About a week ago I was poking around the minecraft forums looking for new mods and similar interesting stuff, and I came across this thread, which presented an absolutely amazing idea for a new minecraft airship/industrial aviation mod. Reading this, I just had to expand on it and try to construct a fully-fledged mod idea from it, and several flashes of inspiration, a lot of writers block, and a few slices of pizza later, I had made this google doc with a list of my ideas so far. If anyone is interested, go ahead and take a look, and post any suggestions you have. And anyone with modding experience who wants to see this made (or can make textures, models, sounds, etc. for the mod) please help! If this gets made, it could just take the modding community by storm. ONWARDS, MODDERS!
P.S. I am not good at modding, but I am trying to learn. That's why I need the help.

Might I suggest this? Someone else was going to use my ideas, but they've disappeared, and wiped all of their threads on the forums. Feel free to incorporate any of my ideas that you like. I'm also interested in how you might work your ideas into my systems. Sadly, I don't have the skill to make it, but I'd like to fancy that I am very good at design and balance.
If you need another developer I am happy to lend a hand. It is defiantly a very big project which you plan to get yourself into, but it could also be very interesting.
Whether I help in the development or not I would be interested to see what this ends up like.

I am a programmer, so if you want good ui's or textures get someone else to do them.
(Any projects will be hosted on either GitLab or GitHub (depending on the requirements))
(I use IntelliJ Idea because I believe it is better than Eclipse however they are both extremely good IDE's and I can use which ever one)

This sounds like a fascinating idea! I love Cuchaz's ship mod, but he doesn't seem to have airships. I would love to have massive air and sea duels and I think this mod could accomplish the airship part. I could possibly help with textures if that is needed.
Lol, archimedes ships is the most stripped down "Ships mod" there is!
It's just an extended version of the boat (Literally) that renders to look like blocks. Pretty lame :|
I'm just polishing my physics engine at the moment before I release any kind of test build for Valkyrian Warfare, but expect Physics, Pitch/Yaw/Roll rotations, World Collision and Weapons!
Can't wait for the combat update, those gliders are going to be EPIC in airship combat!

Oh, by the way, I think I'll be making a revamp of the google doc, so don't expect the link to work for awhile. I've decided to do a rewrite of my ideas with a somewhat different theme. Don't worry, there will still be Aetherium!
For the record, Ships Mod has all the infrastructure in place to support airships, but there's no airship content yet. Meaning, the mechanics of the mod allow airships, but I haven't made an "airship block" and appropriate propulsion systems yet. I just haven't had much time to work on the mod lately.
In all seriousness, it looks like Valkyrian Warfare is going to be a better mod, and thebest108 clearly has more time to spend on it than I do. So throw all your energy behind that one, especially if you're into combat mods. I'm not super interesting in making combat-related content.

It's a pretty decent effort and the author has begun rebuilding it to make it more like Metaworlds/Ships Mod. Under the hood it's more than it appears on the surface, blocks can't be magically turned into entities and rendered. Please remember that you are laughing at something that a number of people have put a lot of time and effort into.

That's what I'm trying to solve, making a Ships mod thats feature complete in an effort to attract more people to the niche, and I will say that the current state of this concept in Minecraft is quite disappointing. After 4 years of frustrated waiting I've decided to take things into my own hands, excuse me if I'm bitter at the perceived lack of progress in this niche.

Yes, it is frustrating, but that's no excuse to call the efforts of others lame. There's nothing wrong with saying AS+ isn't what it could be, the problem is mocking the effort put in to it. Anyway, best of luck with VW. Quick question though, do you have any plans to make VW open or visible source?

I don't have a huge amount of time for modding these days, so I doubt you're facing any real competition. Good luck with your mod.
Ships Mod is GPL of course, so feel free to borrow anything if it helps you. If you want to use a GPL compatible license, that is.

Eh I don't get why there has to be a competition. I personally like your ship mod, and I think it has amazing potential and only become more interesting as people use it for their own add-on or idea.
