Hey guys! I recently found a really old tumblr post from someone I don't even know! It was from 2 years ago. Basically, the person talked about a Lorax mob should be added into the game.
"He spawns whenever you start chopping away at a tree. He’ll stare at/follow you around for a random amount of time, chipping away a total of one heart, before floating up into the sky.".

That sounds awesome. I was actually thinking of doing a mod like this, and had some slightly different ideas. The Lorax could work as-is (with a slight change), and I'm also thinking of adding the other creatures.
Mobs
Lorax:
Attack: .5 hearts a second, only doing 1 heart of damage before giving up and ignoring the player. If the player cuts down enough trees, the Lorax floats away, despawns and leaves behind a chest with a single Truffula tree seed and a sign next to the chest saying, "Unless". This is a reference to the book.
Bar-ba-loot: Spawns in groups of 3-5 in Truffula biomes. Can be bred with Truffula fruit (the one fruit they need to survive). 5 hearts of health.
Swomee-Swans: Fly high in the sky above Minecraftia, spawning at high altitudes in Truffula biomes (possibly taking advantage of the Phantom flying AI). 2 hearts
Hummingfish: Spawn in water in River and Ocean biomes. 3 hearts.
Biomes
Truffula: Like the Forest biome, but with Truffula trees semi-sparsely generated, like the Acacias in Savannahs.
Blocks
Truffula Log: Much like birch, but with flat grey bark with darker grey ridges
Truffula Planks: Same texture as birch, except lighter.
Truffula Leaves: Randomly chosen from the 16 Minecraft colors, except for brown, gray, light gray, black and white. Randomly drops the following: Truffula seed (same chance as a sapling), Truffula fuzz (1.5x as common as apples), and Truffula fruit (same chance as apples).
Items
Truffula Fuzz: Crafted into Thneed tools and armor (Tools have speed of iron but durability of stone, armor has protection and durability of leather)
Truffula Fruit: Breed Bar-ba-loots with these, or eat them for the same food/saturation as an apple and a slight regen boost. Craft it to get seeds.
Truffula Seed: Plants a Truffula Tree sapling when placed. Can be gotten from the tree, crafted from the apple, or gotten by letting the Lorax despawn.
Truffula Sapling: Only gotten by placing a Truffula seed on the ground. Can be placed in a flower pot. Grows into a Truffula Tree in time.
