I have been looking for a mod that allows you to select a profession/occupation. I dont want one like jobs that grants you money for an economy server, but one that will allow you to be proficient at a certain task. I thought there was one in the past, but i cant seem to find it. I have always wanted to learn how to create my own mods, but have never taken the time to learn. I know there are a few tools out there that help with creating mods, but I dont think that is why im looking for either. If anyone could help me in figuring out how to make this, I would greatly appreciate it. Below are my ideas
Professions: gamerules that provide extra xp, resources, and possibly better tools (faster, more efficient). This could possibly be done using a clickable sign that grants the user a profession. Upon clicking another sign, you keep your previous profession and all items associated with it. (OR you loose your previous profession and all items, but it would make it more complicated to clear all tools and advances associated with the previous profession...). Possibly implement a profession LEVELING SYSTEM (lvl 1 - lvl 50). XP gained in current profession counts toward profession but goes to the player to use in enchanting.
Blacksmith - possibility to create chain mail armor and other items
Smelter (cook) - items cook faster and you get more items once they are done smelting. Cooking faster might me done creating a special custom item that burns longer and speeds up cooking.
Electrician (redstone)(might pose to be a difficult task, but I would enjoy it since I love using redstone!) - not really sure how to incorporate this :'(
upon crafting a tool to belongs to YOUR PROFESSION, that tool has unbreaking I without the player enchanting it. The more time spent as a in that profession, your tools can have unbreaking II and III as well as efficiency and fortune (that actually works on all items such as wood). XP is multiplied by 1.5 when dealing in your profession.
For those professions where a tool is not required
Blacksmith - less resources to craft an item, or the same amount of resources for double the item (ex. 1 stick and 2 stone for 2 stone swords)
Shepherd - possibly add the above enchantments to shears. More wool drops when shearing sheep. More control over sheep (they will follow you even though you're too far away, possibly using a custom item that attracts them at a greater distance, such as a shepherds cane. Could also work for Cows and Chickens).
Butcher - More drops when killing animals with a sword or axe.
If ANYONE can help me with any of this I would greatly appreciate it. I am still doing some research and trying to figure out how to do this myself, but its going to take some time. Im a dummy when it comes to Java and scripting. Ive only had experience in Action Script, Powershell, CSS, and HTML (Very little in all of these I might add!!!) Thanks ;D
