i'm thinking that maybe the config is good idea. seperate levels of power, like making out of diamond instead of iron is bad because if you think about it, the wrench ratchet uses is the same one throughout the games. i think that you could take the omniwrench and be able to put it in the crafting grid with something over it to give it special abilities. like, omniwrench with lava bucket/flint&steel over it in the grid gives it flame abilities, setting stuff on fire on impact and lighting a furnace. or feathers to make it a special "lightweight" omniwrench that lets you jump higher/limited flight abilities. or even, gunpowder to make it explosive! make things go BOOM! with a touch! S:)
Very cool ode, I like it a lot, and as for the red stone thing maybe give it like 20 redstone uses and when it runs out you can reload it by putting it on a crafting table center block with redstone around it.
[>>-i>] = wrench

To the person who asked if there are more diamonds in smp then in regular game, that is a no. You just have to realize diamonds are rare underground, they only exist from bedrock up to block level 16 very very rarely higher. If you branch mine you can easily find diamonds, gold and redstone.
I do think the tool should be as strong as iron though.
I can see what you guys are wanting, but my ultimate goal with the omniwrench is a stone pick replacement, a sort of handy tool I can use to chew through stone at IRON-level speeds, but I still need to carry an iron or diamond pick to mine more valuable resources.
If this thing was capable of mining at an iron pick level, I feel it'd be a bit OP
