Edit: This mod has been abandoned. I explain better in my post about it. I'm sorry guys.
Hello, everyone. Some of you may know my last mod, the 4x4 crafting grid. Well... let's just say this blows it out of the water...
(Want to talk to me directly? Am I not on the Live stream? Well then try my public server! The IP is 75.199.1.30:25566 ! It's a legit server, so don't expect to get every little thing! The admins and mods are friendly, and will help you out if you need help.) NOTICE: Server is currently down.
Minecraft Revamped!
What is it? Minecraft Revamped is a mod encompassing all aspects of Minecraft and making them better. Let's just list out some of the main features it will add. Note: This will be the biggest mod in all of Minecraft history.
At the very heart of it all...
Is the terrain generator. Many people have felt that it needs to be, well, revamped. What I'm aiming to do is a bit more than what most people expect from any mod, and thus, you can already tell that this will be the biggest mod in all of Minecraft history. That is because, the main aspect of this entire mod is to rewrite the terrain generator and make it create vertically. We already have infinite worlds in 2 axis, why not all three? This will rewrite how maps are created to make chunks 32x32x32 cubes that can stack in any direction, thus providing a truly infinite world. Of course with that comes with some other things, which I will speak of later in this post.
Raindrops keep falling on my head...
Oh yes. If you got what that meant you will already be jumping up and down with glee. Minecraft is getting weather. And not boring rain or snow, but full on dynamic weather, that changes constantly to environmental factors. Getting bored of constant sunshine? Why not have thunderstorms, blizzards, dust clouds, tornadoes, hurricanes, and much, much more. There will be so much to affect weather, it will be as random as your own world.
Since when was 128 the limit?
Other than changing 128 to infinite in map size, I will also be changing the limit on blocks. Expect something like, oh, I don't know, 1000 or so new blocks? 2000+ items? Hundreds of new mobs? (Note: This doesn't mean that I will make this many blocks, just that there will be the possibility for this many blocks.) Tens of new DISTINCT biomes? The list will go on and on, as this is truly an infinite world.
Can't go over it, can't go under...
What does this mean? It means that there will be huge changes to how terrain is actually made. Want a mountain taller than Everest? You could get that. Want a canyon that stretches for miles? Well that could happen too. Want a salt flat where it never rains and water dries up extremely fast? While that may be far fetched, that is on the plans. No more will you have 60 block mountains, 10 to 20 block "super trees", or 10 block deep "oceans". This will allow for things to actually create as they would in life. Imagine, staring up at 50 to 100 block canopies. Or jumping off a protrusion of rock for 10 or 15 seconds of free fall. Or being able to dive to the depths of the ocean, thousands of blocks below. This was the main thing I was setting out to do, though I am taking much more with me.
Tl;dr
While you may have been lazy, I'll give a brief summary.
This will edit most of the way Minecraft functions. It will allow for 32x32x32 chunks to be made, that can be stacked in all 3 directions. This will allow for infinite possibilities in worlds and more. Also, weather will be added to create a new, dynamic feel to Minecraft. From clouds blocking sunlight, to flash floods and more.
Better Life Because life can always be better!
Better Life is my newly announced mod, in which I will work to create, well, a better life! Really, it's an attempt to create a much better environment in the world. This will be the content hungry version of my mods, including hunger, thirst, mobs, and more. Of course everything in this mod will be entirely optional, and I will work to make it as user friendly as possible. Currently, this is what Better Trees is moving into.
Want to talk to me, or watch me code?
Guess what everyone! You can now watch me code at my livestream! And if you want to just look at pictures, you can also see my Tumblr page]/url]!
I will be creating the terrain generator first. Then weather. Then content. Side projects are SIDE projects, not the main thing. I will do them when I'm tired, or when the main mod is done.
The ideas will flesh out as I get closer to releases and such. I'm open to any new things that any one wants to add. Thinking up hundreds of things takes a toll on the mind. All ideas will be credited.
Better Trees:
Better trees is a side project in which I add many new types of trees and plants to the Minecraft world. Currently, there is only 2 new trees. The Ultra tree, and the Mother tree. Both are big, with the Mother tree being around 30 to 50 blocks in diameter. They both have 2x2 trunks.
Here's a video, done by Jupperify! Thanks! Note: Better Trees is now moving into Better Life.

Currently, the only help truly needed is ideas. I can let you test things as I finish, though you must expect a few bugs as I work it all out. Hopefully, Notch won't make an update that ruins my progress again. That's what happened with this. Was nearly done resizing chunks to work and stuff, when Notch decided to change how worlds were created. Effectively ruined all my progress :| So, I'll continue working on this. Expect chunks resized by mid next week possibly. Vertical chunks should come out around 5 days to 2 weeks after that. I need to rewrite how layers are formed/stored :|
Yes, I'm working on it right now. The random seed portion is leading to some bugs, but I'm working it out. I may have the chunks resized as fast as tomorrow!
Umm... sure?
As for the mod, I still haven't found where exactly the random seed is made and stored. Once that's out of the way, it's full speed ahead.

level.dat
I think it's one of the "Chunk" classes that makes it.
could you just code your own game and out do minecraft?
Dang it! Why do people always guess exactly what I'm planning on doing :tongue.gif: No, I'm not gonna make a game (at least not any time soon!) and it's hard to create the entire base of a game.
Since when was 128 the limit?

Umm? 2000+ items? 1000 new blocks... Seems like a LONG LONG LONG project but I mean if you could pull it off... Maybe not 2000 new items and 1000 new blocks maybe 200 new items and 25 new blocks. I mean you add 1000s of new blocks and it would feel like Minecraft would be cluttered, to much going on at once.
I wish you luck! Though I myself am skeptical that this will take off, I'd love to see it if things go well.
EDIT: You might want to also clarify that by talking about 1000's of new blocks, you mean modding potential. I assume you don't literally mean you yourself are adding 1000+ new blocks.

Yeah, I probably can't add 1000's of blocks alone. I will be upgrading the limit to how many can go in, and adding at least 100 or so.

