I am not a modder or a programmer, I can barely operate Microsoft Excel, so if you are interested in taking on this mod idea or any element from it, please feel free to do so. I would be happy to elaborate on any of these ideas or contribute creatively in any way I can. If you like the idea or know anyone who might be interested please share this with them!
The idea for this mod is to augment and elevate the Minecraft players experience without sacrificing any of the games core mechanics. Many of these ideas have been talked about or done before but I believe that this mod idea integrates the ideas into Minecraft in a more balanced way, utilising Minecraft's established elements and game mechanics.
Directional buttons on a piston. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Directional buttons on a motor.
Directional buttons are a two button system with a positive and negative button, allowing for incremental adjustments to a redstone signal strength, or say, the extension of a piston.
When combined with a motor, the directional buttons allow for the incremental rotation of a block or structure of blocks connected to the rotational face of the block. Each button press can adjust the angle of the block by 5° increments in either direction.
Dispenser on top of a motor. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ A motor rotating a dispenser. _ _ _ Duel motor system.
When combined with a vanilla dispenser the motor can form an effective stationary turret, firing fire charges.
By combining both a vertically and horizontally oriented motor, a turret can achieve a full range of rotation.
Motor surrounded by obsidian. _ _ _ _ _ _ TNT catapult on top of a motor.
Duel TNT catapults on top of a motor. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Rotatable TNT battlements.
One example of a useful and fun application of these features in PVP and base defence would be rotatable TNT turrets.
Although the usual rules of immovable blocks such as obsidian and glazed terracotta apply, I believe redstone elements should be able to both move and function while on rotated/misaligned blocks. I also believe this mod would benefit from a greater push limit for rotating and pushing blocks.
Engines & Crafts:
Small craft with a single piston engine. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Craft with a 6 piston engine.
Craft control blocks - Yaw, thrust and pitch. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Catapult battery.
With the combination of engine blocks, vanilla pistons and motors, a player could build an array of multi-block engine structures of varying size, power and methods of propulsion.
Perhaps with wheels or tracks a craft could be propelled to move on land, over blocks with a player moving freely on top or inside.
With a propeller and a certain ratio of wood a craft could float on water.
With balloons, upwards or downwards facing propellers and lighter materials a craft could take flight.
With an end-tier shulker engine, using vanilla shulker boxes in place of pistons, an aircraft can carry heavier weight with a smaller engine and less fuel without the need for balloons or propellers for lift.
A large craft with a more powerful engine, could carry more arms and armour (such as the above catapult battery), letting the players engage in some fantastically fun battles or raids against an enemy base.
A compact stationary multi-block cannon that allows for faster more accurate and further ranged firing of different projectiles to varying effect. Combined with a couple of motors, or placed on a craft, this cannon could be used accurately and devastatingly.
The cannon would be loaded with both propellant and projectile, and fired using a redstone signal. When firing wood the cannon could create an anti-personnel area-of-effect attack without damaging most blocks, or with iron it could have more block destroying capability from a nugget, to ingot, to a full block. With a diamond it could even be used to destroy obsidian from a distance or to penetrate thick walls.
Thanks for reading, I hope you found some of my ideas interesting!
