I need a mod that changes the texture of a single item without changing the like. Changing the texture of a stone sword, but that does not change the texture of stone swords too. So will facilitate the creation of maps.

You could just re-texture unused items, and if you want them as weapons, just add enchantments on them.

If I understand correctly, you want a different sword texture, but not a different shovel texture... Why not just use a texture pack? Unless of course you mean making items with special graphics. That way one sword could look different from another sword.

Search linkseyi's mod maker in the tools section. It's very simple and you can make more tools etc. on your own.
