Yes, if you want I can skype, I can also communicate via email. If you would lik my skype I can pm it to you.
If you would like to help us on the research end, sure! PM your skype, and i'll add you to our Mod Conversation (Yup, that means you get the exclusive on what's happening with the mod :wink.gif:) as long as you keep it to yourself, and don't spread it around!(We do want some surprises for the end user don't we? :smile.gif:)

IDEA-
How about when alkali metals are not properly kept in an oil solution, there is a chance that they will explode in your inventory and damage you, and to a much lesser extent the environment (reactions of alkali metals with moisture does not do too much damage to solid objects). something like for lithium there is a 0.01% chance every tick (0.1s) that it will explode on u if not kept properly. the percentage should increase as you go down the group in a more or less Y=X^2 graph. this percentage may also increase due to the humidity of the area. this feature can also apply to a placed alkali metal block (or whatever)

Alkali Metals do not explode if they come into contact with oxygen! They are self igniting. They just "explode" (They react very violently, "explode" is not a chemical word.) if they come into contact with e.g. water!
But I like the oil idea to proof yourself from self igniting!
I hope the devs also like this :biggrin.gif:

Florian
We've been working on Alkali Metal Reactions for quite some time. We've been trying to make them as realistic as possible. The only issue we see with you're suggestion is having a small chance of the Metals exploding when they are in your inventory.
Alkali Metals will explode in water (as long as it does so smoothly)
Thank you for the Reply's!

i said MOISTURE, moisture = H2O, and explode is just to say that a shockwave will be produced during the reaction
how about the particle accelerator? a particle accelerator is not a particle collider, it has no real use in synthesizing new elements
It's funny you mention that, we just had a conversation involving that and are still working things out on it, but from some of the research we have done, a particle accelerator can produce small amounts of heavy elements such as gold. We are still doing more research on it to perfect it so we can get it right. Though it will probably only be in the un-realistic version because even though it does make elements it only makes them one atom at a time.
I think thats not possible (or very very hard to make)! But they said they will consider the idea with the neutron shooter (What is a kind of changing small things :biggrin.gif: )
So, you can put a neutron in, the element has got 1 neutron more than protons now and it will build another proton.
With this technique you can use Mercury to make Gold, Bismuth to make Polonium and so on...
But I like the microscope idea too!
with regards,
Flo
Yes we are definitely going to add something that allows you to create atoms from other atoms, I don't know if it is listed above anywhere, but we are. Now to the microscope. We really haven't gone over some of the smaller details like that, but that would be kind of hard to do because it would take a lot of variables within the code, also you can't see the structure of an atom with just a regular microscope.
Thanks for your suggestions,
Whats the progress on this mod? Still incredibly excited for it :biggrin.gif:.
so gasses are going to be added right? we cant have just solids and liquids.

The progress on this mod is probably around, 20%, maybe more maybe less, it depends on what you mean by progress because there will be stuff added after the original release.
Yes, there are going to be gasses and they will spawn in the air don't worry.
I LOVE THIS MOD YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DOWNLOAD THIS MOD (This is a Persuasive Post to download his mod) haha Really great work Elements Mod Team

Haha next time check if it's downloadable :biggrin.gif: but thanks for the persuasive post to download something that you can't.
Due to the lack of time, inability to get all of us in contact at the same time, problems with the code, and many other reasons. The release dates of the pre-releases and the official mod will be moved back. We don't know how far, but it just will be. We are completely sorry, but sometimes things just happen (ghosrec35's computer breaking and many others).
Sincerely we thank you for your support,

awesome looking mod, just wondering how long it'll be before it COULD be released, even in part, id love to test an early version of it(once you're pretty sure its not going to kill the game the moment i try to load it), although antimatter sounds like a really good idea( i think it was mentioned earlier in the forum)as does the ability to break down atoms into protons/anti-protons , neutrons and electrons/positrons, you could add a machine that turns (sun)light into matter, which would of course take forever, and of course a hadron collider to make bigger atoms(93+)from smaller ones(uranium and down), and a few crafting ideas:
carbon+carbon=coal
coal+carbon=graphite
graphite+wood=pencil( can be used to write in books)
coal+coal=buckminsterfullerine(or another 'buckyball')
buckyball+buckyball= hyperdiamond
buckyball+buckyball= carbon nanorod( yes same recipe as above, but different arrangement)
just went trough my knowledge of carbon, furnaces burning any of the above could give out CO2 if gas canisters are placed in them so you can recycle the carbon.
hydrogen when cooled to a liquid and place in the world could move UP a set amount of blocs before going down to try and get as low as possible (if thats possible, i once looked at coding myself, then ran away screaming like a little girl)
gold, silver and copper, both blocks and dust(IC2 compatibility in mind here) could transfer 'redstone' power over longer distances than redstone, redstone blocks could be implemented that do the same
i kinda like the idea of the elements without 'proper' names(ununoctium etc) spawning zombies etc, its just saying 'we have absolutly NO IDEA what does IRL'
Those are some good ideas that we will consider, but for the moment, since we almost never get in contact with metalhead because he never gets on skype, me and ghosrec35 have been working on our own mods. Hopefully we can start working on it for winter break but it just depends.

We currently do not have a downloadable version of the mod and have only recently started working on updating the mod for Minecraft 1.0.0 We are sorry for the inconvenience but we hope to get a pre-release or beta version of the mod out as soon as possible.

We will definitely be considering your suggestion,
