Yeah, actually my rl friend just keeps giving me hell over it saying that I should add them already xD
For the sake of sakeness I will add them and see what they get as a response
Here's my response even beforehand; make them a general feature of Quarrels, or make it so that it's a specialty quarrel, because enough sand to weight down a pressure pad should be too heavy for a bow to fire.
possible recipe if you're going sandbag quarrel instead of just making it a general feature of quarrels: =bucket of water, to keep the sand packed until it hits, bucket is left in input, = Cloth
[]
]" title="-<->" />
[] ]" title="-<->" /> []
Crafts 4 Quarrels instead of 8. Damage = 1.5, Range = 1/2 to 3/4 of normal quarrel flight distance.
Actually I was thinking more so a sand bag arrow to look like this:
[] []
[] []
= leather
= sand
that creates a sandbag which you then attach to an arrow :biggrin.gif:

Attach it to a quarrel the same way you do with the rope.
my only concern is that it uses the quarrel. It's a basic category type thing. The sling is useful for its simplicity, the bow is useful for its diversity, and the crossbow is useful for its physically stronger firing power(and related abilities, like handling rope attached to the quarrel)
A ranged shot specifically for carrying a weighted object would definitely fall into the category of "needs more power" that the crossbow covers. It might even be something that only the iron crossbow is strong enough to fire AND/OR incur double durability for each "sand bag" fired.
Speaking of which, I think firing a rope Quarrel might be something that should be updated to count as a double use when fired.
Oh, and don't forget, I also mentioned that the "Bait Arrow" (though in this case, Bait Quarrel) could be covered by putting the pork into the ammunition slot the same as for the rope quarrel. That's if you want to add that back in though.
I really dislike the new title, because it is "something-craft" and uses CAPS FOR ATTENTION...
... Please fix it.
So just "Ranged Weapons + Tools" ?

Why not make bacon be able to be slung with a sling shot xD
The actual piece of bacon itself, or maybe just throw it with right click because raw bacon cannot and should not be eaten.
maybe clay should be smelted first, in a blast furnace type thing, to make it like ceramic ammunition.
(i just mean a normal furnace)
it can be like ceramic orbs or something similar and it might have caltrop effect as in when it breaks it laves behind sharp shards of ceramic which damage things that walk over it, just an idea.
EDIT: Oh, just the caps? Thats pretty simple I guess, I will fix it.
Clay balls already smelts into clay bricks, and while it would be pretty funny to throw those by hand using right click, I don't think that's at all suited to be thrown by a sling.
I think I'll update the post I made here to include those. You can just use that as reference when updating the opening post. Are you comfortable with how I have things formatted using all the lists, bold, underlines, different font sizes and goto and anchor tags to be able to add those manually? or are you still basically copying my entire post and pasting it? If so, let me know when you decide on a recipe for the sandbag quarrels and I'll add them into my post to make it easier for you.
EDIT: My post now includes throwable bricks, clay as ammunition for the sling, and also bait being thrown from the sling.
I haven't read through all of the thread but I must propose an idea, simply because I love the thought of more weapons and absolutely love GreyAcumen's Daggers and Boomerang. Next on my list would be throw-able spears that would act similar as arrows, but would be slower, not stackable, and do more damage than arrows. (You've basically described the functions of the spear in your main post, I'm just giving a synopsis.) I liked everything about it until I came to the recipe which altered the shovel's recipe. In order to keep the shovel's recipe but add a new one for the spear I simply came up with this:
Now to my knowledge, this recipe is not in use any where else and thus works perfectly for the spear. It uses the same amount of materials as a shovel, but are re-arranged into an angled pattern. If you had already thought of this, and ended up hitting some sort of balance issue with it please let me know because honestly I don't see why you would have to go through all of the trouble of changing the shovel's recipe when this works perfectly for the spear. Anyways, loving the concept of this mod and hope to see it in mod-form later down the road!
What you need to keep in mind is that all recipes mirror. That recipe looks great, but if that recipe works, then this recipe will automatically work as well:
[] []
[] []
[] []
Doesn't look quite so awesome in that arrangement, does it?
Admittedly, it is a weakness in my dagger recipe as well, but that is needed to fit in with the other hand tools in my 2x2 crafting grid thread, which is where the dagger is from.
Everything would work so much better if the shovels were turned upside down. Either way, the recipes for spears can easily be remembered as simply being "upside down shovels" no matter which way the shovels end up pointing.