If you can do it
Well, it won't be cluttered as much as adding 25 blocks with the current system is. Due to the vast amount of space downwards (and upwards) that this will add, it's likely that it could possibly become LESS cluttered, even with a hundred new blocks. And remember, not all of these will be natural blocks.
If you do this that would truly be epic, but unless you are a really really good programmer, I dont see this happening any time soon. Start off small dude, add in the easier stuff first like new blocks/mobs/items and other tweaks you would like to throw in. Save that whole terrain generator thing, and realisticwater/gravity, for later. As for ideas, I can help you out:
-Make clay generate from time to time between the dirt layer and stone layer. Make it more common on beaches and with larger deposits.
-Make it so when ore is mined, instead of getting the ore block, you get a 'chunk of ore' or something, that is an un-placeable item. Along with this, make it so you get a chance of getting anywhere from 1-4 of these items. The odds are greater to get a larger amount if you have a better quality pickaxe. So for example, a stone pickaxe has a 90% chance of dropping one iron chunk, a 7% chance of dropping 2, a 3% chance of dropping 3, and a 0% chance of dropping 4. A diamond pickaxe however has a 40% chance of dropping one iron chunk, a 40% chance of dropping 2, a 10% chance of dropping 3, and a 10% chance of dropping 4. This is of course just an example.
Ore chunks are smelted just as ore blocks are now. The whole multiple drops concept also applies to diamond and coal.
-Make the maximum depth much deeper. The bedrock layer removed. Below layer 0, valuable ores become more common the deeper you go, but lava also becomes much more common, and hostile mobs spawn in lighter and lighter conditions the deeper you go at this point. Bedrock also generates fairly commonly under this layer, acting as an annoyance because it makes you dig around it.
-More ores. Dont go overboard though. Possibilities are:
Copper: More common than coal in layers 70-40, about as rare as iron in all other depths. Requires a stone or better pickaxe. Used as an ingredient to make a bronze mix (of copper and tin), which can in turn be smelted to bronze bars, and furthermore, bronze tools, which are more durable than iron but less powerful. Can also be smelted into copper bars, which can be used to make wires (which also require redstone). These wires are 1/4th the size of a block, and are used to make complicated circuits with less space.
Tin: Slightly more common than iron at layers 70-40, rarer than iron at all other depths. Requires stone or better pick. Used as the secondary ingredient to make bronze. Can also be smelted into tin bars, which can be used to make greyish looking metallic blocks with only 4 bars. These are 'hollow' metal blocks which are used as decoration. These can be broken easily and are decently explosive resistant.
Aluminum: Slightly rarer than iron. Found at layer 40 and below. Requires a bronze/iron or better pickaxe. Used along with iron and coal to make a steel mix, which can be smelted into steel bars, further crafted into steel tools. Steel tools are more powerful than iron and more durable than bronze. Can also be used to make silverish metallic looking blocks with only four blocks. Same deal as Tin, just a different color.
Mithril: Slightly more common than gold. Found only below layer 0. Used along with six coal to make mithril mix, which can be smelted into mithril bars, which can be used to make mithril tools. Mithril tools are equivalent to the to the non diamond gemstone tools (will explain later), and when wielded, you can run faster and jump higher.
Adamantite: The rarest ore in the game, being four times rarer than diamond. Adamantite is used along with eight coal to make adamantite bars, which can be crafted into adamantite tools, which are as powerful as mithril, and have infinite durability. This is of course balanced by the rarity of adamantite.
Sapphire, emerald, and ruby. All found below layer 20. Slightly more common than gold. Can be used to make tools which are not quite as powerful or durable as diamond. They have about 1400 used, while diamond has a buffed up 2000 uses.
These tools all have special abilities, along with diamond.
Sapphire tools dont loose power underwater. Sapphire armour provides much reduced fall damage and drown damage.
Emerald tools have a further reach, which is really useful for chopping down big trees. Emerald armour provides increased resistance to arrows.
Ruby tools auto smelt. This means stone gives smooth stone, ores give bars, sand gives glass, wood gives charcoal.
The sword also deals lava damage to mobs. Ruby armour provides increased fire resistance
Diamond tools break more than one block at a time. Ore veins get destroyed when one block is destroyed, stone mines in 2X2 fashion, super useful for tunneling, dirt, sand, and gravel also digs 2X2, trees get destroyed with one block broken. This might be considered overpowered. Thats why its a suggestion. Diamond armour makes you invinsible to all explosions except for ones that are right next to you.
Gold also has special abilities: The tools regenerate over time. When broken, they make a 'broken gold tool' which turns into a healthy gold tool in 20 minutes. Perhaps 'spells' (disccussed later) could auto repair it.
Also, they mine special blocks other tools cant:
Pickaxe mines ice and ore blocks (gemstone, coal, redstone)
Shovel digs snow tiles
Hoe digs grass blocks
Axe mines glass and lightstone blocks (extremely useful)
Gold and gemstones can be crafted into jewelry, which has special abilities. There are three types of jewelry. Crowns, rings, and necklaces. Crowns take up the head slot, the other two have there own slots.
Necklaces:
Sapphire: Increased hold breath time, suffocation damage is much slower
Emerald: Increased Defense. Provides an extra full leather armour worth of defense that lasts forever. Can be used along with armour to provide excellent protection.
Ruby: Attacks deal more damage to mobs, by 2 hearts.
Diamond: A mix of 2/3 the defense that emerald provides, 2/3 the strength ruby provides, 2/3 the hold breath sapphire provides, and slightly reduced suffocation damage.
Rings:
Sapphire: Faster swimming
Emerald: When you have your hand out, you can break all blocks with the effect of the corresponding wooden tool used to break it. Used as a cheap infinite durability option with convenience of not requiring items.
Ruby: HEAVILY decreased lava damage and an inability to be caught on fire by other means. Has a 'durability' of about 40 hearts of damage dealt toward the player.
Diamond: Instead of dying, you get telported to either your spawn point or an area you choose by a spell, and you keep your items. Has five uses. (Inspired by the ring of life from runescape)
Crowns:
Sapphire: Less affect of gravity. You fall slow enough to where you dont suffer fall damage. You also jump higher.
Emerald: Attracts animals (And hostile mobs on hard)
Ruby: Repels animals, and reduces the range at which monsters will try to attack you.
Diamond: Chance of getting more ores per block is increased. Increased mining speed (provides an extra wooden pickaxe worth of speed)
Looks like it will be a great mod! but as for suggestions dose it matter what kind they are is there a type your looking for? im guessing your looking for realizem ideas so here some of mine
Make the mod so that as you travel higher and higher you begin to lose air because it becomes less think so you have trouble traveling to high into the air without some means of air supply. And when making tunnels underground if they get sealed off you have a limited air supply based how large the chamber is. To help progress ferther up or down you can plant things and that will give you an air supply for anything nearby.

