Before I get started with the idea I just like to say that this is a very old idea of mine. I recently logged on to Planet Minecraft and saw I posted this about one year ago and still thought it was a good idea and I still would like to see it brought into reality. Since then, I have started to undergo the process of learning different coding languages and Java is definitely on my to-do list, so future coding could potentially be done by myself if it gets to that point. Anyway, I wanted to bring this idea up on a better website for collaboration, so I typed over it, changed some things around and added a bit. I still have more to add but I want to know what other people think before I do that kind of thing. So without further ado...
Intro The other day I was playing just like normal, then I got a wonderful idea! Most people think up mod ideas, and I have a fair share of them as well, but none as well in depth as this one. I know this is like the old contest, but I had to get this idea out to see what people think, and to see if a modder could make it .These are all my ideas that I came up with on the spot, if they exist elsewhere I did not know, and don't mean any harm.
What is It?
I would call it Supercharged redstone, or something like that. The main point of the mod is well... supercharged redstone. It's not just another, smelt redstone to get ingots and make tools somehow stronger than diamond. The point of it is to get the very unique abilities that the tools will provide
The Idea I had was to get redstone, and turn it into redstone blocks, once there would put it into a furnace to get diminished redstone, however, because you are taking the power from the redstone, it needs to go somewhere, like a tank (I know, there are a lot of mods with tanks) and store it in there as liquid redstone that can be used to power other things, like a furnace. Also, it would produce some kind of toxin that will poison or hurt the player. Once they have the diminished redstone, they must put it into an enricher or some kind (still working on the name) that would give supercharged redstone.
The recipes are all the same (I.e. a pickaxe would be made with three of x material, and two of a power stick), but a person would have to put the supercharged redstone on a power stick (working on name) that could support the redstone. To get the "power stick"... I'm not sure, some form of combining the liquid redstone and diamons/obsidian. I haven't came up with a machine that will produce the supercharged redstone, however I would like it to be something other than a furnace did it. A brand new... something... that I'm having a mental block with and would love to take suggestions! . Another thing you can craft is the "redstone superfier" (please come up with a different name, I've got nothing), I will explain that below:
Pickaxe - Normally starts out slow and gets faster and faster, can mine obsidian and be enchanted, with fortune/silk touch, has no durability.
Shovel - Faster than diamonds, works like sheers, no durability
Axe - Faster than diamonds, no durability
Hoe - Yes... I want a hoe, but you'll see why! When it destroys any crop, it produces two times the amount of output you would normally get, like looting or fortune on a hoe! No durability.
Sword - Stronger than diamonds, no durability, and when parrying negates all damage
Armor - Stonger than diamonds, no durability.
When you get the tool, congrats, but it's not just a normal tool, they have abilities unique to each one. However, you can't just use this ability, you have to activate it using the redstone superfier, and first you must have it in you hand, and right click. It will pull up a GUI and you can choose the tool/armor to pair it with, when it's selected, it is paired with it and drained of it's energy depending on what ability you are using. I guess you could use this new machine with the liquid redstone to power it, thats the best I could think of. But each ability you use drains the superfier just a little bit, some a whole lot, and when it's drained you can't use it until you recharge it. You can make more than one and can pair multiple superfiers to many things, or all to one to use it for a long time. I would like it upgrade it's energy capacity, and/or upgrade the armor/tool to use less power, like at the beginning you can hardly hold any power, and the tools take a lot of power, but as you upgrade them, with either the new machine, or surrounding it with redstone on a crafting table to upgrade it, you can use the abilities more.
What you are all waiting for, the abilities, I tried to come up with things that haven't been done before so it's not just a typical ability. (these are when paired with the superfier)
Pickaxe - When paired will always mine at top speed, (super fast) (drains at a rather slow rate)
Shovel - Goes insanely fast, but has to warm up, when you stop mining, stays 'warm' for 10 seconds. When maxed out, goes super fast. (drains it at a constant normal rate)
Axe - Mines a tree and all it's entirety, like the leaves and all, and things still have the rate of drops that they normally would (drains each time tree is mined, rather good chunck, but not a lot)
Sword - Makes user run super fast, can jump extremely far, very strong (drains fast)
Helmet - Basicly invisible, mobs will pay no attention, only when hit (drains fast)
Chestplate - Makes user invincible (drains very fast)
Leggings - Makes user have gliding and no fall damage (at a normal rate)
Boots - Makes user teleport only 30 blocks (drains per teleport, fast)
Different Upgrade Paths
An idea that was brought to my attention was to have the armor, and maybe some of the tools have different upgrade paths to add to the diversity of the mod and to be more situational to make the mod more enjoyable to play with. Now by this, I mean making it possible to charge the redstone in different ways , and by crafting the tools with the different kinds of charge, or by charging it with a different kind of supercharger, the tools/armor will have different effects. Now what would be interesting, is if the redstone supercharger could store different items (like redstone, diamond, emerald) and it would, not only, change the color of the charger, but make it have different effects. Below are some ideas that come to mind:
Upgrade Paths (Still a work in progress)
- Crafting Recipe A: standing on redstone/blocks makes you run faster/jump higher/deal more damage
-Crafting Recipe B : Standing on redstone/blocks makes you stronger/tools more efficient
- Crafting Reciple C: standing on redstone charges items (different tiers will charge faster/in different ways)
- Red path (See above)
- Blue path: AoE damage?
- Green path: Special abilities granted (Ground pound, railing hits, etc.)
- Black path: Acts like a gun/bow
[I know, this section is lacking, but I just wanted to put the idea out there]

Oh I agree that certain things need to be worked on and finalized. But if you're willing to code this then thank you so much!
I kind of like the idea of making it an extension, that would be logical I mean. And I do want the tool/armor abilities to be extremely unique. I agree that there are plenty of tool mods out there, and I don't want this one to just be another plain mod.