You are right in the sense that it would look odd in that direction, but so do fishing rods, staircases, bows, and hoes... I personally don't think that the recipe should be omitted simply because it looks odd in a mirrored arrangement. Nonetheless it was merely a suggestion to make things more simple on your behalf.
Typically, I try to base my recipe knowledge off of the wiki; if you don't believe me when I say that other recipes would look strange or out of place when mirrored.
Edited: In addition to your dagger recipe looking odd mirrored, the boomerang looks strange as well (when mirrored.) But do you see anyone complaining about that?
Only the wooden boomerang looks at all odd in a mirrored direction, and I mentioned myself that my dagger recipes had similar issues.
Anyway, you asked why, I told you. The spear works perfectly fine as an upside down shovel, so that's what I'm going for.
And yes, I'm well aware of the wiki, though I don't see how staircases bows or hoes look any odder when mirrored, though you are correct about the fishing rod, but honestly, that could be fixed by changing the recipe so the sticks go straight up and down, and the string goes diagonally.
Also, Blast Arrows have been given a redesign to become Grenade Arrows(I really wasn't satisfied with the T on the bomb, and a "B" just wouldn't fit, but a very faint G seems to fit okay) they also match up better with the change I made from Dynamite to Grenades in the 2x2 crafting grid suggestion.
EDIT: further updates. I've specified the snowball and eggs as a ranged weapon of their own, and also included new abilities for the snowball; putting out fires, placing snow, and freezing water.
Its obviously a thrown trap though, which in a sense makes it somewhat ranged, even making traps a sub catergory may get this thread more attention.\
Caltrops would be thistles from the cacti blocks, you can place it in a work table to get 4 caltrops. Max stack is 16 caltrops, each one will cover a block, the caltrop covering will damage enemies for 0.5 when stepped on, each covering lasting 20 steps, if you stand on it the covering will provide damage per second WITHOUT wearing out the caltrops.
To show when the caltrops are losing durability the image of the covering will slowly lose caltrops per step until there are none left.
I still haven't added the Sandbag Quarrels, and I also have been considering adding the explosives from the 2x2 Crafting grid thread, since they're both throwable, hence constituting ranged weaponry. Do you want Powder Bombs and Grenades in this thread, Andrew?
The explosive arrows with the T or B symbol on it were perfectly fine, now that you changed the name to Grenade arrow it sounds a bit non-minecraft-y-ish, if you don't like the symbol don't put it on and leave it blank.
And grenades are not Minecraft, they are CoD and any other type of war game involving grenades, leave it dinamite please, it was all sounding good until you said grenade.
Anyways Bricks lol I'm gonna have some fun on SMP whipping bricks at people with slings
And please add caltrops they are nececary to my ninja equipment, all I need now are dyed armour (only leather) and then I'll become ninja
P.S. maybe if you could add long bow and short bow
For future reference
The Shoot per second ratio is
Number of Seconds : Number of Shots
Long Bow
Crafting Recipe :
[]
= Stick
= String
(Idk how to make it more restricting while keeping it realistic)
Can shoot arrows longer distances then shortbow (can crossbows shoot glowstone arrows and stuff? and will there be glowstone quarrels?)
Has a slower shoot per second ratio maybe 1:1 or 0.7:1
Short Bow
Crafting Recipe :
Normal Bow Recipe
Faster Shoot Per Second Ratio, Lower Damage of arrows, can't shoot heavy arrows very far
2:1 maybe?
Cross Bows
Crafting Recipe :
As Shown here
Slowest Shoot Per Second Ratio
Maybe 2 :1
Does Higher Damage

I was also considering adding clay balls as a potential ammunition for the sling; can be thrown as far as a stone bullet, but only does .5 damage.
Actually, I think his issue is more with the ALL CAPS.
Just change it to "Rangecraft - UPDATED"
personally, I tend to refer to it as "Andrew John's Rangecraft" so you might want to go with that if you're not feeling too humble.
