I'm currently working on a Tron themed texture pack. I have just about everything else done, but I'm looking into how I can change the projectile model of the arrow so that discs will shoot out of the bow. The bow will also be shaped like a disc and will look like the player is throwing discs.
Would anyone be able to render this for me or at least point me in the direction of some software I could use to create the model? So far, all I have seen are tutorials on how to modify the code after the fact.
After some careful research, it looks like one of two things are going to have to happen to get this off the ground. Either 1) I 'll have to write a custom renderer to handle the output from Techne in order to be able to insert the code or 2) write a parser to parse an .obj file into OpenGL for Java in order to be able to simply insert the code into the area where the Arrow is currently being rendered. It appears as though the arrow is rendered on the fly using OpenGL calculations.
I have no problem modeling an object in either Blender or in Techne. It's a very simple design, but the learning curve for me to write a parser in java seems steep. I haven't found a good resource on how writing a parser, how a parser works, etc. I have some background in C++ and Visual Basic, so the idea of arrays and such aren't new to me, but still - all this for a simple arrow?
If I were able to supply the model and texture, would someone be willing to parse this for me? I would even be willing to entertain the idea of compensating the individual in some way.
I'm also working on a tron-themed texture/resource pack.
But what I came here for is to say that I think it would be better if the bow was turned into a disc, not the arrows. None-the-less, I think this seems like a cool idea and you love to see it completed! Best of luck to you!
