As much as I don't want to say it, lately I've kinda gotten into the power rangers kinda idea lately, and I thought, this would be pretty amazing as a minecraft mod. So, here I go.
Firstly, this should be a compatability mod for thaumcraft, and industrialcraft along with a vanilla version. (Magic rangers, tech based rangers and just Rangers)
Becoming a Ranger
Naturally power rangers have civilian Mode and Power ranger mode. Civilian mode you have a morpher, which can be created through a certain recipe. I'm thinking something like Diamond on the bottom middle, iron surrounding it like a helmet, then depending on the ranger, redstone on top of this with gold bars in the corners for vanilla ranger, with a circuit on top middle then 2 corners being Batteries for IC2 rangers or finally Nitor in middle and Vis Crystals for thaumic rangers to get a morpher, then you simply have to dye the morpher to get the color of power ranger you want. (thats right, custom colored rangers)
Vanilla morphers are crafted with certain items of decent power (pearls, blazerods, glowstone dust or redstone dusts) to break them down and get a duration of energy for vanilla morphers, Rightclicked on warded jars to absorb essentia in place of Vis or placed in the arcane crafting table with a wand to charge directly from a wands absorbed Vis for Thaumics, or charged in an MFE or better for Industrial Morphers. (possibly rangers in IC2 will have colored nanosuits, vanilla will be standard show based power ranger textures, and thaumic rangers will be in like Battle robes or colored thaumium textures).
The Morpher
Upon being charged with enough energy to initiate a morph and first rightclicked the morpher begins enchanted glowing and is linked to Armor that is in your inventory by simply wearing it when used, in other words, the ranger suit that you receive takes on the powers of the armor that you are currently wearing (just overlayed with an overriding texture showing you as a power ranger), but it's considerably more protective and doesn't break while in ranger form (but uses energy and when that energy busts you get demorphed and take some solid debuffs for a fair duration).
So in theory you could have a diamond suit along with a pair of speedy boots from legend gear say, and so your power ranger suit's boots despite being another armor set will inherit the abilities of the speed boots and you'll have the defense (and a bit more) worth of diamond.
Thats not all, but it also contains the current hotbar and turns it into the weapon set that the power ranger can use, the durability of these items are also frozen and can be used infinitely while morphed (but disappear and turn back into the hotbar you had before morphing when you morphback. Hotbar is also locked to avoid extra fiddlyness and to stop you switching out your gear. Not only will this allow you to contain your best gear for endless use in one of those dire situations, it would probably open a nice setting for adventure maps with different rangers having different gear by default.
After the gear is locked in it is saved inside the morph and is removed from you and becomes your morpher gear. To dispense the gear that has become your ranger outfit and weapons just shift rightclick.
As a Ranger
The Gear that becomes the ranger is now inside the morpher, and to access it you just have to morph by holding right click with the morpher for a few seconds. This then causes special special effects (cause where would power rangers be without special effects?) and you're transformed ready to kick ass with the gear contained in the morpher (stuff in the hotbar and armor is stored somehow while morphed items replace it).
As a Ranger you hence have all the effects of enchantments previously on the armors you linked in your morpher and unlimited uses of gear that was on the hotbar which was also contained. This Gear shouldn't be able to contain blocks or things that are placed (so no lava bucket rangers, sorry Zisteau fans including myself) it's only for items that have practical uses. Potions and ammo however will not be unlimited but are replenished each time the morpher is reused.
The morpher then gradually uses energy but also uses a small spike of energy (and produces sparks like rangers should) dependant to any damage you take (note that although the rangers are well armored, a little damage can still get through like any other armor, so you can still be completely nuked out as a ranger, it's just a little hard cause of all the armor)
The Rangers will have finishers which are executed by holding the engaged morpher and holding rightclick. Shift hold rightclick demorphs you the safe way. When deploying the finisher depending on the ranger you'll get a different finishing weapon which can be used in true power ranger fashion to finish an enemy off in the most epic way possible (which should be chooseable cause these are a few straight off my head.). All explosions within the finishers do not destroy blocks unless specifically said.
Vanilla finishers: Chunk Buster: A large ornate bow weapon that is charged with rightclick then released when then arrow is charged. Fires a ghast sized fireball trailed by a thick helping of ender and flame particles. On impact with an enemy or block it causes an overrated circular explosion which spreads fire and sends all enemies skyward. Deals 30 damage and if thats not enough, the fall damage should hurt a lot. Rightclicking again after it was used disperses it and your hotbar returns.
