I was thinking of a concept for my first public mod and I was just wondering what you guys think about this, and yes I know there are quite a few alchemy mods, but this ones going to be different.
Focus: Alchemy and Alkahestry
A harder, but rewarding, alchemy approach, with four branches.
~~Requires a transmutation circle, can be drawn on the go using chalk
~~Basic transmutations; Dirt into sand, cobble into stone, etc.
~~Combination transmutations; Broken iron tools + iron nugget = repaired iron tools.
~~~~~Sub-branch: Enchant items using alchemy (probably implementing in later versions, not exactly high on my to-do list)
~~Advanced transmutations; coal to diamonds (going to make an easy/hard system where you can change the difficulty in a config)
~~Requires an Alkahestry satchel, which will carry your supplies
~~Can be used as an alternative to potions
~~Basically dark magic.
~~Life/death focus on the magic side, where you will be using alchemy to hurt mobs and revive the dead
~~Philosopher's stone, using some end game materials
~~Unstable reactions, like coal into gold, which will despawn and blow up after 10 seconds, or dirt into iron, which will basically melt after a few seconds
~~Combine Alchemy and Alkehestry to create low-tech machines
~~Use Alkahestry to dissolve items into liquid matter, and then use alchemic apparatuses to refine it back into other solid matter (think ic2 UU, but more complex)
~~Use the reactivity of the liquid matter to power the machines
~~Workbench of the Elements; Extract base elements from items and trap them in glass bottles.
~~Alchemic Infuser; Infuse items (mostly cloth and metals) with elements to create stuff like Pyrocloth, Terrametal, etc.
~~Alkahest Recombiner (name definitely going to change); Recombine liquid matter with base items into more complex items, more complex items require more matter
~~Alchemic Alembic; Put items in and it will dissolve them into liquid matter based on their M(atter) V(alue), only covering vanilla items, but I will add support for the more common mods, plus the ability to edit the MV in the config in a later version
~~Matter Generator; Doesn't generate matter, but will burn it to create RF

~~Alchemic Alembic, 2 glass on top and bottom, for an alembic shaft, 6 glass in a hollow vertical D shape for Alembic beaker, 3 iron in an upside down bucket shape to make alembic stand, combine shapelessly to get an alembic
~~4xAlchemic Chalk, clay bock + 4 bonemeal
~~Alchemic circle, four chalk dust crafted in a diamond shape, then right clicked to bring up gui
~~Alchemic symbol, 4 iron in a diamond with a chalk dust in the center
~~Workbench of the elements, 1 crafting table with a diamond, blaze rod, snow block, surounding the sides and bottom, and an alchemic symbol on the top
~~Alkahestry Satchel, 1 aetherwool and a firecloth in the on either side, with an alkahestry symbol in the center making a slab shape, with 3 aether thread in an upside down bowl shape on the top
~~Alkahestry Chalk, alchemic chalk with a netherwart, golden carrot, golden apple, and ghast tear in a diamond for 1 alkahest chalk
~~Alkahestry Circle, craft 8 alkahestry chalk in a square, right click to bring up gui
~~Alkahestry Symbol, 4 gold in a diamond with an alkahestry chalk in the center
~~Alkahestry Needles, 1 alkahestry chalk and 2 iron ingots makes 32 needles, each one can be crafted with different potion items in an alkahestry circle to create different throwable and injectable needles. for example, 1 needle plus 1 magma cream gives you a single use fire resistance needle.
Dark Magic Branch:
Universal Solvent (Alkahest): 1 Nether Star, surrounded by 4 alkahestry chalk dust, and 4 ender eyes in the corner
~~Will dissolve anything, as long as you're above y-level 1, so you dont dissolve the earth and fall through into the void. Use by right click
Philosophers Stone (Alchemy): 1 Diamond Block, surrounded by 4 Alchemic Chalk Dust, and 1 gold, emerald, iron, and obsidian in the corners
~~Will basically function like a nerfed EE3 philosophers stone.
~~~3 dirt = 1 sand
~~~3 sand = 1 coal
~~~3 coal = 1 iron nugget
~~~3 Iron Ingot = 1 gold Nugget
~~~3 Gold ingot = 1 diamond shard
~~~~All unstable items will have forge oredict support, so they can be used like vanilla recipes, but have to be used quickly
~~1 dirt - 1 unstable coal (disappears in 30 seconds)
~~8 dirt - 1 unstable Iron (disappears in 45 seconds)
~~1 coal block - 1 unstable gold (explodes in 30 seconds)
~~8 iron blocks- 1 unstable diamond (explodes in 45 seconds)
To Be Added:
Necromancy (added if thermal expansion is installed)
~~Book of Mortals: 1 book in the center, 1 sugar, 1 golden carrot, and 1 egg on the left, 1 ghast tear, 1 wither skull, and 1 nether wart, on the right,1 alchemic dust on top, and 1 alkahest dust on the bottom
~~Life Core: nether star in center, 4 iron ingots in the corners, 1 alkahest dust on the bottom, top and sides are soul sand.
~~Dark Dust: 1 redstone dust, surrounded by 4 alchemic dust in the corners, and 4 alkahestry dust in the sides and top/bottom
In-world, place a life core on top of an emerald block, with a lever on either side of the life core, power the life core with 10,000 RF, and place a skull/zombie head on the top, and then right click the life core with the book of mortals to create a Homunculus. Note: It will attack you, so trap it and wear armor. After creating you have to tame it with Dark Dust. After taming you can equip it with armor and weapons
~~Alchemic Infuser, one furnace and one crafting table on the left and right, brewing stand in center, 4 obsidian in each corner, and 2 diamonds in the top and bottom
~~Alkahest Recombiner, Two furnace on left and right, bucket in the center, 2 alkahest chalk on top and bottom, 2 diamonds on left corners, and 2 emeralds on right corners
if thermal expansion is installed:
~~Matter Generator, furnace in the center, bucket on either side, with a redstone on the bottom, ender eye on top, and 4 end stone in the corners.
~~Gloves of the earthmover, (same as firecloth gloves, but replace the flint and steel for two terrametal ingots) Can be used to create 3x5 walls out of dirt, sand, sandstone, or stone from wherever you're pointing at. (material dependant on where you're pointing, doesnt use anything from your inventory)
~~Terrametal pick, unbreaking V, haste III, Fortune II
~~Firecloth gloves (6 wool in a D shape, with a flint in the middle for the left glove. 6 wool in a backwards D with an iron ingot in the middle for the right glove, combine together to get a usable item) Infinite use flint/steel, can spread existing fire in a straight line 5 blocks forward from you, or can send a weak fireball hurtling by shift right clicking
~~Aether thread boots, (4 aether thread = 1 aether wool, 4 aether wool to make the boots) feather falling X, Jump boost III, Sprint Boost II
~~King's Chalice, Infinite water source, and can suck up existing water.
Will get pictures up for the recipes eventually, once I can decide on sprites that I like
That's all I have for now, but some feedback and possibly ideas would be greatly appreciated, and if there's enough interest I'll get to work developing it.
