Note: Ignore most of this, the concept is being reworked.
Unfortunately no one has made a Spore mod yet. I've had a number of ideas for a Spore mod floating around my head lately so I figure'd I'd share them. I plan on eventually making this mod, but if anyone would like to help feel free to ask!
When you first open up Minecraft nothing really changes with the exception of a Minecraft-ized version of the Spore introduction playing right before the main screen pulls up. Under the Single player tab there is a SporeCraft option. This will bring up a screen where you can choose to either enter the creators or play SporeCraft. More info on both of these soon.
The world will be populated with default creatures that are added with the mod, but you can download creatures that others have shared and those will also appear. This mod will also expand the Spore world by allowing you to visit other continents and adding underwater creatures and civilizations. But watch out when crossing large oceans or living underwater, the giant sea creature still roams the oceans, he is super powerful and will attack on site, only the most prepared can hold their own against it.
Creators:
There will be 18 creators in this mod. The creature creators, vehicle creators, building creators, and flora creators.
The building and vehicle creators would behave just like you would normally build something in Minecraft, but with a lot of new blocks. The creature and flora creators would behave similar to 3D modeling programs, but simpler.
Behavior of creatures will be altered depending on what parts you've added to the creature, and you can change the behavior yourself if you don't like the behavior that the creature is automatically assigned to. You can either manually paint your creature with different sized brushes or choose multiple patterns you like as you would in Spore, or you can do both. You can then outfit our creature, and prepare them for stages to come.
The flora creator is one of the only creators in this mod that was not in Spore, the other being the submarine creator. Anyways, this will work very similar to the creature creator with the exception of things that are obviously specific to creatures. You can add fruit to your plant, you can even make the fruit poisonous! You can alter what biomes you plant will appear in as well as how frequent it will appear in that biome.
Playing SporeCraft
Once you select this option you can choose what your planet will be named, what stage you will begin in, and what groups of creatures you want to appear in it. I will explain each stage in full detail soon. You also have the option to go to advanced planet settings, where you can edit the planet like you would in the Galactic Adventures expansion.
You will start out as a cell unless you choose otherwise. This stage will be the most like the Spore counterpart, but it will have some minor differences. Firstly, you can choose what cells appear by downloading cells you like and sorting them into different groups. Secondly, you ill actually be playing on a generated world in an area made entirely of water that is deleted once you pass the cell stage, Your camera will be stuck in 3rd person and will only look directly down on you.
The creature stage is where you first start to see major differences. The most noticeable is that you can now cross oceans, but still face the threat of a chance encounter with the sea monster. You can also choose to become an underwater creature instead of a land creature. You can still run into the sea monster, but he is easier to fight and you are more likely to kill him since you have abilities focused on killing in the water. Most things planned in Will Wright's aquatic stage will be implemented.
Tribal will have some major changes. Firstly, you will experience the stage through the eyes of the chief, in first person. You can right click your villagers and open a GUI that will allow you to tell them what to do. Right clicking the hut will also open a GUI that will allow you to add buildings and outfit your species. You can still do everything you can in Spore, but you will experience it in first person.
The civilization stage will also undergo major changes. It will implement all of the features in the tribal stage as far as first person goes. But you will be able to go into the city hall of any of your cities and open a map of the world. You can then order around things as you would do in Spore. This way it pleases everyone.
The space stage will stay mostly the same with a few Minecraft twists and the addition of space battles and invasions. You will still control your ship from 3rd person just like Spore, but you can beam down to planets and interact just like you would in civilization with the exception of controlling things using the map. You can still buy vehicles for the colony, but you cannot control them unless you go up to them in first person and do it as you would in tribal. There will also be fleets patrolling an empire's territory. You will get into space battles with these fleets if you run into them, but you can order allied fleets to follow you and aid you in these battles. It's likely that you will have to undergo a battle before you can start the invasion of a colony. When invading if you have an allied fleet with you that includes transport vehicle you can order the military in those vehicles down to the planet to help invade. You cannot control these vehicles unless on the ground like you would on any of your colonies.
Well, that's it! It was a lot to digest I know, but it would make an awesome mod! I plan on making Galactic Adventures expansion once this mod is completely done. I look forward to your feedback!
Interesting idea! Not sure if you could meet a coder advanced enough to do that, however. If you can do that, i would support!
I'm hoping to do this mod very gradually. I'll do the original Spore features and release that first and then work on the new features I want to add, like fleets and invasions. I'll try dissecting Millionaire soon to see if I can gleam some coding for tribal-space stage with the ability to command people. I'm hoping to learn some advanced coding soon.
As I like this mod, I won't tell you that 2 Sporecrafts are already planned, and I have the same ideas as you. When I get a new computer for Christmas (hopefully), I will make 1, too. I haven't modded much yet, my first was a failure and couldn't be released. I'm not saying anything, but this will fail. Hopefully.
I was not aware there were already Spore mods planned. I tried search but that is useless. Perhaps we could work together to make this? And why would you hope that it fails?

Thanks for the interest everyone! I'm hoping to do this step by step, starting with the simplest step. What I think I'll end up doing is make some creatures in a modeling program and have someone make flora, vehicles, and buildings in Minecraft. I'll probably start out with the creature stage so that only flora must be made. I'm hoping to get a modding team together as this will end up being a complex mod, and the more on the team the better the mod is! If you want to be on the modding team then please notify me via PM.

Very, VERY ambitious. Even more ambitious than the Colonies mod I will soon be working on. I just hope this works...
-EDIT-
Might help you when I learn java, but only with the actual blocks, items and creatures, none of the creator stuff. But ATM i dont know much java, and can hardly create a short text game. So... Yeah.
Okay everyone, I've changed my plans a little bit in regards to the information in the first post. I still would eventually like to do all of this and maybe even make a mob creator, but I'm going to start out much simpler.
The very first stage of this mod will only implement the creature stage. Models will be made of default Maxis creatures to populate your world. Models will also be made of default plants to populate your world as well. Your starting creature can be any model in your game, so if you make a model of your own Spore creature you can use that. Your abilities will come when you pick up dropped parts from alpha creatures or skeletons. You can then equip these items in a new GUI exclusive to the SporeCraft mode. All your parts will be kept in slots that you can scroll through when you open your inventory.

It took Maxis probably a year or two to make spore, and there was probably dozens of experienced programmers working on it... I dont think it will work, but if it does i would be very excited to try it! Good luck! 's 4 u if u pull this off!
The people who made the Aether seem that advanced. And I have a few ideas.
- Instead of the Grox, there will be Herobrine.
- In the city halls you can edit vehicles by clicking something on the GUI that says Car Garage or something.

Ah yes, I had originally planned that nut I guess I forgot to add it, I'll do that now.
