Meh, I've decided to pass this up and focus on the Harvest Moon on instead. I'm no good with modelling or coding model movements, so yea, mostly everything here are models, and I don't think I can do them XD
While the animals are a big part of the coding, they aren't the only thing, as I noted on my last post. But I still think you've made a wise choice.
It's easy to get bogged down in too many projects all at once. Best to stick to just one or two :smile.gif:
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My nephews and I have started posting Minecraft videos on my YouTube channel! Fairly random, but enjoyable.
General schedule is 4 PM Mon-Fri and 10 AM Saturdays. Most popular MC vid so far is the one Vechs laughed at on Twitter!
And the deciduous shouldn't be grass really (though the code should basically treat it like grass, as far as spawning animals and such). It's more like a layer of dead and decaying leaves, different types of brown, yellow, green, and orange mixed together. At least, that's what I think the ZT version is meant to convey. Like this (about five photos down): http://www.canadiannaturephotographer.com/autumnontario.html
Your savanna grass looks awesome and I do like the rainforest floor. Pretty soon these biomes will actually start to look like functioning ecosystems :smile.gif:
I can try to model some animals. I'm not amazing at it but might as well give it a shot.
You're welcome to try. Somewhere up the thread I posted a list of animals that I hope our texture artist will get to first, so choose from that and go ahead and make some. We'll refine them as needed, and movements can happen later.
Lemme see, so far I've spotted these threads, and added a link to ours on them (so don't add more; we don't want to spam). But do go take a look if you like:
And of course there's Mo' Creatures, which includes several types of animals we'll eventually want to add (including bears, foxes, deer, big cats of various types, and their upcoming crocodile). They even have a different type of wolf, although I can't stand it because someone made the nose not turn with the rest of the face and it looks ridiculous. (Plus it tries to eat me, but that's understandable.)
Yeah, Baz, we've got a lot of work to do on our Harvest Moon mod. We're getting ready for Alpha release.
It'd be nice if we got some more buzz on this thread, maybe some help from coders or modelers who aren't working on Harvest Moon. But I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Would it be possible for you to grab models from Mo' Creatures and make skins based on those? I'd try to mock up models myself, but I've never worked with 3d except a tiny bit with Game Maker, so I'd have to learn a lot very fast to be of use, and I have no software.
ETA: I've made a request for a modeler on one of the forums (not sure it's the right one, but it should get directed to the right place soon enough if anyone takes notice).
In the absence of animal models, what say you work on decorations? First off would be a couple vending machines (food, drinks), and of course the plexiglass, and chain-link fence... um... a gift stand with an NPC to stand beside it wearing a colorful uniform. Some flower boxes. I can get a better list up if you like.
Actually, it'd be neat to have some food-stand themed Paintings: menus, ads, and such (don't use all the paintings, just some of them - we'll need others for the zoo itself). And a counter. Maybe some flags or banners. So that way, we could put together some food stands pretty simply :smile.gif:
I can code some blocks but i am not very experienced so i cannot make them bouncy and stuff but i can code the Asphalt and blocks like that pretty easily. And i use ModLoader because that is the easiest so if you need help go ahead and PM me what blocks you need and ill start. But I will need you to make textures or i could make quick textures just to act as place holders.
Hey I think I would be able to do all of the code by myself, but I'd like to work in Minecraft forge enviroment (due to sprites)
We're willing to go with Forge if you're willing to code :smile.gif:
It won't actually work with my personal build (I use OptiFine at present), but that's pretty much a given for anything that involves a lot of new items, so no worries.
If you could mock up some models for the animals mentioned earlier in this thread, that'd also be great. Would help Bazaloy get to making more textures for them.
Here's a short list of animals you could start on: Cheetah, Zebra, Gazelle and/or Antelope, Giraffe, Elephant, Rhino, Hippo, Ostrich, Kangaroo, Okapi, Bongo, Giant Panda.
Disturbedsolja: If you'd like to help out, we could definitely use you! Bazaloy is the Chief Texture Artist, but so far we haven't found a coder until you and battlefield came along. So I guess you guys get to choose part of the project to code and divvy it up however you like :smile.gif:
If you want more direction than that, I can start laying it out in smaller tasks. I'm more busy on the Harvest Moon mod, but I'm okay with being the Producer for two mods if it's needed. But if you're okay just taking the initiative yourselves, that'd be great!
