Steampunk is not limited to a specific world. Elements can be reused in different ways with different stories in the same way a medieval fantasy story can. It is a genre, not a story.
Again, you seem to lack the ability to read properly. I said BESIDES the technology having a clockwork and steam-powered theme, more or less anything goes, so no, you CAN'T just slap modern technology together and call it steampunk.
From what you say about Einstein, though, I'm beginning to think that we are thinking of two different things. Etherite sounds to me like something completely different from Etherium.
Look, if you don't like it, don't download it, simple as that. This thread is meant for discussing the mod itself, not the origins of Etherium. Let us stop this argument here.
To get the thread back on topic again, I'll post a little update on how the ModLoader version is going:
I have most of the original content down, now. It'll take a few more days to configure everything, by my reckoning, but it shouldn't be too long now.
I am confused about the naming of the material, why call the ore block Volucite if it gives you Etherium?
It's another nod to Laputa. While the official English dubs translated it as Etherium, it has also been translated as Volucite. It's the same material. I felt that, since many materials have different ore names (such as Haematite > Iron, Bornite > Copper, etc.), I might use one for Etherium.

I have nethercraft, plasticcraft, minecraft extended, modloader, audiomod, guiapi, mo creatures, superslopes, betterblocks, somnia, risugami's arrows
Can anyone help?
Thought this is more of a minor issue, just wanted to let you know.
This is because ModLoader assigns new sprites an unused sprite index. Unfortunately, it doesn't take account of Steamcraft's items, and so often overwrites them, graphically. The ModLoader version should fix this.

Grassfix is included with ModLoader. If you don't install the ModLoader patch, this error occurs.
Hey. First off, I want to thank you for this great mod.
But I don't know how to make diodes :sad.gif:. I like your RECIPES.png, but it would be awesome if you could add descriptions for the items. They are not self-explanatory, at least not for me.
Diodes are just Repeaters. You make them exactly the same way, using Copper Wire instead of Redstone. This will change in version 0.2, though. Just warning you.
Also, for version 0.2, I'm going to make an entirely new cheat sheet, as well as a txt file with detailed descriptions of how things work.
Hi there, I'm back! :smile.gif:
Anyways, gratz. I love this mod :tongue.gif:
I think though that quartz is wayyyyyyyyy too rare. I found, after around 1000 blocks of 3x3 mining in shafts, found only 1,5 stacks of quartz. That's bad :|
That's odd. Quartz should be pretty common...
Ah well. Version 0.2 has slightly altered ore spawning anyway.

Plz reply D:
Minecraft Extended is incompatible at the moment, as is ModLoader without the patch.
I may have the new version 0.2 out tomorrow, if all goes well, which requires ModLoader, but edits 5 class files instead of 28.
Alright THat sucks that its not compatible with minecraft extended but this seems like a good mod.
Yay modloader support! This makes me a very happy person!
I know you've been working on a Mill Wheel for awhile now, so I thought the following might be of interest to you:
It's also not compatible with betterblocks sadly.
Also as a side note:
It is compatible with Humans + but some of the ingots/powders/dusts have the wrong image on them... here's an example:
It seems to be using the new sword images from Humans +

ModLoader version???
The ModLoader version will hopefully be out today.

Hold your horses, a new version should be coming out very, VERY shortly. :biggrin.gif:
Wait a few more minutes for the new version, and then it might be.
It's just a super fast furnace. Anything the furnace smelts, the reactor can too.
On another note:
VERSION 0.2 HAS BEEN RELEASED, NOW USING MODLOADER FOR COMPATIBILITY
This is basically a massive overhaul of the code to make it use ModLoader. There is not much new content.
However, I did patch up the occasional thing on the way, as well as add some achievements.
It could be very difficult to implement, so if I did, it would be much later in production. I'm still not too brilliant with Java...
Try reinstalling with a fresh minecraft.jar.
