Looking to hire a confident programmer who has experience with modding for minecraft/forge
At the moment, HD skins are done via resource packs and don't allow people to customize their skins to enjoy online
My solution is a mod for server owners such as myself who wants to support HD skins.
The current methods fail on one end or another, one popular mod is Ryuu's HD skin mod, but it has some shortcomings that make it unusable
(relying on 3rd party services that are never online, broken config, & bloatware)
The goal of this mod is to allow server and mod owners host a repository of their own, with no need for 3rd party hosting services with an easy to understand config
in-game authentification can be optional for custom uploads (would require php skills, but not required)
At the core, the mod simply looks up a defined server address for a users skin, if the texture is not found, keep using the one supplied from Mojang, else cache it. on joining new server/session, the cache is created/cleared to remove any ghosting issues - allowing a disconnect/reconnect to refresh.
Optional - upload using an in-game command with permissions would generate a URL link with a key. The key would link to a configured php script so users can upload skins without spoofing as other users
Generated key would be XOR (or similar) using configured string/password on the server config and php upload script to decode.
