So for those of us who mod, generally we don't play with other people with our mods. Unless you belong to the few that have friends who can join your custom servers. But players like me lack such friends. Well, I have friends but they don't play minecraft on pc. So yeah, minecraft will get lonely at some point. Maybe we found a wolf and tamed it. It travels with us and fights mobs. But for me, that isn't enough.
My request/idea here, is a mod which adds human npc's that you can find out on your travels. They are pretty much like you in the aspect of trying to survive. So here are the features.
+You will find a few random npc types that will either trade with you or will join you as companions and help you fight. Emeralds can be used, just like villagers. They will not provide emeralds though. You can only trade for their wares or for their company. Each npc type will require more emeralds to hire than the last.
-The Camper. They will trade food, flint, and torches. Cannot be hired but will fight mobs with a wooden sword. (Modder discretion as well)
-The Hunter. They will trade mob drops such as string, rotten flesh, bones, gunpowder. Can be hired to fight along side you. They will wear leather armor and will use a bow. Requires 10 emeralds to hire.
-The Adventurer. They will trade ores and tools ranging from coal, iron, lapis, axes, swords. Can be hired to fight along side you. They will also wear leather armor and will use a stone sword. Requires 15 emeralds to hire.
-The Mercenary. They cannot trade but can be hired. They wear iron armor and use an iron sword. Requires 25 emeralds to hire.
-The knight. They cannot trade but can be hired. They wear diamond armor and use a diamond sword. Requires 35 emeralds to hire.
+Once you hire someone, they will stay with you until they die. You can have as many followers as you want. Upon death, they will drop half of the emeralds you used to hire them. You can also right click them to stay put like wolves or cats.
+You will be able to open a menu which will display the followers you have hired. As well as how much HP they have. You can name them as well from this menu. To heal a follower just right click them with food. Of course, each food type will restore a certain amount of hp. For the modders, I was also thinking that maybe the followers can get "Stronger" as they kill more mobs. Basically just more hp per specific amount of kills.
So that's about it for my idea. Now I know Popular mmo's did a mod showcase for Epic Companions, but I feel that this is a different flavor.Not to mention that there isn't a file for 1.12.2 yet. Honestly I just found out about epic companions after I posted this. But as for this one,I have no clue what this mod would depend on, I have only been a consumer of mods. Never a developer. I only know that it should use forge? I haven't found anything like this before in regards to existing mods so I wanted to put it out there because this seems like a good idea in my book. Couldn't hurt to have these kinds of npc's running around. I mean, imagine fighting mobs at night only to find a hunter going through the same ordeal. You take advantage of the additional beating heart and you both fight mobs until morning. Then you hire them once the carnage is over! What do you guys think?
