a specific altitude/depth. Just a random possibility, and would make more sense to me (but not too much more sense) than pumps somehow automatically knowing when you want them to stay still.
Just make bloody smp before adding all this nonsense
Just acquire bloody common sense and courtesy, and dignity before spouting all this crap. The worst people around here are those who don't care about the modders, like yourself. If you want it so badly you're welcome to learn Java and make it yourself, just don't publicly release it, as it would be a shame for people to go to you for something derived from a respectable individual. I don't know about you, but I'd rather a mod be of the highest possible quality, and free of any and all major defects before being created again to work on Minecraft's buggy multiplayer servers.
Learn some respect and come back when you'd like to have a mature conversation about this mod's development priorities, rather than behaving as though you believe modders exist for the sole purpose of bending over backwards to accomodate your every whim. They aren't your employees. They don't have to work hard to create awesome content. They don't have to release it to the general public. They don't have to provide support when people have problems. Yet they do these good things because they want to. They want to make your game more enjoyable with something they created on their own time, with no compensation except maybe a few cents when someone waits five seconds at an AdFly link. People like you, who demand that modders do whatever you please, are of the same lot as those who say things like "I shouldn't be made to wait five seconds! I'd donate if I had the money!". Yes, you're not doing that. You're just the sort of person who would, because you don't feel you need to wait and support a hard-working modder when you want to use what they worked so hard on, and release for your enjoyment, sometimes wishing only that users spend five seconds of their time to support them. You're just the sort of person who doesn't care about modders.

I like where the anchor thing is going!
Oh, and about Mr. I want every Bloody thing I want, he just wants to push peoples buttons. No point in giving a rip about someone who doesn't get the facts right?

I guess this should be merged with rudders. I plan to add special rudder blocks to let players control the ship. Rudders could be placed either vertically ( to rotate the ship) or horizontally (to move it up and down). More advanced rudders would allow more precise ship control.
Lol! XD@Sirentropy: So far on the banner I have made an explorer sub, a pirate ship, and a soon to be wreck that the sub will check out, I'll make the airship tommorrow and take some pics, then next week I'll put it in Photoshop and pm it to you

Sounds good! I should start working on ship design.
Once the anchors are implemented, I plan to move my base to a boat and go sailing off to a new home. I'll stick to just using the normal ships (in "legit" play) until some fuel costs come into play. Then I'll likely build an airship.

funy, i actually just made a rudder midel (for a ship) in techne on my dad's PC. Oh, and here's the larger chain icon:
