Final boss could be something like a creeper drawn carriage that is lead by spiders and skeletons riding in the carriage on top of a bubbling volcano with zombies climbing the sides. so your both timed and can fall to your death or splod. This isnt madness this is SPARTA.

Lets think realisticly shall we?
How about a centaur being ridden by a Skeleton w/ a bladed bow.
It drops a bladed bow! Derp.
like the idea :biggrin.gif:, however what about once you find all the artifacts you an put them into a crafting bench and obtain a trophy of some sorts to place wherever you like, and if you lose your trophy, it reappears in your inventory :tongue.gif:

What would you get for getting all these? I mean, is there a certain thing you can make with all of them? A reward?
when you get all of the artifacts, then, in single player, it would unlock something like the single player commands mod, or possibly even beta creative mode.

Perhaps one could set in options whether they want a small spread (you shouldn't have to make a world larger than... say... 50 mb?), an average spread (150?), a large (250? 500?), and infinite (you may get lucky and find it within a few chunks, or you may never finish because the are at opposite ends of the earth)?
Whabbout my ideas :sad.gif: I do like the idea of the final item being usable as a teleporter to a dungeon. Maybe a maze? I think we could combine it with my idea too...

Dude, minecraft is SUPPOSED to take a long time....
Normally, I hate any idea that has anything to do with putting a goal into Minecraft, but I think this idea is really good. I think:
-It should not be normal in single-player, but players have the option of downloading a mod from the site that lets them have this in the game.
-It could be a new game mode for SMP in which players race to find the artifacts. It can also have the option of turning dead players into "ghosts", and the player who finds the most artifacts before dying wins. (if players are tied, then whoever collected that number first wins; if all players are dead except for one, then the last player has to beat the person in first place within a specified amount of time to win)
How about when you generate a world it gives you the option to add artifacts???
Or maybe the endgame block could be the only block (besides air lol) that spawns at ANY level. It'd make it alot more exciting without having to look completely underground.

Issue: Some of us can't handle large worlds
Thank you for playing. Would you like to try reading comprehension again? y/n/q
EDIT: Just looked again. I owe you an apology. I just realized how my post could be read
When I said some of us can't handle large worlds, I mean our computers
Would this count as Murphy's Law? Trying to be polite for the most part, only for the one time you happen to be a bit rude on purpose being the time that the rudeness made one look like a fool due to their own reading failure?
What if the artifacts only spawned in the world after a certain point in the game, for instance after you obtain your first iron tool, or after you obtain obsidian, or lightstone, or kill a ghast? This way, you could play the game on a small map (since your computer has trouble with larger ones,) but still including the challenge of finding them.
realllly awesome idea, but i too would like it to have a reward, maybe and unbreakable pick? for all the million you went through to get those things XD
I've got an idea for the ultimate tool theroy
In order to craft it, have the 3X3 grid on a bench include

where = artifact
= said tool
I think an ultimate tool seems like a reasonable reward, especially if it only drops once.
OOOH! Yah, ultimate tool would be awesome. So, if we combine ALL of our ideas, I believe we can make a REALLY cool idea. Like, 9 artifacts you've gotta find then craft them together to make the ultimate artifact, then the ultimate artifact is also the ultimate tool. So the ultimate tool can dig like diamond, pick like diamond, cut like diamond etc., all in a single tool! Also, if you put together a nether portal but instead activate it with the artifact by right clicking on it, It'll transport you to the dungeon area with the boss (maybe a maze to get to the boss room, then a treasure chamber behind the boss room?). After beating the boss you get a new artifact, the final artifact in a chest in the middle of the treasure room. Then you combine both artifacts to create the REAL final artifact and search the over-world for an altar that lead to the place you place the final artifact in and the game ends. I think that would be a good idea maybe, although a little complicated...after the game ends, the ultimate artifact is put back in your inventory, and you can keep building like, forever, but with the satisfaction you beat the game, like with a next to the save file? Also, the spawn rate of diamond and gold ore increases so you can find it easier AND you gain the ability to search for dungeons easier. OR, this could be a new mode alltogether, perhaps...quest mode, challenge mode, or story mode?
I love the idea of the artifacts, though I don't really see the point of the "ultimate artifact/tool" thing. It seems like a good end-game goal sort of thing and just what Notch is looking towards, but I still don't like the idea of the ultimate tool.
I'm really liking this idea. One thing I love to do is explore, and this would give me a great reason to do it. However, maybe there could be a reason to look for the artifacts? I'd assume that since you washed ashore in this new world, you wouldn't know about any artifacts there. Maybe you could find a mysterious sign posted on the nearest tree to your spawn point that briefly hints about the artifacts? Or maybe you could include Shockah's Functional Books mod and find books describing the artifacts in dungeon chests? Perhaps when the book is spawned in the chest, it can check to see where the closest artifact is and give the basic Cardinal direction to it.
Then again.. the player does tend to wake up and immediately punch trees, so I guess he'd just assume artifacts are hanging around :tongue.gif:.

I make the Artifact mod.

Yeah...you lost it.
Or perhaps you could unlock the ability to completely negate falling or fire damage.
