I've been messing around in creative, building builds and what not.
Recently I swam around in minecraft and I saw the Coral blocks and thought they could be very cool to be able to use in builds.
However, as most of us know already, they lose the color within 3 seconds of not being in water.
Is there any way someone can make a Datapack (not a mod) to disable Coral blocks being able to die?
(Or do any of you know of an easy way to make them not die other than water?)
It's really unfortunate that they die and turn gray.. they could really spice up a lot of different builds.
I'd love to use them as a roof block.
I think that that is a good idea for a small datapack, especially since coral are such pretty blocks that we never really get to work with. I disagree with datnekoboi, it is possible to implement, but not something that I am capable of doing. However, you can get almost exactly what you're looking for with this mod: https://www.planetminecraft.com/mod/coral-block-reviving/
Changing the textures themselves as poncrasher suggested would be a simple fix, but you should try this one instead and see if it suits what you're looking for.
It's not a mod, however, & This is for creative. All this does it makes a crafting recipe not keeping it from staying dying. As it says in the description
(Please note that when you place coral, it needs to be touching water or it will die). So, therefore, my point still stands until they are alive on land; Just replacing a texture just makes it the same thing but it doesn't keep it from dying, All it is a texture pack for a few textures.