Notch Sabre: The Weapons combine into a Diamond sword surrounded in a golden glow. While holding this sword you have super speed which will allow you to zip around and slash any 5 enemies with it. (it has 5 durability). Each hit causes an ample bunch of sparks and an explosion dealing 6-8 damage. After the 5th strike the sword becomes another version which is throw. Throw it at something and it gets stabbed as the sword gathers energy and blows up brightly for a further 15 (and is sent back to minecraft notch in heaven) returning all your gear to you allowing you to pose to the explosion.
IC2 Finishers: Quantum Punch: When summoned it becomes an energy glove which is constantly spouting energy. All you gotta do is run at an enemy and punch it. This causes a side on radiating explosion with other effects and sends the enemy flying away at the power of knockback 20. (1 durability). Hits like a truck (40) and the radiating explosion hits for 10 to anything with a creepers blast radius. On hit the Quantum Fist powers down and you rightclick to get your gear back.
Hyper Railgun: A more weaponized looking mining laser becomes your weapon. Charge by holding rightclick to gather energy and on max charge it opens a zoomed in scope with energy readings and stuff for effect. Pick your target and release. It fires a giant laser down the middle of the crosshair which is fairly fast and zooms you out a few seconds later. On hit of an enemy it causes an electrical explosion and an enormous radial shot of smaller lasers like it hit a prism or something. These small lasers travel as far as a mining laser then explode into more effects to deal more damage. The main laser hits for 40, the radial blast lasers pass through stuff dealing 10 to radial enemies, with their max range explosions just being similar to creeper blasts in damage and power. The railgun then should have an effect of steam coming out of it as it cools down for added awesome. Rightclick to undeploy to your gear.
Thaumic Finishers: Black End Galaxy: Instead of consuming your gear temporarily this just spawns a pulsating black energy ball a little above the player. All you gotta do is jump up and punch it at something. Upon being punched it becomes like a ghast fireball trailed by a large helping of enchanting symbols and enderparticles. On hit it encases a rather large sphere of area in a black (hollow) blob of blocks which use just the portable hole wall texture. After a time delay all these blocks become white and it implodes grandly dealing damage to everything that was inside the "blackhole". would be variable damage, but basically everyblock inside the sphere becomes a creeper explosion in damage.
Grand Arcana: The player gets a large Scepter with a rainbow end of all the colors of the vis crystals. When uses it causes a giant stream of lightning crackles of different colors to be fired from it in quick succession that the player can direct around. Enemies hit by these lightnings are randomly slowed, set on fire, thrown into the air or withered while taking bits of damage. Ending this blast of omni-elemental energy the staff can then be casted once more to summon a large arcane meteor onto the point ending in yet another giant explosion setting fire to the general area and probably killing everything. The bolts deal 5 each and can be sprayed around, the meteor is just a big old explosion accompanied by fire dealing considerably more damage to end it.
In the end this would be kinda OP without some stronger mobs to fight. I'd like to make megazord possibilities but for now that'll do since this is just an idea anyway and don't want to get ahead of it. But theres the morpher, what it does and the "finishers". Since the power rangers inherit abilities from your hotbar gear and currently equipped armor. (quantum ranger for god ranger! :D)
thanks and if you like and want to make this idea, please do.
Wow nice you watch the power rangers My 3 year old brother does too! Any way I had to say that. The mod looks cool but can I ask a question? When you use the morphor (Is that the cell phone thing that they slash?) do you want it to put power ranger armor on them or change the skin?

Yes I watch them :P.
I'm thinking vanilla morphers are like mighty morphin, IC morphers are the wrist operated ones from either In Space or Time force while the thaumic one is that wand disguised as a cellphone style one from mystic force. As for the question it's a colored armor set that looks like a power ranger that adapts the abilities of the armor that was merged with the morpher to create the ranger's powers. So in otherwords it's a temporary armor switch while active. Basically the "adapting the armor which was used to create the morph" is kinda like factorizations Exosuit armor, since that holds other armors in it and uses their defense values as it's own defense value.
This mod is really cool. You should add the Zords, Megazords, and vehicles. And Bosses. Every Couple days, there could be a monster. (about 100 hearts)
Craft ting for zords
This is an absolutely brilliant idea. I might get to learn coding, so in the event I can, I'll try making this idea a reality. I've always loved PR. Grew up watching Mighty Morphin' with my Dad. Ah, the cheese.
