The items should be saved to your account on minecraft.net and allow you to use them on MP servers that permit "Bonus Weapons" (But do not let them spawn on the server to prevent imposters, and can be disabled via server)
That would be damn near impossible, as the client does not communicate with minecraft.net in any way, except to verify weither you are premium, it does not store any information, Notch would have to implement this for that to be anywhere near possible, as mods do not affect the Minecraft.net site in any way, shape or form.
Or The Final Boss Could Be A Mix Of EVERY mob in the game, Zombie, Skeleton, Creeper, Ghast, Pigmen, Spider, Pig, Cow, Chicken, etc.
So a flying creature, who shoots fireballs in rapid succession, that act like TNT and blow up? that would be creeper ghast and skeleton, nothing else would able to be added, zombies just chase ya and chomp your brains pigmen's only thing is there are hive-minded in the sense they protect their own, pigs cows and chickens are not aggressive, spiders only thing is the jump attack, flying is better than jumping imho.
Yes.
YES.
YEEEES.
I've loved the concept of having endgame content for Minecraft and I've thought about this a few times.YES,SO VERY YES.
Also, the sprites you made for the rewards are epic.
ANOTHER IDEA:Make multiple kinds of artifacts, some rarer than others for more endgame awesomeness!
Also,I don't really like the idea of bosses with this. Not only would it be mostly impossible(what if the world generates the artifact in the middle of stone, then there would be no space for the boss to spawn),but people are suggesting some ridiculous ideas on how the boss would look like.

Yo dawg I heard you like playing Portal so now you can play Portal while playing Minecraft while going to Hell.
this...... just one uber boss like some sort of dragon or flying mob that is huge! so, no bosses. just one
how about none >>
I understood what you were saying, but just wanted to disagree with you while agreeing with you.
Make sense? No? Too bad. not being rude, well sort of am but not really.
I love this idea, and support most of it. The one thing I do not support, is the unbreakable stuff that you craft with the artifacts.
I think they should break, after an extremely long amount of time. And once all of your artifacts are gone, the game will ask you if you want to generate 10 more artifacts, in different, random locations than before.

if some higher beings ever got to view this forum before coming to our planet they would turn back and not bother!
A reward could be an item of some sort that can enchant any construction item you like (pickaxe, axe, sword, shovel) to give it infinite durability, can only be used once.
This would be amazing, really spice up PVP servers and make a reason to go to war with someone. I think each artifact should have some sort of power on its own as well, although minimal. but just enough to give that person an edge/ make for interesting combat over the other ones.
It's a really great idea and I don't know if I read it right or wrong but I'll just throw this into the ring in case it wasn't included.
Placing 'only' 10 of these artifacts across the entire world would be near impossible to ever find for those that like to find stuff like this.
However, placing more than 10 (while still only needing 10 to complete it) would seem that it might give the users a better chance of actually finding 10 of these artifacts.
Think how annoying it would be that you've somehow managed to find 9 artifacts, and then you've played for months on the same world and just never come up with that 10th artifact because it's not being injected into the terrain until maybe the very last chunk on the opposite edge of the map which you'll never actually get to anyway, since few (relatively) ever do see an edge of the map.
Just gotta say, love the idea. The concept of this in SMP is the most alluring to me, though. I'm seeing this as sort of a Dragonball-esque thing, where after getting all 10 and they are used, they disperse and it starts all over again.
I might suggest making it either 8 or 16, though. The numbers are a theme in the game.
Im a builder! not a fighter!
