People keep complaining that theres no real prize to getting all the artifacts, but its quite hard to find something THAT awesome.
An idea is that getting all the artifacts gives you the ability to traverse "space" but only to one planet, and "space" is infinite, as are the number of planets, and each time you go to one of these planets using the artifacts, they regenerate A SECOND TIME in that planet (you will have a way back to earth of course) and you will have to find them again to travel to other planets. (maybe you could add a craftable stargate or something that lets you give it any symbols you want and those can be used to access that planet, or dimension my putting them in another gate) Just a side note: I like science fiction.
Alright, sorry for the incredibly long time between this update and the last. I know I'd promised you guys a new thread page, and I still have some screenshots to post up. I'm posting from mobile, so sorry if there's weird formatting issues.
Like always, life has kind of slowed my progress on the mod. Without going into too much detail and seeming like I'm fishing for a "pity-party", suffice to say I've had some bad luck. This doesn't mean I'll be stopping work, it's simply to submit a reason for the lack of substantial updates.
That being said, I believe Sas is busy with his multitude of other projects, and I don't believe he'll be able to devote that much time into the project. As it stands right now, I'm in the market for a couple of programmers to help me out. Not that it won't get done otherwise, but I could use someone to help lighten the workload. I already have a few prospects in mind, but if you feel you have the knowhow and the drive to want to help, please PM me.
I'll set about getting a more enjoyable update soon. Sorry again, guys.
Great!!!! GREAT!!!!!! mod, couple of things though... what version of minecraft are you modding it for? it doesn't say it here or on the tumbler... secondly, you should update to forge mod loader, make mods as extensive as this one become really really great mods!!! lastly, when are you planing to have it compleated by, i would love to include this mod in my modpack!!!
Alright. Again, long time no see. I could make excuses about personal things preventing updates, but I won't.
I haven't had the chance to talk with Saspiron in some time now. So there's that.
I believe, to answer Sonorpearl and Tylorbane, the mod was always intended to work with Forge. That was a decision made before I joined the group, or whatever you might call it. I personally don't enjoy Forge much, but since so many people want it, it's hard to say no, especially since my wishes aren't held over the original artists.
I promise that work IS being done, and I intend to release the mod, whenever that may be, for the current patch at the time, but I may be one or two patches behind by the time it makes it out. We'll just have to see, as again, I'm one person trying to manage a business during the day and night, and this in my free time.
If anyone out there believes they have the experience necessary and would like to help, I'm all ears. Otherwise, just know I'm working on it and be a little happier? Not much reassurance, but what else can be done.
See if I can't get some screenshots up and posted. Honestly, I haven't even been on the Tumblr that much, and when the new thread for this mod gets launched, that'll more than likely be the place to go for the mod.
I saw this thread WAAAY back, and thought it was as fantastic then as I do now. I'm quite sorry about your life troubles, and I'm especially sorry that I can't help you out with the mod (it seems like it would be an awesome experience, but I just don't have the know-how). I'm eagerly awaiting more news, anyway, and hope that we can play this thing in the near future!

The mod has been given a nudge in the right direction, as I now have the aid of a seemingly fairly talented programmer, Eearslya. We've trashed what I'd had programmed already (not much) in lieu of starting over on 1.6. Work is being done in earnest now, and we should have something to show for it very soon.
As such, the new thread will be started soon. I'll also, although I was given access to the old Tumblr, start a new one so it will be easier to keep under watch, if we decide we need or want one anyways. I will probably just keep the forum listing up to date more often. Will have some screens to share by the time the new thread is up as well.
Nice to see this mod is being worked on again. It was quite possibly the mod that I anticipated the most back in the day. I do have a couple questions for you.
1. Do you plan on holding off on a release until it is finished, like Kirb was? If not, what do you have planned for the first release? Personally, I believe an initial release of the mod with simply Keystone generation and the Divining Stone would be entertaining for quite a while.
2. What do you think about adding multiple Labyrinth designs for each color? The way I would imagine this working is that, upon entering the Labyrinth for the first time, the game randomly selects from the designs for that color and then that design will be the one it loads, when playing on that save file, from then on. It would add a great deal of replay value to the mod.
Of course, I know this would add an incredible amount of work to an already large project. Therefore, if you was to do this, I would suggest crowdsourcing the creation of the additional Labryinth designs. Then you and the other people on the project (which as far as I know is only Eearslya) could check and implement the Labryinth designs submitted. This way, if each of you divided up the checking and implementation of Labryinths, then each of you would have unknown Labryinths to look forward to when you go to play the mod youselves.
