I have a problem.... :-/ whenever i try to make a builder by giving him a brick of either cobble, brick, or a workbench the game crashes... Help?? :-\ (oh and also the builders never spawn but the game crashing periodically might have something to do with that...)
HELP!!!!!!! it dosent let me download the spawnlis (the link dosent work). the mayor and explores spawn but no builders spawn. what did i do wrong???? oh and please fix lag>
I cant quote clearly but:
"...Fixed that in 51.C... Haven't gotten a report since"
Well, not until now. I changed the Homeseeker spawn and max spawn on a flatgrass map. Crashed when loaded.
Changed it back, reloaded the map, crashed when loaded.
Reinstalled both Modloader, Audiomod, then reinstalled your mod, and finally the map. Crashed when loaded.
Is it just the enormity of the flatgrass map?
Anyway, Brilliant mod. for you.
Well, I have been trying to change a lot of code to see if I can isolate what part of the mod is causing the game to freeze so often. However, I have had no success yet. I cannot guarantee I will get these game-freezing bugs fixed anytime soon.

It's alright, man! Take your time, there's no rush to fix it!
Personally I'd wait until the 1.5 update next week's out so you're not doing extra work first ensuring it's fixed in 1.4_01 then ensuring it works with 1.5 but if that's not what you're gonna do then hey - I can respect that. You're the one who created this fun mod, after all!
Getting .schematic files working's not high-priority now, either; after seeing how the Ruins and Millenaire mods implement new structures using text files with custom extensions I have no problem at all with the theoretically-working [default buildings use them to full effect, so anything I create using them -should- be fine?] method of creating a text file for each new building!
I do still have minor issues with them building too often, but given my incomplete understanding of the properties file it's entirely possible that you've already implemented a way to modify this! The best idea I have at the moment is to reduce the builders' spawnrates and decrease the number of buildings that each one can build after spawning, but that still only slows the builderspam problem instead of fixing it completely! I really don't know how to fix this one; the best I could come up with is making a random block in each structure a custom block, then having builders not create any buildings within [x] blocks of the nearest custom block.
This may not be the most elegant solution, however, as it requires you to use up an item ID [no big deal] and a space in the terrain.png [might be a problem, even though it's only a single space?]. The blocks might stick out quite a bit as well depending on factors such as what they look like, what block-type they replace, and where in the structure[s] they replace a block.
From my last post, it happened again: Every time i open a new map, they spawn. When i close Minecraft, reeopen the map, it crashes. I reccomend fixing this ASAP as it could destroy precious save files.
Ok so I am having weird issue... whenever I load into a world now MANY blocks dont spawn, they exist because I can highlight and walk on them but they have no texture and can be seen through (I can see underground etc) and the terrain in distance is loading VERY slowly.
wonderful mod. i got it loaded with more trees and it has been working fine. only once have i had a frozen game, and it wasnt that great of a map. And i have written an enormous building schematic. it takes a builder a mincraftia week to build.
But seriously, wait until 1.5 comes out. also, do the builders spawn in the neather? that would be a cool update. An aggresive neather builder. Again, keep up the good work.

same here and by the looks of his last post it's going to be a beta 1.5 fix not a 1.4_01 fix
until then my diamond mine will be reserved for updated mods and stuff that doesn't crash and corrupt my saves.
you can do it man, i've got a mighty shiny in a chest for you if the crashing is fixed.

I set the mayor Spawn rate up to 2000 and I still can't find any builders(mayors bring builders with them).I am not in any woods.I am in the middle of a desert actually.I put the builders folder in both the .minecraft folder and the bin folder just in case but I still can't find any builders! What can I do?I have AudioMod and modloader installed so I don't know what I did wrong.
Mayor doesn't spawn builders. They spawn on their own spawnrate, and then they follow mayor if they see him.
This maybe trivial, or it may help you. I've read through this and pondered installing the mod. I must say it's quite nice. I did experience a game freeze however. When I placed a "construction zone" sign (note capitalization), the game froze and crashed to desktop. Which is cool, I expected this. re-entering the save the sign was not placed, so on a whim I placed the sign again with "Construction Zone" (note again capitalization) Surprise! It worked fine. I didn't place a space at the end of the word construction before hitting the down arrow to get to the second line.
This might be trivial, and mean that I was just lucky. This could also mean, that however you are parsing the signs is a bit overly picky. I know squat about java, but I do know some other scripting languages. When they aren't parsed the correct way, compilers get cranky. Perhaps that is what happening here?
I look forward to this mod progressing. Also, is there a place to download other building files?
It seems I jinxed myself. No sooner did I post this and try and run my save file again and it froze and crashed. Here's the error log if it helps:

New ores, new tools, new armor, new everything!
Supports 1.5_01, and it works! Also comes in painterly pack style.
Granite, sunstone, emeralds, copper, aluminum (yes, not aluminium),unknown blocks, the list goes on, and on, and on!
I'm sorry to say, but this mod is too buggy for me. I have found one mayor in the wild in all my searching. With SSP, I can only spawn Homebuilders and Explorers, nobody else. When I give a homebuilder anything, the game crashes. I would post the error message and code, but it flashes away too fast before shutting down minecraft and anything else I have open.
I hope with 1.5, the next version will be much better. I am going to wait until then to try this mod out again.

Mods installed: AudioMod, Fishcraftory, Dr Zhark's Mo'Creatures, GUIAPI, ID Resolver, Koi, Level up!, Millenaire, MC Forge, ModLoader, Optifine, Runecraftory, SPC, Spawner GUI, TaleofKingdoms, Timber!, and TMI
~~18 Total (for now)~~
if you have single player commands, you can spawn just about all of them
cobblebuilder
multibuilder
mayor
etc
Only problems I can see is after I place a sign (usually private property) the game save becomes unplayable. Mayors are a bit sparse, but they only really spawn in close to open land. IE not forest. I did see one in a dessert,desert.. a tract of land full of sand. :biggrin.gif: Usually though, I cheat, I just spawn one. >.>
The really big bug is the signs though. Hopefully 1.5 will have it fixed. :smile.gif:
