I've attempted to contact Kirb to get his permission to continue work on this, but I can't get a reply. I don't approve of finishing an idea without the originators consent, but if I don't hear back soon, I might start one similar. I haven't been coding for MC (Or Java for that matter) for very long, but it isn't a far shoot from C++ I'd imagine, so I'll just have to wait and see if I get a reply. If not, well,, I don't know. May start a similar mod, while trying to steer clear of the ideas mentioned and incorporated here so as not to step on ACTUAL intellectual property.
Right I'm not dead! I've been pretty busy with work and school along with building my resume portfolio for when I can get an interview. Planning this thing is massive! I'll give you an idea of how far along I'm in.
I don't have my code book on my since I'm at school right now but here's what I've gotten through so far.
Monster entries: 34 entries, roughly 300 planned. 1 Prototype. no complete builds. Progress: Roughly 12%
Behavior progress: 15%, Total Behavior Categories: 7-8.
Items: 158+ (this is off the top of my head!)entries, 2-300 planned. 0 prototypes, no complete builds. Item Progress: 34-40%
Terrain Generation Progress: 0% 18 Entries, 0 prototypes. no complete builds. Progress: 5%
Player alterations: 0 entries, 4-10 planned, 0 prototypes, no complete builds. Progress: 1%
Textures: TBD, 0 entries, unknown planned (more than 100), 0 prototypes, no complete builds. Progress: unknown.
Total Progress: 4%
Current Phase: planning
Estimated Time till full prototype build: unknown.
Notes*:
-Block entries are placed under items.
-forge may or may not be required
-I need more Coders/ friends to help me along
-Texture artists needed badly
Please remember I'm still in planning! I've filled at least 2 notebooks with references and ideas at the very least! And for the love of god. Please remember I'm only TRYING! there's no guaranteed release for this from me. I've also had to change a few things to make them fit more properly within my skill limits, not a whole lot but enough that it'll be slightly different than the original.

Oh I'll start carrying the book around when I'm at school. So feel free to chat with me about ideas you have on Tuesdays and Thursdays!
Ok so I'm back home and got my code book in my hands. so I'll show you what I've got down so far. *Warning* Wall of text ahead!
KeyStones:
Keystones are the foundation of the artifacts mod. Everything is based off of finding them to unlock more power. As such, they will be frustratingly rare and hard to obtain. Boss battles and puzzles may or may not be involved.
In Total there will be 8 Keystones. 7 Have to be found, One is crafted for Divination.
WARNING REAL SPOILERS AHEAD!
Blank Keystone:
Description: "A Blank Piece of clay molded into the shape of an arrowhead. Used in the process of Divining the location of other keystones".
Attributes: None
Required for: Divining the locations of Keystones and later to find the labyrinths.
Divination Value: 1
The Blank Keystone is literally a blank slate. Used to find other keystones players would create these from clay (or mud if they can't find clay) To find a keystone the blank keystone (lets call it the blank for now) must be charged with energy of the same type as other keystones. so for example: to find the earth dungeon you would charge the keystone with dirt, stone, and such. (This will be explained later on in the "Divination" section)
Clear Keystone:
Description: "A glass feather that weighs almost nothing. If you let it go it'd probably float away..."
Attributes: Run Speed increased
Required for: The "Glacen" (Glass) Labyrinth
Divination Value: TBD
Sharp Keystone:
Description: The Tip of what appears to be a blade made from Iron. Touching it can lead to cuts"
Attributes: Increased damage using ALL weapon types. (magic may or may not be included)
Required for: The "Accialo" (Steel) Labyrinth
Divination Value: TBD
Shiny Keystone:
Description: "A small uncut gem with a golden hue. It emits a soft pale yellow light"
Attributes: Fortune 1 on all accessible drops
Required for: The "Crystallo" (Crystal) Labyrinth
Divination Value: TBD
Wet Keystone:
Description: "A chipped cup made from what appears to be some kind of marble. It Feels Moist even in the desert"
Attributes: Health Regeneration
Required for: The "aquis" (Water) Labyrinth
Divination Value: TBD
Dirty Keystone:
Description: "A smooth pebble covered in spots and lines. Smells of dirt and grass"
Attributes: Hunger drops slower (food lasts longer)
Required for: The "Earthica" (Stone) Labyrinth
Divination Value: TBD
Fancy Keystone:
Description: "A Ring with several unknown gems embedded in in. Those who wear it seem to withstand battle longer."
Attributes: Increased Armor
Required for: The "regal" Labyrinth
Divination Value: TBD
Black Keystone:
Description: "A Piece of Crystal as dark as the void. some swear you can hear it whisper"
Attributes: TBD
Required for: Corin Labyrinth
Divination Value: HIGH
-Keystones are found in strongholds, mine shafts, temples and towns.
-Each keystone has an ability that is activated on right click that alters the players abilities (run faster, breath -under water, jump higher, ect.)
-only one ability can be used at any time.
-Keystones will be indestructible (at least as far as I can make them be) and if one is lost or destroyed they -will re-spawn in a generated chest somewhere.
-Molds of keystones can be made to acquire high tier tools later on.
-Keystones may be required for item based spells.
Divination:
Divination revolves around using maps, Scrying the location of keystones, labyrinths and other places (such as dungeons and strongholds).
To Divine a place requires the use of a Scrying alter, a Divining staff, Blank Keystones and a map that's already filled out. To Scry a place or keystone you place a map on the altar and use a charged blank to slowly etch a location onto the map. this gives the player a general area to search. then using the charged blank on a divining staff to pinpoint the object.
Labyrinths:
In total there are 7 dungeons. 6 appear in the overworld and the last in the nether. To enter a dungeon you need a keystone and a sacrifice of items. Items are placed in a altar like chest that are removed when the keystone is used on the altar. The keystone is then set in the altar and the sacrifices are destroyed.
I'm falling asleep right now so I'll finish this up tomorrow. I hope this is enough to sate you till then.
Well, I've spoken briefly with the last Dev that was working on this mod, and Kirb has, as he posted, moved on to other things. We're discussing continuing work on the mod, though, so good news there.
Neither of us know who you are at the moment. Neither meaning myself and Saspiron/Mike4560. I don't mean any disrespect, we simply don't know where you're pulling those numbers from. Saspiron has spoken directly with Kirb, and we're working on getting what was left of the mod together to continue some work. I won't go into details at the moment, but we ARE discussing the production of this further.

