Basically, i'm looking for someone willing to make a fork of CC:Tweaked (originally ComputerCraft by dan200 and later maintained by SquidDev) for Fabric with the following twists:
First of all, a crucial feature that wasn't included in stock CC:T by choice (i think), that is an option on the config (or gamerule, see point 3) to allow computers/turtles to act as chunk loaders and keep the chunk they are in loaded and ticking - this is essential for long-range contraptions from a GPS constellation to tunnels far from the player. Can be off by default, if performance is something to consider, but as a chance to enable if the player wants to;
Since vanilla got so much new metals and stuff since ComputerCraft was first released in 2011, a revamp of the computer/turtle recipes would be interesting. Some examples of recipes could be:
(Simple/first tier) Computer - (represented as a iron block on the image) - instead of using only stone, redstone and glass to build, now use iron ingots as basic material, copper (since they are used in eletronics irl), and if Bronze is installed as well replace the second copper ingot with tin (that is also used in eletronics if i'm not mistaken), and of course keeping redstone and (any color) glass pane too.
(Simple/first tier) Turtle - (computer is represented by the iron block, turtle as the command block) - Also update the "transformation" recipe reflecting the new materials, now using just iron nuggets, the computer and any container block with the same capacity of regular chests (so Shulker Boxes and Barrels also be accepted).
(Advanced/second tier) Computer - brand-new block (computer is represented by the gold block - Same logic of the simple computer, but with gold ingot instead of iron ingot.
(Advanced/second tier) Computer - transformation from advanced computer; represented by a Chain Command Block - same logic from the Turtle recipe above, but with gold nuggets instead of iron nuggets;
Simple -> Advanced computer/turtle (tier upgrade) - simple computer/turtle represented as iron block; advanced ones as gold blocks - Simple as surronding a basic computer/turtle in gold ingots would upgrade them to advanced ones; i'm partial to, instead of another gold nugget in the bottom center slot, add (any) dye to the recipe as the main difference between simple and advanced stuff is the possibility to use colors in advanced while in simple they are totally black-and-white
Tweak some of the (possible) config options to be changed via gamerules instead;
Add a "Minecart with turtle" and a set of LUA functions that would allow the turtle to move the minecart programaticably; this alongside something on the lines of Linkart would allow long-distance railroads possible without the need of something more complex like TrainCarts (since tricks like the GPS mentioned above already allow computers and turtles to know their position on the world);
[Optional] Add a "third computer/turtle tier" (based on netherite/some end or ancient city stuff?) in that the computer would boot a virtual machine instead of the standard CraftOS - same concept of VM Computers, or, if more easy, boot a web browser - the concept of WebDisplays. Either choice would also introduct a respective tier of monitors capable of render their contents;
[Optional] Support for snapshots (specially the ones that introduce game drops) and April fools updates (really optional; only if the person willing to do it has time and resources to do that);
Since the CC:Tweaked repository is multiloader-focused, perhaps the complexity would be too much for anyone willing to implement such feats. In this case, maybe using CC:Restitched code (that is Fabric-only) as a starting point instead could ease things in some way.
Was thinking on this for a while...
