My name is Argixx I am an oldschool minecraft modder from the days back before forge even existed =P. Straight modloader and MCP and prior days. I recently jumped back into the community and it's pretty insane how far FML has come and just the forge guys in general. Recently I have been more into game development and assisting in the development of Tiled a 2d AOI map editor. I had an idea to create an SDK of sorts integrating external javascript parsing into the MC engine as well as making a transition of Items into files service side. IE: StonePickaxe.ITEM which would encompass data required for minecraft to know we are making a stonepickaxe. This mod idea of mine I would also build a external software GUI which would be capable of making items and blocks then exporting the files into a format I create. Think of it as gamemaker / unity / ue4 for minecraft. I wanted to reach out to the community and check to see if I poured time into this devkit (MineMaker 3000 --- meme of a name lol good joke) would the community appreciate / use it? Let me know and I will start development and have our first rendition up in a weeks time =) ciao
there's already a forge mod called jscraft that provides said javascript API, maybe check it out before starting on your own API
Also, what would be advantages of using your API?
Most mods for recent MC versions (1.10.2/1.11/1.11.2) are written for Minecraft Forge, so I highly doubt anyone would use it if it's not compatible with Forge.
It will most definitely be compatible with Forge. The idea is for somebody who doesn't know how to code in java very well but would like to make a few items and armors and stuff for fun able to do that. With the JS library though a person who is versed in coding would be able to still have full access to everything. Another bonus is you wouldn't need to export of build any mod jar or so on so forth because it will all be stored in IE .item file which the game will just find and read.
