A Personal Message: ted80, if you ever return to the forums and read this, I would ask that you add this to Old World Generation.
Hello.
I have been playing Minecraft since January 2013, and since then, my friends and have I have used several worlds, but we hold one particular world seed deep in our hearts.
However, the seed we love is a 1.6.4 seed. In 1.7.10, the seed generates a world that is tolerable, but not beloved. This conflict has sparked two version wars, as I like to call them, between 1.6.4 and 1.7.10. As much as we love 1.7.10's updated mods, multiple resource pack support, and new blocks and items, the lack of our favorite world is constantly dragging our modpack, Telkit, back to 1.6.4. I would like to be able to leave Telkit at 1.7.10 and keep our 1.6.4 seed.
I have tried to do this in Java myself, but I'm a novice and don't really understand how to do it. I know it's possible, as I've used Ted80's Old World Gen before, but that mod lacks the 1.2.1 to 1.6.4 generator, and it's not being actively updated either. If someone could port the 1.6.4 generator to 1.7.10, quite a few people would be satisfied.
Also, please don't tell me to just generate a large portion of the world. I've heard this countless times, but my friends and I venture way too far out in the world to simply do that. hii488's posts were made before I made this edit, so he gets a pass on saying that.
That being said, if you aren't willing to allow players to put this in modpacks, please don't do this.
I have decided to return to this to try and get someone to pick this up. I would've done what hi488 said to do with generating the world, however, that world size would be much too large, and I don't want to deal with mods crashing across the 1.6-1.7 barrier, which is notorious for breaking mods. I also have to generate chunks with modded ores that aren't present in the older version.
I tried to drag the world gen files around, and I tried to take Ted80's mod and replacing beta 1.7.3's code with 1.6.4's. I am terrible at doing anything more than basic blocks and items, so I can't attempt to do this on my own.
tl;dr: I would really like this to be done, please.

That being said, if 1.18 is supposed to bring in world smoothing, I might be able to live with that. I'm not opposed to new terrain, I just hate chunk borders. I'd still prefer an implementation of this, but I highly doubt it is going to happen.
In all seriousness, Mojang needs to do this in the base game. I see no reason why they couldn't just implement a Classic world option where you could choose an older world terrain generator style. Oh well, it is what it is.

Hey I replied to your reddit post aswell. Hoping we get more attention and foot traffic to this idea. Been reading all online with people feeling the same way with the newer terrain generation being meh. 1.18 caves are dope but we need an option to switch between world generations. Maybe someone can make a mod that is a bundle of different types of world generations based of various versions of the game? Its honestly making me want to add a java class to my college courses to start modding and bringing the nostalgic aspects of Minecraft back from the past. I am always also willing to fund mod projects as I have done in the past.

Yes, I'd like a Forge mod. If you mod vanilla directly, try to make it to where it doesn't kill Forge.
Thank you!

hii488 decided not to do this. I shall try the class file moving around, but if someone who actually knows what to do wants to do this, feel free.

Didi you ever get a mod for this? I really want that old generation
Sorry for reviving this old thread
I hate life :_)
Sadly, no. I posted an update to this on the Modded Minecraft subreddit, again, no response.
