I busted my brains trying to figure out how to make compatibility between Thaumcraft 4.2, Blood Magic, and Balkon's Weapon Mod. I have very specific ideas on how it will work, but my talent is not in coding.
The simplest of my ideas for this mod is to add Thaumium version of all the Balkon's Melee weapons. They would have all the strength and attack of Iron, but be substantially more enchantable. Secondly, and with more complexity, I wanted each of them to have two alternate forms. Blood Infused and Essence Infused. A certain Blood Magic Ritual would make it so the items had infinite durability, but instead drained LP on use just like any of the other Blood Magic items. If instead the thaumium weapons are put in the Thaumcraft Infusion altar, instead of losing durability, they woul drain vis in the same way that the thaumostatic harness does on each use.
Another Idea for the mod was to add in Thaumic and Blood Magic inspired version of the Balkon's Musket, Blunderbuss, and Flintlock.
The Blunderbuss would derive its power from Blood Magic. Similarly to other Blood Magic weapons, it would use LP on each shot instead of ammunition, but unlike its melee counterparts, it has limited durability, and will eventually break. It would deal the exact same damage as the normal Blunderbuss does, except the shots would inflict 3 seconds (or whatever length is more balanced) of wither.
The Musket would draw instead on the power of Thaumcraft. The musket would be rather expensive to make, but would have infinite durability. It would be composed of a special barrel, a crucible infused stock, and a special Infusion altar lense to act as a scope. Even though it would have infinite durability, it would still require ammo. Instead of using Balkon's Musket balls, it would fire thaumium musket balls, which would be made by putting a bag of shot into a crucible filled with ignis, potentia, and praecantatio. The shot bag would probably be made of 5 iron nuggets surrounded on the four corners with string. After the bag was enchanted in the crucible, you would "uncraft" it into 10 thaumium musket balls. The output is of course up for debate, but that's roughly how it would be crafted either way. If you are particularly ambitious, you could code the musket to utilize some of the different Thaumcraft Foci just as wands do to add different effects to the shot. When being fired, the rifle would have a slightly higher zoom than the default balkon's musket.
The Flintlock is relatively useless compared to the blunderbuss and musket in balkon's mod, but after some thought, I have some ideas using BOTH thaumcraft and Blood Magic to better the flintlock. Firstly, similarly to the Blood Blunderbuss... the Blooderbuss... meh... it would derive all amunition from your LP pool. Similarly to the Thaumcraft Musket, it would have infinite durability. It would be HIGHLY enchantable as well.
I have more ideas, but this is the start. I'd really like to work side by side with a modder putting this out.
