I was browsing the internet for hours looking for a mod that would increase the durability of vanilla tools without affecting much else. I was able to find tons of mods that could do this, but they all came with so much extra fluff that they started to lose their focus. Or alternatively, mods only had this feature of increased durability as an add on to the rest of the mods "meat". 'Maybe I don't want that meat, what if I was a vegetarian? /s.'
Short and sweet, my idea was this:
Mod that changes the durability of vanilla tools and armor.
Is also adjustable via a config.
- Someone who downloads the mod may think wood tools should have 1000 durability. Someone else may think wood should only have 20. Etc.
The tools and armor affected by the mod (wood, stone, iron, gold, diamond) / (leather, chain, iron, gold, diamond) would remain at their default values upon initial download of the mod. A read-me would be attached instructing basic usage of the mod or what have you. Eventually, through editing a config file, players could choose the value for a tools durability as mentioned above.
I should mention I use lots of mods, such as ProjectE, IC2, and tons more. I'm not experienced in java coding so I don't really know how compatibility actually works, but making this mod compatible with other common and popular mods would probably be a good idea
All in all, I would be pretty stoked if someone made this mod, so if you're bored and know how to code, have at it. Don't dig down.
Well I have the mod done. Here's a link to it on curseforge. Unfortunately if it were to work with other mods like IC2 it would have to be built custom-made for them, and I'm not really sure how to do that (yet?). On the plus though, it also adds the option to change a few other properties like enchantability in case you would want to do that.
