So a couple of things I noticed in modding.
1) I'm not sure how opening the iron door will work becuase the block activation goes instead of the item activation.
2) Slimeballs don't do anything so i'm not sure how to make the mob move backwards and hurt a little.

I thought that either snowballs or slimeballs would push a mob back... and I don't think it should hurt it...
EDIT:
okay make it like snowball, it pushes them, and doesnt hurt them as far as my testing goes.
Also the sonic screwdriver can not harm daleks. I am a major fan of doctor who myself so I'd love to see this mod made but It'd be cool if we could come up with alot more uses.
Infact mobs would be awesome such as Daleks Cybermen Silurians Silence and all sorts.
The sonic can't affect wood, traditional bolts, or deadlocks. Also, a quote from the wiki:
Although the Eighth Doctor once claimed that the device could destroy a Dalek's brain if held directly against the casing when activated (EDA: War of the Daleks), according to the Tenth Doctor, the device could not be used to wound, maim, or kill living things. (DW: Doomsday)
lol, 4 days ago I got the idea for a Doctor Who mod, seems you beat me to it. :tongue.gif: Here are some ideas on the sonic that I wrote down:
When right clicked, makes the sonic noise and does various things: it opens iron doors, powers redstone, can flip switches and pushes buttons.
When right clicked with nothing targeted, it would make this noise if it does not detect any ores within 5 blocks, if it does it will make the sonic noise.

Thank you for clearing that up, I seemed to miss his post, and fancy, you quoted the wiki lol. :cool.gif:
ANd THAT is EXACTLY what I wanted the Sonic to do. Be able to flip a switch, open a(n) (iron) door press a button, and power redstone wire just by pointing at it and clicking.
And I LOVE the ore finding idea, it fits in, in my opinion, to what the sonic would be like in a minecraft world, as we do know it is used as a scanner.
Actually after watching the clip, it seems as if it should be the other way around, as in it makes the sonic noise whenever you use it, pointed at something or not, but if ore is in 5 or so many blocks of you, it blips (that noise) as feedback. Anyone agree? I think it could potentially be confusing for it not to make the sonic noise, and besides, who DOESN'T want to be able to make that noise whenever they want lol :biggrin.gif:
Yes, but can you from longer distances where you can still see it, but not reach it?
The problem is is that when an item is used you get an I, J, K input value (x,y,z) of what it's looking at but when you are too far away to reach those values say you are looking at nothing or the air block or what not. I tried implementing it "if that block is a lever and you use the screwdriver turn it on" the thing is you just click it like its a normal button or lever.
It's also kinda similar problem with the door when trying to use the item it does the block on click instead which would come back as false sense you can't open iron doors.
for the iron doors you could look at the radiomod coding as you can open iron doors with the remote control from that along with other things you want the screwdriver

The problem is, is that he makes his own custom doors. I could do that as well and make them act with the screwdriver but that wouldn't be very fun for the downloaders. I'm still looking at the code for it though and i'm sure it can help with other things.

oh, that makes sense... Would it be possible to code our own detection system? I know that isn't the best plan for action, but if the in game detection only goes so far....
I haven't been making very far progress with my version anyway. Hope it turns out well :smile.gif:
Well I have not talked to the programmer in a few days. He said he is in the progress of coding it and soon hopefully I can test it. As for me, I made the texture base off of the new sonic screwdriver. Also plan on making textures of the older variants as well (including the 8th's NEW sonic) since everyone has a favorite sonic.
Once I get the chance to test it, I can finally post the banner of it "coming soon" in my signature.

Could you post the art you made? i'd love to see what you made.

I have gotten back to the programmer of the mod. Everything is going nicely, with the exception of a small problem. All we need is patience and surely the solution will be found.
I like this Mod, since I've been an "Timelord-In-Trainning" since before Tom Baker...
BTW, here's my suggestion for the Screwdriver Recipe:
The button is because the device has always had some kind of control on the end; so a button made sense. The Redstone Torch is because the Doctor has used it to power technology before, most recently (I'm ashamed I can't remember the actual name) when he had to super-charge some spacesuits in a planet-size library infested with dust-like flesh-eaters.

I tested on a sheep, 64 snowballs thrown at it and it pushed it back every time and didn't kill it.

Okay, here are some sprouts that were made. I'll add them to the main post tomorrow, I'm tired lol. I need input.

Me and a fellow programmer, are in the middle of making a sonic screwdriver mod? :wink.gif:
