This would be great for the ship I'm building look more realistic (I'm using fence for rope :sad.gif: ). It's to bad this mod conflicts with the X-ray mod (X-ray Mod Thread I use regularly (they both have a sn.class file). Could you please add your mod to MC Forge [(url="http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/514000-api-minecraft-forge/"]MC Forge Thread) so that players can use these 2 mods together.
there is one suggestion I feel is a bad idea unless optional
"rope breaks if you are too "heavy" (number of items in inventory) [suggestion]"
when I saw that suggestion I said in my mind "BLEEP NO" for one such a thing would be very hard to implement because it means adding weight to every existing block, including those from other mods. otherwise a rope will break because you are carrying a inv full of feathers, which weigh next to nothing.

Since 1.8 took over some of the block ID's (bridges are now glass panes, ropes iron bars, etc.) will all bridges in old worlds still be turned into glass panes when this mod gets updated? (I think probably will have to repair everything I've built but just wanted to make sure)
I want to update to 1.8 and since 1.8 isn't backwards compatible with 1.7, then my existing worlds will not be edited. If I update then I will have a new minecraft.jar but if I reinstall zipline before I play again then will I lose items that were already in my world such as rope? Otherwise I'll wait until this mod gets updated.
EVERYBODy STOP ASKING FOR THE UPDATE!!!!!!!! MCP NEEDS TO BE UPDATED FIRST THAN HE CAN UPDATE THE MOD, BUT NOT SOONER!!!!
AND MCP ISN'T UPDATED YET SO PLEASE STFU!!!! (means shut the **** up)
how did all the other mods get updated then hmm?

I think it would be cool if tension could be implemented into the ropes. You could pull the ropes tighter (causing them to sag less) but you would have to be careful to not pull them so tight that they would snap under the weight of the bridge planks or players crossing them.

I personally still think ropes snapping should be optional if anything myself. I already stated why it would be hard to implement.

Just to clear this up, MCP has officially been updated to 1.8.1, as of yesterday, or the day before. but be patient. There is still a lot of work that modders have to do to transfer their creations to 1.8.1, and when it comes down to it, they're all doing this for you, for free. So get over having to wait a few days. I'm just a player, and it annoys me to hell to see all these people incessantly asking/bitching for it to be updated. I can only imagine what it does to the mod creators. So deal with it.
Well said, Andrew. I have to go through the same thing in Second Life. Linden Lab adds a new feature, and everyone is on my case to update my products to use it. One of me, 50,000 of you. Do the math. :smile.gif:

I was going to say the same thing but since you already posted it I'll just give it some diamonds

I was thinking the factors should be rope length, tautness of the rope, number of living entities, and number of bridge planks (for bridges.)
The weight of items could be ignored for simplicity's sake. You would be able to reel the rope in with the "use item" mouse button, and if the rope was attached at the other end it would be pulled taut.
Tautness should be the heaviest factor in order to keep the current bridges as they are. The all but the longest of "slack" ropes should be able to support bridge planks and a couple entities. It should be only as you try to make the bridges more "flat" that it becomes a problem.

when you explain it like that it does make more sense and does sound like a good thing

Is the rope entity or tile (aka block)? In other words, is rope aligned to grid?
The rope, and the rope bridge, both have block IDs, and are placeable in the world. They display differently (the sagging effect), but they're still blocks. In MCedit, they appear as large, purple, cubes, that are diagonally connected (again, because they "sag"). If you were to have the rope hang down the side of a cliff (or off of a zeppelin....), it would be a string of blocks, similar to a ladder, except that it only requires that it's connected at the top (where the rope is hanging from), instead of being placed on a surface.
I hope this mod is updated to 1.8.1, but I don't know when the last time the mod author posted in this thread was. Are they still around? Is this mod still being worked on? I really hope so... Mouser X over and out.
