Use Copper Wire in place of Redstone in any crafting recipe that requires Redstone. Seriously people, is the text saying check the Wiki first not big enough?!?
Well maybe it's a bug or I don't know but I had to use purified copper to make a Piston, and for some reason I can't make a compass or a note box or anything else requiring redstone :/

Any help?
If you check the Cheat Sheets folder, you will see that the vanilla recipes usually require Quartz rather than Copper Wire. The Copper Wire = Redstone logic only really applies to items from other mods.

Oh, thanks alot :biggrin.gif:
I was looking for the recipes in the wiki xD
I don't know if you addressed this or not, and if you did, feel free to yell at me! But it appears that SteamCraft and IndustrialCraft both use a similar form of Uranium. Could you alter the coding somewhat so that maybe IC's Uranium would work for all of SteamCraft's needs and then remove Uranite altogether? It would be less confusing for people who want both of these great mods working together. Or you could change it some other way but only when using both of the mods.
The Jetpack is something I've been considering for a while, but I'm still not sure whether or not I will add it...
Coffee was something I considered also, since Coffee Beans are already an item. The "special effect" teas would be a bit pointless, since by the time I add them, Potions will be in vanilla Minecraft, so it would really be a waste.
Proloe, if you switched to Forge, you would be able to a. have your mod used by more people because most don't feel like having 1 mod vs. having many, MANY mods with Forge, and b. you would have access to the Ore Dictionary, which would make things so much easier than decompling IC source code. I can almost guarantee your mod will die if it doesn't stop using all the Sprite ID's...sad but true, look at all the old mods that are now gone because they refused to play with others.
Now look at the mods who play well with others, they are successful:P

*sigh* I had hoped that me saying about once every three or four posts would be enough, but apparently no-one cares enough to read.
I am going to switch to Forge with the next update. The reason I have temporarily halted progress on the mod is because I am waiting for Minecraft and Forge to update, so that I can begin the lengthy conversion process. I don't have all too much free time at the moment, so I'm likely going to wait until Christmas to do it.
Oh, by the way, to counter your point, The Aether has a rather low compatibility rate (on account of it using an API that not many other large mods use, which edits common and vital files in the standard Minecraft code), but it is one of the most successful mods out there. Not trying to infer anything by this, I just thought it interesting.

Okay, so I tried to post this yesterday, but it didn't work, but... So for the jet-pack I think something like what The Rocketeer has, as that seems to be quite a bit more steampunk-y than just a standard shiny metal tube... kinda. And then, I had the Idea that you could make the potions look like teas, or some sort of tincture, and some of the things you put in them be powders, leaves and dried up things, and then for the thrown potions some sort of mechanical capsule, if you care to do so. Hope you like the ideas and I can't wait to see what you do with all the new potential after you update to forge and finally get some free time :biggrin.gif:.
amazing mod! but slightly stunts buildcraft, as that relies on redstone dust in recipes, and the refined copper ore doesn't seem to work for me.... if it's just me being stupid and it should work, please feel free to call me an idiot xD
EDIT: scratch that, uses the wire, not the copper dust :smile.gif:
K I'm being stupid, at least I think, but any way where can I find the textures for the diode and inverter (redstone torch and repeater) because Steamcraft is changing the textures but I want it to use my texture pack textures.

Steamcraft replaces a few vanilla textures. These can be found in the sprites folder of the minecraft.jar. If you want it to use your texture pack, you can create the directory in your texture pack (sprites/Steamcraft/Default/terrain).
Hello ! I LOVE your mod, it's amazing. With your texture pack, and my googles on, I feel like simon from TTGL :3
(And my real name is simon, so... :wink.gif:)
Heh. Glad you enjoy it! There are a couple more TTGL references around the mod and texture pack. One of these is the Obsidian Drill. If you look closely enough, the Obsidian Drill's treads converge into the point, rather than spiralling around it. This is a reference to the Anti Spiral's weaponry in the final episode of TTGL, since his drill also has this pattern. Thought that was an interesting bit of trivia for you. The enderman in the texture pack is also based on the Anti Spiral, but it's not an exact copy.
Great mod! I can't wait to see it once you are done. There is a bug though because when I'm on peaceful I came across a highwaymn hideout and he wasn't there but he still said gimme yo money. And can u just make levers levers without making the whole battery thing?

Thanks, love the mod because of my love of steampunk stuff.

Ooooooh cool, I hope they are crafted like snow golems.

I don't know how Snow Golems are crafted, but I have a very good idea how I want these mobs to be made.