EDIT: Okay, after reading back through some of the older posts (Really just the last page), I can see your other posts, @hamsterking5. If you'd be willing to help, I'm sure we'd not mind another person on the team, of course, being brand new myself, I can't make too many decisions like that at all. Just supposition. PM me or Saspiron and we'll see what's going on.

Its Just A general list of items I've thought up or planned out. I decided to be rather more extensive with my version. And it's become rather unruly as of late. Its not a list of what I'm going to do. Just a list of items I have planned/thought of. I'm also glad to hear you're thinking of starting this up again!
P.S. The list was made off the top of my head based around the last time i reviewed my notes. I've looked back in my book and the amount of entries is far less.
Ahem. Gentlemen, I request that you update this amazing mod. Please, for my sanity. MY SANITY REQUIRES IT! I want it.. -sniff- So... bad... So *PLEASE* update this mod. If you don't, I swear I will learn how to make mods and do it myself! At least do somethin' like a conversion to 1.4.7 'r sum-tin like dat.
Alright, as a common courtesy, I'll set a few things straight so far. Keep in mind, I'm new to this whole thing, so I can't promise that what I say is honestly 100% fact, but I promise that I am stating how things are to the best of my current knowledge.
One of the original Devs of the mod (Saspiron/Mike4560) and myself, CyrusDragonas, have gotten explicit permission to continue work on Kirb's original synopsis and previous creations. We have only JUST started, and have a very real, winding road to follow to get going on this.
I personally have just finished rebuilding my own PC to continue working on this, and Saspiron obviously has some other projects and things to do with his own life, like we all do. We don't have every hour of every day to put towards this project, but we obviously wouldn't be taking the torch on this if we didn't feel we could do it justice.
We are currently going through the loose bits of notes, tickets, and actual work left from what was done towards this mod, and we will begin work in earnest very shortly. We have a few others that are canidates to hop on board here, but as it stands, for now, only Saspiron and myself set on the team, so please be understanding.
I know that's what every larger mod team or even smaller teams ask for, and that almost always is met with general disdain, but we simply can't just set down one night, type up a bit of code and be done. This is an undertaking of some effort. We fully intend at this moment to finish at least the majority of what was intended if not everything down to the letter. It all depends on how well we can work together at the moment. This can be an issue, as we both live in very different timezones.
We greatly appreciate so many people's support over such a long time of absenteeism on the dev side, and we hope to deliver on what you hope you will be recieving. We ask only that you keep in mind that, again, like it ALWAYS gets mentioned in these posts, that we are real people, with real lives, and we have jobs, families, and other things that require attention as well.
You guys are a great following, and hopefully, you'll have something to show for it shortly. I'll attempt to keep up on the posts here, so let me know if I can help answer any questions you may have, but also, keep in mind this is very new to me as well, so don't expect too much at first.
Been following this mod on and off after first discovering it about on another site via the info-graphic. Sad to hear Kirb can't finish it but I do want to say thanks to him for getting something big and nice started. Now to those who are trying to pick it up and continue I thank you too. I've been a fan of this mod for awhile now and was wanting to try it out for the longest time. Do what you can and good luck!
Thanks again for the support. Elated to see so many others were as stoked about the mod as I was. I'll try to keep up here on the forum to answer questions that I can (Which if we're honest isn't a ton at the moment) and keep you guys posted on our progress. We still intend on the majority of the original content, so don't worry too much about that. We'll be working on this soon, as very coincidentally it seems, we both have had personal matters to attend to come up in this first week or so. But, I assure you, we ARE going to get this knocked out, hopefully sooner rather than later.
Have a good one guys! (And gals, to prevent offending peoples)
If/when this mod comes out, it will be the sole reason i will get back into minecraft. I found out about this mod either last summer or two summers ago. I will love you forever Cyrus if you do go through with this. <3
Thanks! Completely understand, I felt close to the same way when I found this mod such a long time ago. I was very happy I could push to bring this back to life.
Remember, though, I'm not the only dev, and Saspiron deserves some love as well, because he came back from having left this dev team some time ago to work on other things, and as he was one of the original devs, he still has much more say in where this goes than I, and more than likely, until I get back into the swing of Java, or Notch's version thereof, he may well be the driving force behind many of the updates, until I get back up to speed. Just because he's a bit more quiet than I (assumedly because he has many other plates spinning at this moment, not for lack of interest in the subject) he is most definitely what will lead this project into the next step, because without his materials, I'd be starting from scratch.
Thanks again everyone. I hope this ends up being as grand as everyone expects.
Remember he said when you get to the end of the labyrinth to the special room there is a secret in there.
