Oh yeah,i got optifine already but i think optifine is like forge (downloader and got their own version) so we can't do optifine and other mods at the same time huh? (THAT's CRAP!)
I think that you can put it in the forge "mods" folder.
Not sure how much different Rei's Minimap mod is to Zan's Minimap mod, but I've always used Zan's. He had just updated the mod yesterday. For the most part it's updated within 3-5 days after patches or reported compatibility errors. Worth checking out until Rei's update.
Drop both .jar files into your .minecraft/mods folder (or your .minecraft/mods/(insert version # here) folder, which makes running multiple modded versions easier)
Too Many Items is also updated to 1.6.4, but there isn't a Forge version yet, so you could try to manually install it and the other mods, but they might not work together.
As for using 1.6.2 mods with 1.6.4, most won't work, but a few will. One mod for 1.6.2 that I know does work with 1.6.4 is Inventory Tweaks
Did You Try It Already? Cause I'm Too Afraid For Anything Not Usual Happened (like i last time lost all my launcher profile)
Well Optifine.com still forsn't have a normal zip file, the only download is the jar file that can only be opened using java and it is a version installer

I didn't try the manual installation of TooManyItems, but it does have a Forge version now for 1.6.4. The others work fine together, since the only mod you should be installing to your jar file is Forge. Forge should take care of any conflicts between the mods in the mods folder.
Why is tmi even being mentioned anymore.. People are still actually using it over nei in this day and age?
Anyway, people, seriously: try them out before yelling at the developers to update. Just drop the 162 version in the mods folder, and launch your 164 version of mc. If it works, congrats. If it crashes, oh well - you need to wait for an update (remove it from your mods folder and twiddle your thumbs until it comes out).
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
+ Morph + InvTweaks + Forestry + Extra Bees + Thaumcraft + Buildcraft + EE3 + XyCraft! + NEI + about 100 other things :]
Not totally true. OptiFine does have a 1.6.4 version, but that's only a preview. It won't officially be updated until the recommended version of Forge is newer than #897
Just a sugestion to you mod makers, how about the Call of duty TM Graphics/zombies mod?
Um, Well I Would like it,but the Mods That i was looking for is too make vanilla minecraft easier to use,Example:WorldEdit Makes You Build map faster! and TMI Allows you to Get Items Fast without going to Creative Mode.
are those mods (bettersprint, optifine, armorstatus, rei's minimap) uses forge? Cause i don't really like forge's lag.
Dude,i forgot to upload my profile picture!
if you are on mac here is a video how to install optifine+any other mod without modloader forge etc.(it says for minecraft 1.6.2 but also works with 1.6.4, just download optifine 1.6.4 not 1.6.2 obviously)

if you want a .zip file just change the .jar file to .zip by erasing the .jar and rewritting .zip then double click it and it will open a folder

It is not really a forge. Just click on it and it says install. Click that then you got it. I don't know if that will happen since mine is a mac.
I'm just asking, why do you need better sprinting?
well,as you see, mojang doesn't make a minecraft sprint button, but we have to double tap,THAT DOUBLE TAP IS THE ONE I HATE,sometimes we ever sprint then walk then sprint then walk, that fails me a lot!

Yes, you can. Just put the OptiFine jar file into your mods folder. You need to have Forge #897 or newer though

I used portal gun, gravity gun etc... all those iChun's mods are 1.6.2 and they work for me, not sure about other mods though
For 1.6.4, if you have Forge #897 or newer (current recommended is #916), just drop OptiFine into the mods folder.
For installing just OptiFine, the installer should the same as on Windows, since it's a .jar file, not an .exe file
How about using the Mincraft Forums mod list instead of giving that crappy site hits? They post tons of mods without permission from the authors...
