Have you ever wandered into or spawned in a swamp/ jungle biome thinking, "Aww come on, there's no challenge here!" Well, I am aiming to change that. Various giant carnivorous plants will spawn randomly around swamp and jungle biomes, and will attack the player from their position( they are stationary, as in they do not walk) if he/she should stray too close(within 1-2 blocks) to them.
Ensnares the player in its leaves, dealing 2-3 hearts of damage per second over 5 seconds.
Pitcher plant: The player can slip in, and the acidic fluids inside will deal 2-3 hearts for 8 seconds, often killing the player(it's a death trap, remember?)
Sundew: The player will get stuck on the sundew's leaf, which then curls over and begins dealing similar damage to the Venus FlyTrap.
To balance it and make the plants less OP, the player can punch out of them, and upon killing them, they drop their seeds, which can be grown into a tamed version to defend the player's house from invading mobs (I know there's already a plants versus zombies mod out there, but I wanted to make a mod that's a little more in-depth. Also, I know about the More Plant Species request, and I wanted to build it myself as an actual mod request).
The plants will also be able to attack mobs, including passive ones( so basically you could have a pig spawner nearby and continually feed it pigs). After each feeding it will take 2-3 minecraft days before it is hungry again. If left unfed it will wilt and while wilted it will not attack hostile mobs. Feed it and it will become unwilted. You can feed it any type of meat(porkchop, beef, cooked pork, steak, raw/cooked chicken, rotten flesh).
