Basically, I'd like to be able to enable only the commands I want usable similar to how servers only allow players to access certain commands but in SSP. I often have my kids join me via open to lan and I would like the ability to have some control over the commands allowed rather than all or none.
For example, I would like the /tp command enabled so JourneyMap and similar mods work but I don't want full creative commands. I would also like this to be able to handle mod commands. I think whitelisting is the way to go because that way any new commands are unavailable by default.
How come? It would be super easy to setup a small server just for you and your family on local. That way you could just play on the server alone instead of single-player and then they can easily join you.
I don't want to run a server. It's that simple. It is extra hassle that I don't want or need, regardless of how simple it may be. I want to be able to whitelist commands in SSP without running a server so I can just use open to Lan. Hence this request for a modder to figure out if it is even possible to do this and maybe create the mod. I am fairly certain lots of other players would be interested in this because they don't think running a server is so "simple".
It is a nice idea but if someone does pickup this idea, which is quite rare for this forum, then I'd guess it would be more than a couple of months before it actually was in a working state, depending on the experience of the modder.
Setting up a server would take 30 minutes of your time and then could be run with one click (as many clicks as opening to lan). In your situation this is only way I can see it happening, but I guess it is up to you if you wish to wait for that long.
It was too easy to reaslize (but i think i will not support it)
If you want the source tho you can ask me again
Thank you for that. I'll check it out. I would like the source so I can try to learn from it. I am just beginning to learn how to script/code for Unity in my classes and any examples can be helpful.
However, just yesterday I found a mod called My Commands. This mod not only allows commands for the weather and such if you choose to configure them, but also adds server style commands like /back and /home stuff. I didn't initially know if it would work in SSP, so I asked and then tested it after they responded. Obviously there are still some commands in this mod that I will leave off, but it has turned out to be very useful. Also, while it does allow commands like /warp if you configure them, it does not allow /tp in any form. I think I'll see about using your file to allow it, though I'd like some way to only allow the version that specifies a player like the /tpa command on some servers.
