Deco Items (Mod idea) ((No idea what to call these items...) Not blocks, not weapons, not armor, just flat items like Lapis Lazuli, compas, what not...
Game versions: 1.7.10 - A lot of adventure modpacks are still being made for this version, go figure...
1.12.x - Most modders have migrated to this version, so would be natural to support this one.
1.14.x - Forge not yet fully updated to this version yet, but seems to be the next big version for mods to migrate to.
Possible uses: Can be used for decorations or adventure mode.
How to obtain: Put 1-64 poisonous potatoes into either 2x2 or 3x3 grid (shapeless)
This will transform the poisonous potato into Deco_Item_01 (Localization file can change the name of the item to what ever is needed)
And the item can use what ever texture the player designates as long as it follows the 4x4 8x8 16x16, 32x32 64x64 etc...
How to cycle items: Putting the Deco items into the top left 2x2 grid cycles back down in the items and eventually back into Poisonous Potato.
Putting the Deco item into the top right 2x2 grid cycles forward in the items.
Easy for use by the common people: Mod works out of a folder. In the folder the player/modpack maker puts the images to be converted into an item, images follow a simple 01, 02, 03 etc number system.
example 01.png, 02.png, 03.png ... 55.png To a max of 99 images from 01 to 99
Item names: In the same folder, a file could exists which is used to tell the name of each item, so it would know, for example, that item 37.png is "Harry's Wand" and item 11.png could be "Notche's Left Eyeball" or something.
Simple to mod and add/remove items from - great for the 1000s of adventure modpacks out there that require a "Key" to progress.
So instead of not only renaming items and changing their looks using resource packs, they should just use this mod, and it would make life easier.
No longer will items need to be changed in any way, This pack got it covered.
No idea how well this idea will translate into something to be able to be made, but hopefully should be easy enough.
The items have no use other then to look nice.
Source of inspiration: Got the idea after playing through Quake 1: Arcane Dimensions mod - I wanted to add the runes/sigls from the game into Minecraft and do some redstone wizardry with some comparater and such. But I could not find a mod or the items to do what I'd want, so left to ask for a modder to make a mod that makes items.
