I have a jar for Minecraft 0.31 from January or early Febuary 2010. It has a moss stone house, ores are smelted by throwing them in fire, tools don't break, all tool materials work the same, and Dock's old mobs are included. It's a really cool window into Minecraft's past. Unfortunately, this version can't run with the current Vanilla Minecraft client. The world generation gets all the way up to post-processing (there's no main menu), then a null pointer pops up in a separate window. I can play it with Fiddler, but it obviously requires patching. First and foremost, the game can't run in the Vanilla Minecraft client. That's a big problem. Second, there's no sound. I must assume this is for the same reason that there is no sound in Classic: the sound files in minecraft.net/resources were moved to minecraft.net/classic/play/resources, thus breaking the sound. A patch would need to be included that sets the directory for the sound to .minecraft's resources folder or minecraft.net/classic/play/resources. Finally, levels can't save as files in .minecraft/saves like they can in the Febuary 23, 2010 version of Indev. This would also require a patch. Does anyone know where I could obtain these patches? If not, are any coders willing to make these patches for the game? Please PM me if you found a patch; I lose track of even my own threads very easily.

Well, there is a sound fix for MC classic, though I believe you'd need to sign the .jar yourself, because these old versions freak out without their precious META_INF directories. You might need to recode it a bit to suite /indev/, but as for saving, I'd say rip the code from 2/23/10 and try to adapt it. I actually have the same 0.31 you are talking about, and it's really fun to play, though fiddler has been acting up a bit oddly lately...
And if that doesn't work, you can always try Olddays by Exalm. (He's implementing the MD3 mobs! )
Distributing any part of minecraft is illegal.
Bumping is against the rules.
Also according to the wiki there's no more login service for Indev so there would be no way to play unless you modify it your self and honestly if mojang doesn't want it to work i doubt many people will be interested it getting it to work let alone it being legal.