And volcanos!
Volcanoes are on my list. I also thought about the air thing, but I think that's a bit too far for now. Considering that that would require air to "disappear" or change or something. Maybe though. After I get everything done. If I get everything done.

Will post more later. Do you like these ideas?
Yes, those are good ideas. Most of it would be easy to implement, some hard. I could add it, but I won't add it to the ideas section until I'm further along with the mod.
-Craftable arrow heads from bronze, iron, mithril, adamantite, gemstone, diamond. Used to make better arrows than flint ones.
-Maple, palm, fruit, oak, Yew, willow, redwood, teak, and mahogany trees. All these new trees (and pine and birch), have corresponding saplings. Some trees make different tiers of planks, which make different tiers of bow and arrows.
Tier1: Normal, birch, fruit, palm. Make standard planks, and standard bows. Shoots flint arrows.
Tier2: Oak. Common tree that must be cut down with a stone or better axe. Makes oak bows which shoot bronze arrows
Tier2: Pine. Common tree in corresponding biomes. Requires stone axe and up. Makes lighter colored pine planks and bows. Shoots iron arrows.
Tier3: Willow. Uncommon tree found near lakes and river. Requires bronze axe or higher. Make medium toned planks and bows. Shoots steel arrows.
Tier4: Maple. Rare tree found in various biomes. Requires Iron or better axe. Makes orangish brown planks and bows. Shoots mithril arrows that travel farther than other arrows.
Tier5: Teak. Rare tree found in island/tropical biomes. Requires steel or better axe. Makes pinkish brown planks and bows. Shoots adamantite arrows that never break/disappear.
Tier6: Redwood. Tall tree that is common in corresponding biomes, but those biomes are rare. Req steel or better. Makes redish brown planks/bows. Shoots ruby arrows that catch enimes on fire.
Tier 7: Yew. Very rare tree found in various biomes. Makes darkish brown planks/bows that fire sapphire arrows that travel in the water.
Tier 8: Sequoia. Super rare tree found only in certain biomes. Makes darkish planks that fire emerald arrows, which 'poison' enemies.
Tier 9: Mohagany. Extremely rare tree found only in islands at least 2000 blocks away from spawn. Makes very dark planks and the 'dark bow' which fires diamond arrows that destroy blocks, and kill mobs in 1 hit.

Will post more later. Do you like these ideas?
Make the mod so that as you travel higher and higher you begin to lose air because it becomes less think so you have trouble traveling to high into the air without some means of air supply. And when making tunnels underground if they get sealed off you have a limited air supply based how large the chamber is. To help progress ferther up or down you can plant things and that will give you an air supply for anything nearby.
And volcanos!
Volcanoes are on my list. I also thought about the air thing, but I think that's a bit too far for now. Considering that that would require air to "disappear" or change or something. Maybe though. After I get everything done. If I get everything done.
Sorry for the clutter/unorganization.
