Hey, are you still taking requests? If so, is it possible you could create a utility mod to help players create mob farms more easily in survival? If not, may you please refer me to any other modders you know who would like to create this? I’ll repost my initial post on this thread. It should be fairly simple to make:
I think someone should make a client side mod that shows the mob spawning sphere and light levels showing if mobs can spawn or cannot. It should be able to be used in survival or creative. I ask for this because I want to be able to build farms and light up caves without over lighting or under lighting in SMP without asking the server owner to install a datapack (Refer to logicalgeekboys datapack for what I want).
It doesn’t need to be overly complex. Just make it simple enough to use and be able to be easily toggled on and off, maybe making use of f4 or one of those keys. This is all just a suggestion since I really want something like this but don’t have the means to create. If interested, please spread the idea around and contact me if there is any mod that already exists with same functionality.
I think this should be fairly easy to do as all I want is something like this:
Except instead of using commands to display the armor stands sphere radius, I want to be able to toggle the display of sphere on and off in the game menu where I can enter coordinates of where I’m standing to be the center point. Then, I want to be able to keybind a key that allows me toggle visibility of the sphere. Also, the block does not need to be an armor stand, but can be any block as long as it is able to be seen through other blocks (Spectral?).
In the menu, you will also be able to turn on a mob spawning indicator which shows whether a block can or cannot spawn a mob. There should be an indicator such as grid lines of one color that displays whether or mobs can spawn. This should be very easy to make as all you need to do is detect if the light level is 7 or below which can spawn mobs and if the light level is 8 and above which cannot spawn hostile mobs (except blazes of course). There should be a different indication (different grid pattern on the block face that is visible to the player) of maybe a different color which only appears in nether fortresses of spawning which is combined with the standard grid pattern for every other hostile mob.
I only care about light level because it should be fairly obvious to see if there is enough space for a mob to spawn. If someone does not know, they can just search it up.
For artistic inspiration, you can press f3+g and look at the lines on the chunk border. I want a similar version of those lines in a grid like pattern to be on the visible faces of the block.
lastly, you can add whatever else you want that would be helpful for farms. You can look at gnembon’s carpet mod for inspiration, as I like his use of carpets to detect the chances of mob spawning.
Of course, all of this has to be able to be implemented in survival AND creative and it has to be client side so it can be run on servers without any hassle.
Slightly mundane mod idea but If you are still taking request I could really use a respawn with items mod to finish off an I Am Legened inspired zombie survival mod pack I have been putting together.
Mod that allows you to give the player items from a loot table when they respawn or join the server.
With a way to define different loot tables to use if spawning from a bed or not.
I have been looking for a mod that could do this for a while but the only mods that do this sort of thing only give the player items once when you join the server. where as I need to give the player items every time they die and respawn as they need some modded weapons and ammo to get them started.
Ideally in 1.12.2 if you are interested.
Very cool of you to offer your time up to do this sort of stuff, and If you make the mod I would really appreciate it.
Can you please remake the Potions Mod from Beta 1.9 prerelease 3, where you brew potions by clicking (or throwing) ingredients in a cauldron with water. The color changes as well as the effects of the fluid. You can mix up to a maximum number of ingredients, you can even use the same ingredient several times to create a lot of different potions. It was so complex that there were more than a million possibilities to create potions.
It would be very cool to see that brewing system in 1.15 or 1.16.