If you are interested in this idea, could you post some general guidlines for what you are looking for in a Labryinth design. That way I can go ahead and see what I can do about designing a Labryinth or two (probably a Green, possibly a Blue).
I would like to wish you and Eearslya the best of luck on this mod.
Nice to see this mod is being worked on again. It was quite possibly the mod that I anticipated the most back in the day. I do have a couple questions for you.
1. At the moment it's hard to actually say where we're at in the development process, let alone guess as to the first release. As it stands, we have the Orbs (Keystones, if you will), a few items, and a ton of the NPC models done, albeit without animation as that isn't my particular expertise in MC (Keep in mind I haven't modded anything since Alpha).
I'd like to say we plan on releasing snapshots as soon as it becomes a "playable" package. That being said, I'd like to stress I do mean playable. I don't intend on releasing just with a few items in place, as it'd be a bit pointless. I don't mean we need all the dungeons done, but as you stated, being able to find and at least collect the orbs could be a neat venture. This is also not just my personal decision, as Eearslya has proven, as I've said before, to be a great, tremendous driving force behind the actual coding while I play catch up and get the hang of Forge.
2. That is a very good idea. It's something I'll take into consideration, but as for now, we're at least a moderate distance from working the Labyrinths out. However, if we use that idea, I'll do my best to make sure you get credited somehow with it.
I am, actually interested. The new thread is going up soon (crying wolf on my part, I know it's been some time) and afterwards if you ask that question once again if I haven't by then set up some guidelines, I will be sure to give them to you. I'd like to mention that at that time, I am literally only one person and can't look through 18 submissions per submitter. If you'd like to attempt a couple, keep in mind our current Labyrinth needs include (which may slightly contradict the infograph on the first post): Blue (Water), Red (Fire), Yellow (Unsure, probably keeping with the technology theme already presented with the factory), Green (Earth), White (Light), and Black, which is of course dark.
I do already have enemy NPCs already modeled for some of these areas, but a good enough idea in another direction is more than enough for me to cater to it. If you'd enjoy tackling one of these designs, PM me with which you'd like more detail on, or simply start building and send me some shots of what you've come up with via a PM.
Alright guys, time to go public with something that's been excessively dragging progress on the mod down quite a bit.
About right after I took over on this mod, I was diagnosed with Cancer. I didn't want to make it public because I thought it'd take "morale" down concerning whether or not the mod would ever be finished. I'm making it known now, because I just had surgery, and after I heal up from it fully I'll not need to go through chemo any more, so I'll be back in shape as far as coding and programming goes.
Programmer Eearslya should get large amounts of respect, because as it's been so far, he has been the one person who's actually pushed this mod while I've been struggling to get by. He deserves anything you'd give him, as he's been doing loads of work that I should have been doing in the first place. He's a great coder, and an even better guy, from what I've seen.
SO. That out of the way, work should honestly start in true earnest now. I know I've said that quite a bit, but obviously I truly mean that now. All I have to do is convalesce a bit and I'll be back in the game. We have some screenshots to share, and I'll be linking the new thread sooner than later. I'm going to try to get Kirb to log back on ONCE more and maybe put the new thread link at the top of this front post, so people know where to go from here on out.
Thanks again for your tremendous patience, guys. We'll do our best to make it worth your while.
Well, good luck with kicking cancer's ass! I've been looking forward to this mod ever since it was first posted, so when/if this comes out i will be ready to get back into minecraft! Good Luck!!!~
Is this going to be SMP soon? If so, does that mean that there will be a way to generate enough dungeons / labyrinths for players on the server? Or a way to delete completed ones? Also, will items be configurable because unbreakable seems OP in SMP
Alright, let me clarify a few things as to the state of the mod:
As it sets, the mod isn't truly "playable". we have some basic generation thanks to Eearsyla, but the bulk of the mod, mostly the beginning of the WorldGen code for the altars and labyrinths, is wholly unfinished, as it was my task to complete those things. I'm on the road to recovery, so hopefully soon, full steam will be applied to the mod.
I understand with the current state of this thread things can get confusing. If someone is in need of an update, the last 3 pages should be of use. Soon, I hope to get Kirb to log in once more to update this thread with the newer threads link. The new thread should have many more up to date, well... updates. It will also have the few less than impressive screenshots we have, hopefully reviving the faith in the mod, as I'm sure some have lost it completely with how we've managed it thus far.
If you guys have any more questions, feel free to ask here, or PM me. Although I'm SUPPOSED to get email (instant) updates when either happens, I frequently don't, so posting here on the forums may be a less private but more expedient system.
