Depending on what you need, you can use an iron pipe to accomplish this. It might not look pretty, but it'll work. However, if you need objects to go more than one way, it might get a bit more complicated than just an iron pipe.
Iron pipes would not work as they will connect to blocks beside them like chests.
I know running pipes side by side you can use stone / cobblestone to avoid this between pipes but if you bypass a chest the pipe would connect. Same goes for iron, diamond, etc. they all connect to an adjacent object which would allow a pipe connection.
Just thinking it would be useful to have a pipe that would not connect to anything (I mean no connections along the pipes length) only on the ends. There have been occasions where being in a tight area it woudl be really nice to be able to bypass a chest, diamond or iron pipe with something that won't connect to it.

Yes, iron pipes will connect to chests and other objects, but they will only send anything entering them in a single direction and they can't pull items from objects like chests. Just use your wrench to orient the 'open' end of the pipe in the direction you want objects to go. However, they will connect to other pipes and those pipes will send things into them, but unless it's a diamond pipe, you can work around that by either using a stone, cobblestone, or even another iron pipe (on the opposite side) depending on the situation.
Edit: Just came to me that you can even pass a diamond pipe if you throw something in the diamond pipe's filter that you're sure will never pass through it.

So short answer, yes, in most cases that works. Sloppie, but it works.
This idea resulted when I was building another factory incorpating IC2, BC, and EE and suddently realized it would be alot easier and reslut in less of a piping cluster f*$k if I just had a type of pipe that was able to bypass other objects.
You see the issue is exactly that I dont need to connect to an iron pipe, or I'm just tired of having an octopus on both ends of the building. You know, cram everything into one pipe , sort it out on the other end, then run some if it back in the same direction it just came from.
It's not an issue and there are a number of ways to do the same thing with what already exists. I've done it many times now expirementing with different set up.
Just might make some set ups easier when you can just run pipes past other objects and not connect to them. Why connect to that iron pipe if you dont need to?

there Was something like that from this mod extra buildcraft pipes but it'd not up to date yet. no news on when however.

I'll have to give that one another look after they update. Between BC and this one though I've not run into a need to go looking anywhere else for pipes.
Ok, using a decompiler I opened the mod_zAdditionalPipes.class file to see the original source code to see if I could find the recipe for the Chunkloading Block. I did a ctrl+f for "craftingmanager" and this was the result
ef craftingmanager = ef.a();
craftingmanager.a(new ul(pipeItemTeleport, 1), new Object[] { "A", Character.valueOf('A'), pipeLiquidTeleport });
craftingmanager.a(new ul(pipeItemTeleport, 1), new Object[] { "A", Character.valueOf('A'), pipePowerTeleport });
craftingmanager.a(new ul(pipeRedStone, 1), new Object[] { "A", Character.valueOf('A'), pipeRedStoneLiquid });
craftingmanager.a(new ul(BuildCraftTransport.pipeItemsCobblestone, 1), new Object[] { "A", Character.valueOf('A'), BuildCraftTransport.pipeLiquidsCobblestone });
craftingmanager.a(new ul(BuildCraftTransport.pipeItemsGold, 1), new Object[] { "A", Character.valueOf('A'), BuildCraftTransport.pipeLiquidsGold });
craftingmanager.a(new ul(BuildCraftTransport.pipeItemsIron, 1), new Object[] { "A", Character.valueOf('A'), BuildCraftTransport.pipeLiquidsIron });
craftingmanager.a(new ul(BuildCraftTransport.pipeItemsStone, 1), new Object[] { "A", Character.valueOf('A'), BuildCraftTransport.pipeLiquidsStone });
craftingmanager.a(new ul(BuildCraftTransport.pipeItemsWood, 1), new Object[] { "A", Character.valueOf('A'), BuildCraftTransport.pipeLiquidsWood });
craftingmanager.a(new ul(BuildCraftTransport.pipeItemsGold, 1), new Object[] { "A", Character.valueOf('A'), BuildCraftTransport.pipePowerGold });
craftingmanager.a(new ul(BuildCraftTransport.pipeItemsStone, 1), new Object[] { "A", Character.valueOf('A'), BuildCraftTransport.pipePowerStone });
craftingmanager.a(new ul(BuildCraftTransport.pipeItemsWood, 1), new Object[] { "A", Character.valueOf('A'), BuildCraftTransport.pipePowerWood });
I think the first one has something to do with pipes, but the second one looks more promising. Problem is, I can't tell what A, B, C, D, r1, r2, r3 etc are, so I can't tell what is being crafted from what. I was hoping you could help me out. All I want to do is make it so that the ChunkLoading Block is crafted from 4 gold ingots instead of 4 iron ingots, because that recipe is used with the SDK's gun mod to make metal parts.
I would rather be able to modify the source code, (I guess that could kinda be like jailbreaking...) because I'm pretty sure that the next version of the Additional Pipes Mod is going to be made for 1.0, but I don't plan on updating from 1.8.1 anytime soon because of all the mods I'd lose.
I suppose it is and another good reason to not add nether support :tongue.gif:
I got thinking about this and it would really only take one step out of what I already do to power my world based geo generators. Currently I just do a pump > bucket filler > chest and store up a chest full of lava cells which I periodically collect when I run in to mine nether ores.
Teleport Pipes: U.O.P., don't want them, too cheap
Distribution Pipe: RedPower Tubes
Advanced Wooden Pipe: RedPower Filter/Sorting Machine
Advanced Insertion Pipe: RedPower Tubes, won't even send the item at all if chest is full
Yea, if you stay in the nether for awhile the memory usage would inflate ALOT
I have not done it for liquid because of the fact that it would unbalance it. BC Pump -> Teleport Pipe -> Bucket Filler -> Geo = Almost infinite power without moving anything for days (or longer)
I have used them extensively and have never run into this problem, it sounds like MC isn't saving for some reason. (A common one is not enough HDD space)
Are you using OptiFine? If so install HD Texture patch on top of it
It is in mod_zAdditionalPipes, however I will make it changeable for the next version.
I am using Optifine, along with a ****-ton of other mods, and i am trying to install this one, i am receiving same problem, blocks appearing as pipes, but not really pipes...and the initial pipes themselves are invisible, i have tried installing the HD Texture Patcher (MC Patcher, coorect?) after i have all my mods installed, and it will not let me install the hd part of the patcher to my minecraft. i do not know what to do, mc patcher will not let me instal lthe hd fix :ohmy.gif:, unless there is another mc patcher...anyways, it may be a mod i have, or something, incase it is, these are my mods:
Optifine HD
Rei'sMinimap
SPC
TMI
Millenaire 1.9.2
Tale of Kingdoms
Equivalent Exchange (EE)
EE IC2 addon/patch
IC2
IC2 Advanced Machines addon
BC (all parts)
Minefactory Reloaded (including Power Converters addon)
Spawner GUI
Modloader
Modloader MP
minecraftforge
LogisticsPipes
Additional Buildcraft Objects
Wireless Redstone
Redpower (wiring, lighting, logic)
This mod
Craft Guide
and after your mod, i am probably going to add Elevator mod
I DO NOT HAVE OPTIFINE
I've read 20 pages and have found nothing about the messed up textures issue. Such as melons being pipes and beds being pipes. Also many other things such as vines. The additional pipes are pink and crash if something enters a distribution pipe. I do not have optifine or mcPatcher.

Lol I said in my post im not using optifine.
That was the very first thing I looked at. In spite of the proper setting, they still DO connect.
Eventually it will be compatible with BC3. Not at the moment though.
