It could work like the nether, but that would take too much time.
Yeah I suggested that ealier, but if we just created JUST the tardis as a world would take a long time on the load screen or would it be pretty fast?
So i'm thinking something like this for the screwdriver if it is to be implemented using normal items found in game. I kind of have two designs but I think I like this one better.
This is the other implementation
Although the newest doctor's screwdriver has a green tint at the end instead of the older blue one.

Thats a good question, how long would it take for just 4 or so chunks to load, not an entire world. THen again on the way back to the real world it would take the same amount as returning from the nether.
That's a good point. Well we could always go the easier not as exciting way.
Of course, but what i wonder is if there is a way to force the system to hold two different 'dimensions' in memory. Now while that may take a hit on performance, it isn't a whole world we would be forcing into memory, just a few chunks, and it would never have to load any other chunks. idk, we need a coder willing to mess around to figure out the technical limits of the code.

That would seem like a lot to code for something rather simple
Don't Daleks say "Exterminate" not "You shall be eliminated"?

Also are you a modder/looked at modding before?
... *POUNDS HEAD ON WALL* yes shows what a fan i am of the show... jk i really do love the show but I mixed the star trek borg saying "you will be assimilated" and the EXTERMINATE of the daleks and got that... fixed on the front post thank you.
I have looked at modding, but i am busy learning obj c for iOS programing so i can make apps for iphone and ipad and the lot. I rather not learn two syntaxes at once, busy learning how to make my own games then mod others. I want to support this idea of an entire Doctor Who mod as much as I can, but I can not build it myself, and until I have a grip on my own projects I won't try modding, but I would like to try one day.
....Thats a long no i don't lol.
Okay I was just wondering. I keep having different questions/problems with trying to make a mod which i was trying to make an electronic screwdriver. I'm all up for making the mod if I know how the software for making mods for minecraft works.
How about instead of below bedrock just surrounded by it underground? Also could the "Loading Nether" screen be modified to a video or cartoon of the tardis flying through space with the standard tardis sound?

Its not the traveling thats a problem, it is when you are entering or exiting the tardis that is the problem. Unless you understood that and just meant that as a loading screem for the interim in which case, I don't know if it could be done.
Sorry i explained that incorrectly, If you set a scipt so when a map generated it created a tardis at x,y coordinates, and the tardis was surroundedby the impenetrable bedrock just above the surface of the bedrock, even if it was found there would be no way to get into it.
Sorry about the following post I slapped a lot of ideas together so it might have some poor grammar.
Well currently i'm trying to make the screwdriver and its not showing up in game yet so i'll keep trying tomorrow to see if i can get it working
Alright here are some things I need to know for it/ideas or what not.
Ideas for what the screwdriver will actually do:
pushes mobs back
opens iron doors
does damage to daleks
powers redstone short term like a button
Ideas of Monsters to implement (these i just thought might be the easiest) What about spawn times? Spawn all day but has a better chance at night? Nothing would really burn during the day.:
Daleks:
Daleks would run around saying exterminate.
Weapon: Laser (faster version of ghast fireballs)
Spawn:?
Drops: Iron
Cybermen
Weapon: Walks around and attacks like zombies (maybe an occasional laser?)
Spawn:?
Drops: Iron
Cat People
Friendly creatures that will heal you a couple of hearts?
Weapon: Friendly
Spawn: Day
Drops: nothing
Gangers
The gangers could either be a complete copy of your armor and weapon when spawn or it could just be a pigman zombie that looks like a ganger (I like this idea more).
Weapon: Sword/Bow
Spawn: Either very rarely or falling in the rare goop that they come from.
Drops: ?
Adipose
Not really sure what these guys might do
Weapon: Slowness?
Spawn:?
Drops: Bacon :smile.gif:
Mannequins
Reskin of a zombie
Spawn: ?
Drops: plastic?
Weeping Angels
By far the one i'm most excited for. Only moves when you're not looking at them
Weapon: Physical Attack.
Spawn:
Drops: Stone
Thoughts on making the screwdriver always usable or make it have a bar that goes down about the same length as the use of diamond tools?
Thoughts on the Tardis. If we could actually make it bigger on the outside then the inside what exactly is it going to look like? How could we make anything even look close to the inside of the tardis? Tons of new blocks? If i'm making this which it seems like I am if someone else is willing to or what not let me know but i'd use a modified version of the other suggestion of the screwdriver for the Tardis. I'm still not really sure how it would actually work the bigger on the inside and what not. If all else fails it could still teleport you and what not, you just wouldnt be able to see the inside.
Alright I made a quick sig icon people might just think its only one of those achievement gets but...
Dr. Who mod + Portal mod+ SDK guns mod + minecraft = AWESOMENESS!!!!
This is just an amazing idea. I'd be willing to help graphics-wise if you want.

If you don't mind as well eventually when I actually have something to showcase i'll probably make a WIP thread
For the Sonic Screwdriver, it should also be able to activate objects that would normally need redstone power, i.e. use S.S. on a dispenser and it fires. Do you need the Screwdriver image made if so I can take care of that.
As for the monsters, The daleks, that is fine. For the Cybermen, maybe there should be two types, the more common zombie like one and a slightly rarer laser one. The Gangers, Adipose, and the Mannequins who I think you mean Autons, idk how we could make them in a good mob. I'm not against them, but I don't want to make a half baked mob, you know? And the Weeping Angels How would you be able to kill them, because the point of their turning into stone when seen was you can't kill stone? Pick Axe? other than that I think its a good idea.
I'd say yes, make it have that bar, because in the show, we do see that it does break from heavy use or whatnot i.e. 11th hour it overloaded when setting off all the tech in that part of the town, and in smith and jones where the 10th doctor used it to amplify the x-ray machine it burnt it out.
Its easy to make the tardis bigger on the outside than the inside, but people have already done that without mods so I think we should do it the right way lol. Um, yeah, i am working on recreating the inside trying to get the dimmensions right of the main control room right now, but it would require some specially made items such as the control roundel. We would have to add blocks to make it, but the inside is the least of my worries. Yeah I say if all else fails a simple teleport and load will have to do.
Other Suggestion of a screwdriver?
Thank you for the banner, and the support, that would be fine, you making a wip page when you get something made, but I would like to stay apart of this mod even though I 'm not coding it if you don't mind.

Most of those were suggestions and the ones that you picked out were the ones that I liked the best. I think for the weeping angels, either a pickaxe or tnt would be do damage.

We talked about this already and said that we didn't want people finding it. It kinda defeats the purpose.
It would be a lot better loading screen if it was possible that's for sure.
