Basically when you die time will pass by a ton, all items will lose durability, food will turn into rotten flesh, crops will die, grass trees and flowers will overgrow into buildings, farm animals will die, items will despawn (I recommend players get a gravestone or death chest mod). It will be like you are a distant relative to your last life and you will continue your last life's legacy, and it will be an absolutely brutal penalty for death.
Also it would be cool if the amount of generations that pass is random. It can be just one generation where building decay, tool durability loss, and overgrowth wouldn't be as severe, or like up to 100 generations where your buildings can start sinking and turning into underground dungeons.
Maybe the total amount of generations it took to beat the ender dragon can be displayed after the credits!
