Hello world! My name is darkAntlord and today I bring you thoughts on a steven universe mod. Now I have many ideas but to start off I will just say the basics.
1. Gem Selection
I was thinking when you start up your world you have a GUI open and it will display 3 option things. 1 The cut of your gem. Now as we know each gem has a different cut. Some being round like pearl or square like ruby but they all have cuts. 2. Color. Now we all know that many things have colors. Just like gems! I was thinking the gem cuts would just be shades of gray. But when you select your color it changes the color of your gem. 3. Gem name. Now pretty much every gem has a name. So you could put in your own gem name. And when you spawn into your world it gives you your gem.
2. Gem weapons
Now most people know gems have weapons. I was thinking the weapons would be like the gem cuts. Gray colored textures. There would be idk how many different weapons and it would choose randomly. Then when you summon your weapon it appears the color of your gem.
3. Warp Pads
These would work like you set up 3 warp pads named butt potato and jimmy. When standing on jimmy you can warp to potato and butt. While on butt you can warp to jimmy and potato. And while on potato you can warp to jimmy and butt. There would also be grand warp pads. Where they only go one place and back. Like the homeworld warp pad.
4. Appearance
So when you die/poof you will be able to respawn but there will be a second option. Change appearance. When you click it you can change your height and stuff.
5. Monsters
I think monsters should take a random color and a random gem cut and a random monster model and mash it together. When you kill it, it will drop the gem called "Unknown Gem" and you right click it in air to change it's name.
6. Bubbling
When you hold an Item and press b it will drop that item in a bubble based on your gem's color and the item inside it. It should be as hard as iron ore to break and when it breaks it drops that item.
And many many more ideas. Sadly I can't code or model but I can make textures for items and blocks.
I would be very interested in making this mod. I am somewhat new to modding, but I will try my hardest to get at least some of these features implemented. The one that may pose a problem is the option to change your appearance under #4. This has been done and is not too hard in and of itself, but simply adding the extra button to the respawn screen may not even be possible. I'll try my best, but if I can't do that, at least I know that I can add everything else. Just a question: Are the new monsters supposed to spawn in addition to normal mobs or in place of them? Steven Universe canon seems to suggest in addition, but it would be just as easy to disable normal mob spawning as well.
Planned implementation schedule:
1. Gem Selection
2. Bubbling (Eventually players will have the ability to teleport bubbles to a specified location, but this will be added at a much later date)
3. Gem Weapons
4. Monsters
5. Warp Pads
6. Appearance (if possible)
A Homeworld dimension may also be added if I can manage it. This would be accessible through a pregenerated dungeon containing a warp pad.
One more thing: I am horrible at making textures, so it would really help if I could send you the block models and have you make them.
The GUI for phase 1 has now been implemented. However, without the names of the gem cuts and colors, the best I can do is to add buttons to it with default names that don't actually do anything. I also can't proceed onto implementing bubbling if I don't have a list of possible colors. Unless you want me to come up with the cuts and colors.
When I was just about to implement the gem cuts, I realized that Minecraft has no way of "colorizing" gray textures. I decided to colorize them myself using the 16 default minecraft colors, which is fairly tedious, but less error-prone than writing a custom graphics handler to do it. Plus, now the gem items can just be metadata items instead of storing NBT data. Anyway, I am 1/4 done with colorizing the cuts and will send you a private message containing the ones done so far.
